THIS CARS TIPM SYSTEM IS EXTREMELY FAULTY I'VE HAD IT FIXED 3 ALREADY AND IT STILL ACTS AS OF IT IS POSSESSED. THIS HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY WHERE THE CAR STARTED GOING OFF BY IT'S SELF STALLED AND COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I ALMOST DIED. THERE HAS BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VEHICLES TIPM SYSTEM BUT JEEP REFUSES TO RECALL THEM. ALSO THE AIRBAGS DO NOT DEPLOY. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE
I LOST CONTROL OF THE JEEP YESTERDAY HIT TWO TREES HEAD ON THE CURTAIN AIRBAGS ABOVE THE WINDOWS ALL THE WAY DOWN THE SIDES DEPLOYED BUT THE MAIN STEERING AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY NOR DID THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IN THE DASH I WAS ON A BACK ROAD
I WAS DRIVING ON A MAIN HIGHWAY AND ALL LIGHTS STARTED TO FLASH. ALL NEEDLES STARTED TO JUMP AROUND AND THEN EVERYTHING WENT BLACK AND CAR DIED INCLUDING NO FLASHERS. BATTERY WAS REPLACED A MONTH BEFORE WITH YEARLY INSPECTION THE MONTH BEFORE AS WELL.
PRIOR TO ACCIDENT, THE SKY SLIDER LEAKED WATER INTO THE ELECTRICAL ROOF LIGHT COMPACTS DROPPING DOWN INTO GEAR SHIFT. ALSO LEAKED INTO TRUNK AND BACK SEAT OF JEEP FROM CEILING. EVEN AFTER REPAIRED BY DEALERSHIP TWICE, IT CONTINUED TO LEAK WATER DURING AND AFTER RAIN. THE AUTOMATIC DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SINCE LEAKING ISSUES, HAS SHORTED AND FAILED TO CLOSE (GO UP) ON A DAILY BASIS. DEEP FRONT END COLLISION HAD ZERO DEPLOYMENT OF AIRBAG IN FRONT- INCLUDES DURING/AFTER PASSENGER SIDE ROLLOVER. ONLY SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. CONCUSSION AND MUSCLE SPASMS RESULTED FROM ACCIDENT. BODY HIT AGAINST STEERING COLUMN, HEAD AND ARM AGAINST DRIVER WINDOW AND FRAME. ENTIRE WEEK OF UNPAID MEDICAL LEAVE FROM EMPLOYER BY DOCTORS ORDER. TOTAL LOSS OF JEEP. SEATBELT HELD ME IN SUSPENSE WHILE JEEP WAS ON IT'S SIDE. ALTHOUGH IT LEFT ME WITH PAINS IN HIPS, ABDOMEN AND LEGS, THE SEATBELT SAVED ME FROM ENDING UP IN THE WINDOW AND GLASS IN MY SKIN FROM THE ROLLOVER WINDOW GLASS BREAKAGE. FEELS LIKE JEEP INITIATED ROLLOVER UPON FRONT IMPACT AFTER HAVING BEEN STOPPED COMPLETELY. ..UPDATED 11/18/14 *BF UPDATED 10/7/2015*JS

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME UNRESPONSIVE AND THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A GUARD RAIL, FLIPPED OVER TWICE AND LANDED IN AN EMBANKMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT HAD TO BE CUT OUT OF THE VEHICLE. SHE SUFFERED A CUT ON HER NECK, SEVERAL ABRASIONS, BRUISES, AND VARIOUS OTHER INJURIES TO HER BACK. TWO DAYS AFTER THE CRASH SHE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V121000 (AIR BAGS , POWER TRAIN , STRUCTURE). THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, HE ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE WHILE MANEUVERING THE VEHICLE TO AVOID CRASHING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE WHICH WAS STOPPED. THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL PREVENTED THE VEHICLE FROM SUCCESSFULLY MANEUVERING. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A ROLLOVER CRASH. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A BROKEN WRIST AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A TOWING YARD. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
ON 11/22/2017 I PARKED 5 SPACES FROM THE FRONT DOOR OF MEIJER ON E.MICHIGAN AVE IN JACKSON, MI. AS MY ESA ANIMAL REMAINED IN THE VEHICLE I LEFT THE CAR RUNNING AND HEAT ON LOW. I WAS IN THE STORE ABOUT 3 MINUTES. BY THE TIME I RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE I WAS INFORMED BY A BYSTANDER MY VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE AND HELP WAS ON THE WAY. I ASKED ABOUT MY DOG AND WAS TOLD NO ONE HAD SEEN HIM. I FRANTICALLY SEARCHED THE CAR FOR (NAGINI) MY DOG CAUSING 3RD DEGREE BURNS ON MY HANDS.I WAS ABLE TO RETRIEVE HIM FROM THE JEEP. HE WAS UNCONSCIOUS AND UNRESPONSIVE. I BEGAN CPR AND HE WAS RESUSCITATED. BUT SADLY NAGINI DIED FROM HIS INJURIES 2 DAYS LATER.
The contact's husband owned a 2008 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the air bag and traction control warning lights would flash on the instrument panel. The contact stated that while driving at 40 MPH, the vehicle hydroplaned while crossing a puddle of water and landed in a ditch. The side curtain air bags deployed; however, the driver and passenger air bags did not deploy. The contact stated that an abnormal odor was emitted from the vehicle. The contact sustained bruising on the left arm but did not seek medical attention. A police report was not filed. Due to the failure, the vehicle was initially towed to the contact's home and was later towed to an independent tow yard. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was unknown.
ON 17 FEBRUARY, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, I PLACED MY CAR INTO REVERSE TO BACK INTO AN AVAILABLE PARKING SPOT AND THE ENGINE REVVED UP ON ITS OWN AND SHOT THE CAR BACKWARD AT TOP SPEED HITTING AND TOPPLING A SAN DIEGO LIGHT POST AND STOPPING WHEN IT HIT A TREE. NO ONE WAS INJURED THANK GOODNESS. I FOUND ON LINE THAT THIS HAD HAPPENED AT LEAST 31 TIMES WITH A SIMILAR JEEP LIBERTY.
I WAS ON MY WAY BACK TO WORK DURING MY LUNCH HOUR DRIVING ON ALEXANDER ST. IN CORPUS CHRISTI TEXAS. THAT STREET HAS SEVERAL DIPS. AS I DROVE OVER ONE OF THE DIPS THE JEEP SUDDENLY ACCELERATED IN SUCH A SPEED THAT I WAS UNABLE TO STOP IT AND IT HIT A PARKED CAR. MY CAR WAS APPROXIMATELY 10 FEET FROM THE PARKED CAR WHICH MADE IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR. I FIRMLY BELIEVE THE ACCIDENT WAS A RESULT OF "SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION" THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO EXPLAIN THIS UNFORTUNATE ACCIDENT. WITH ALL THE DIPS ON THAT STREET IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SPEED, ADDITIONALLY IT IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF A SCHOOL WHICH HAS A SPEED LIMIT OF NO MORE THAN 15 MPH. IF THIS HAD OCCURRED IN A DIFFERENT AREA THIS COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC, FATALLY INJURING MYSELF AND FAMILY OR ANOTHER HUMAN BEING. THE PARKING BRAKE FAILED TO ENGAGE ON MY 2008 JEEP LIBERTY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. WHILE THE PARKING BRAKE WAS FULLY ENGAGED WITH THE JEEP IN NEUTRAL THE JEEP ROLLED BACKWARD AND STRUCK THE WALL CAUSING MINOR RIGHT FRONT FENDER DAMAGE. FORTUNATELY THE JEEP HIT THE WALL STOPPING IT FROM ROLLING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY INTO TRAFFIC OR RUNNING OVER PEDESTRIANS. NOTE; THERE IS A RECALL ON THE 2008 JEEP LIBERTY, CHRYSLER RECALL #H28 WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION BUT NOT ON THE AUTOMATIC WHICH USES THE EXACT SAME PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM. WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE? EMERGENCY/PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM SHOULD BE THERE WHEN YOU NEED IT AND IF THE HYDRAULIC BRAKING SYSTEM SHOULD FAIL. I WAS PARKING MY JEEP LIBERTY AT THE JEEP DEALER. I HAD AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE ENGINE CHECKED BECAUSE OF A MALFUNCTION LIGHT THAT WOULD NOT GO OUT AFTER STARTING THE CAR. I HAD PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE AND THEN BACKED UP TO STRAIGHTEN THE VEHICLE OUT IN THE SPACE. WHEN I STARTED TO PULL INTO THE PARKING SPACE AGAIN THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD STRIKING THE DEALERSHIP BUILDING DAMAGING THE CONCRETE BLOCK STRUCTURE, DAMAGE TO THE FRONT BUMPER LIGHTS, AND FRONT FENDERS. THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME ANYTHING LIKE THIS HAS EVER HAPPENED TO ME. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED AND I WILL ATTEMPT TO HAVE ALL SENSORS AND PARTS AVAILABLE RETURNED TO ME. *TR
We had a fire in the engine compartment. Fire started at the engine manifold ! We took pictures of the damage! This could have killed my son in law ! We gifted the vehicle to him so it could be used as a station vehicle. A dangerous situation Exist ! There is no recall or acknowledgment of this problem being identified!
ONCE PARKED THE HEAT SHEILD CAME UP AGAINST THE HEATER CORE AND MUST HAVE SPARKED CAUSING IT TO CATCH FIRE UNDER THE HOOD! NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE CAUSING A POSSIBLE FATAL ISSUE

"TAKATA RECALL" I WAS DRIVING ON57TH ST WEST AND MY AIR-BAG EXPLODE. I DID NOT HIT SOMETHING OR SOMETHING HIT ME. IT WAS A VERY,VERY SCARED MOMENT. MY RIGHT ARM GOT BURN. ALSO MY SISTER WAS IN THEVEHICLE WIT ME HER AIR GOT BURN ALSO. THANK YOU

I JUST RETURNED FROM ALEXANDER CHRYSLER JEEP IN FRANKLIN, TN 615-794-5000. THEY TRIED TO BLAME A VACUUM HOSE FOR LETTING GASOLINE FUMES IN THE CABIN OF THE 2008 JEEP LIBERTY TO AVOID A WARRANTY FIX. THIS IS WHERE THE MY HEALTH AND SAFETY COMPLAINT COMES IN. MY WIFE HAS BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT BEING SICK WITH HEADACHES AND STOMACH PAIN FOR MONTHS. ORIGINALLY WE TOOK THE JEEP IN FOR "GAS CAP" WARNING ON THE ODOMETER AND ENGINE LIGHT. NOTHING WAS FOUND. TODAY I TOOK THE JEEP IN AN ALEXANDER FOUND A CLEARLY ABRADED OR DETERIORATED VACUUM HOSE THAT THEY SAID COULD ALLOW THE GAS FUMES INTO THE CABIN. MY WIFE HAS BEEN BREATHING THIS FOR MONTHS AND IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THIS EXPOSES OCCUPANTS TO TOXIC FUMES AND RISKS AN EXPLOSION HAZARD IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.
