TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN HER HUSBAND WAS DRIVING, THE VEHICLE WENT FROM THE LEFT LANE TO THE RIGHT LANE, DOWN AN EMBANKMENT AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE VEHICLE THEN ERUPTED INTO FLAMES. THE DRIVER WAS KILLED AS A RESULT OF THE CRASH. THERE WERE THREE WITNESSES WHO STATED THAT THEY NEVER SAW ANY BRAKE LIGHTS OR SKID MARKS. ALSO THE STATE TROOPER WHO INVESTIGATED THE CRASH STATED THAT HE ALSO NOTICED NO SKID MARKS. IT WAS NOT DETERMINED AT WHAT SPEED THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELLING BUT IT WAS TOTALED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT SPOKEN WITH THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER TO-DATE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 70,000.

MY MOTHER AND FRIEND STARTED OUT FOR CHURCH, THE FRIEND HAD COME TO PICK HER UP WHEN THE 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY WITH LESS THAN 3000 MILES ON IT WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY SHIFTING INTO REVERSE, THEN WHEN SHE SHIFTED INTO DRIVE THE CAR ACCELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY EST SPEED ON 80 - 92 MILE A HOUR IN LESS THAN 250 FT WHEN THE CAR HIT A MOBILE HOME. THEY HIT SO HARD IT MOVED DOUBLE WIDE ALMOST A FOOT. KILLING MY MOTHER THE PASSENGER AND INJURY TO HER FRIEND THE DRIVER. NO AIR BAG DEPLOYED AND WHEN TOYOTA WAS CONTACTED THEY REFUSED TO SPECK TO US. ATTORNEYS HAVE SAID THAT TOYOTA IS SO BIG, NOT COST AFFECTIVE....SO I WATCH AND IN TWO YEARS THERE ARE MANY MANY MORE NOW....HOW MANY MORE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE. The contacts stated that while her daughter was driving at 55mph down a hill when the contact's daughter crashed the vehicle into another vehicle that was stopped. None of the airbags deploying. Medical treatment was required and she sustained bruising to the left breast and ribcage. The contact's daughter service dog was in the vehicle at the time of the failure and hit the floorboard during the incident. A police report was filed and the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The contact stated no warning lights were illuminated. The manufacturer was informed of failure and was awaiting a response. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.

I WAS SLOWLY PULLING INTO A PARKING LANE, STARTED TO TURN LEFT TOWARDS A PARKING SPOT WHEN MY 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY XLE ACCELERATED SUDDENLY AND PRESSING ON THE BRAKE DID LITTLE TO STOP THE CAR. THIS HAPPENED IN A SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT. AS A RESULT, TWO OTHER CARS WERE DAMAGED AND THE MY CAMRY WAS TOTALED. THE CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 148000 MILES ON IT. THE CAR HAD BEEN ROUTINELY MAINTAINED. THE CAR HAD PREVIOUS ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING USING THE CRUISE CONTROL BUT THE PROBLEM HAD NEVER BEEN TRACED DOWN AS TO WHAT CAUSED THIS ISSUE. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE RPM NEEDLE JUMPED FROM LOW RPM TO HIGH RPM. IN ADDITION, WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH HAD COME ON UN-EXPECTEDLY. THESE ISSUES WERE NEVER REPRODUCED WHEN TAKEN TO THE MECHANIC AND THE PROBLEMS NEVER RESOLVED.
