Vehicle was involved in a rear-end collision. Vehicle did not brake before impact manually neither did the brake assist activate. There were no signs of braking assist malfunctioning. Vehicle caught fire upon impact and not available for inspection. Vehicle given to insurance company and settled. Injury to driver of vehicle in question. Driver of vehicle hit and went to ER by ambulance. There is a report filed of accident.

My 2018 Toyota Camry (VIN [XXX] ) crashed and burned completely on Nov 16, 2025. while driving on the Freeway the vehicle stopped suddenly without any notice on dashboard all electrical turned off steering wheel locked and lost control hit left fwy barrier which caused car to spun couple times and when it came to a complete stop was not able to turn car or even turn emergency lights on and couple seconds later was rear ended by another vehicle which caused vehicle to catch on fire and vehicle was fully in flames after reviewing history of vehicle I never received notification of Toyota Recall 18V-200, which addresses defective pistons that can cause engine stalling, rough running, loss of power, or sudden failure. Based on VIN and production date, my car likely falls within the recall. Police and fire reports are available. Brake malfunction on my 2018 Toyota Camry and steering wheel malfunctioned causing my vehicles to spend on the freeway hitting a barrel and landing the car into a ditch. The car is not available for inspection it’s still at the tow yard. The safety was at risk for me as the driver was tremendously overwhelming and fearful. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by anyone. There hasn’t been any inspection to the vehicle that I know of. Yes there was warning sign; power steering malfunction, secondary collision brake system malfunction, antilock brake system malfunction, ICS malfunction, pre collision system malfunction. They first appeared 12-01-2024.

Vehicle should have automatic emergency braking safety feature when vehicle is driving in “Reverse”. I made a very careless and dangerous mistake because I was in a rush and placed my vehicle in “Reverse” instead of “Park”, immediately after parking on the street in front of my friend’s house. Not realizing the vehicle was in reverse, I quickly opened the driver’s side door and placed my left foot on the street as I was getting out. Suddenly, the moving vehicle and opened driver’s side door knocked me down on the street and continued to drive in reverse crushing my body. The vehicle should have stopped the moment it hit something or before it hit something. Instead, the vehicle smashed me against the pavement, rolled right over me, and then continued in reverse at a rapid speed. At the same time, my friend was getting out of the front passenger side and was almost pinned against a telephone pole that the opened passenger side door hit, but thankfully she got out of the way just in time. The car, however, continued running in reverse. Another friend had to run down the street and literally jump in the driver’s side to quickly place his foot on the brakes. I was still laying injured on the street in agony, and sustained multiple injuries.

The contact stated that while driving through an intersection at approximately 46 mph when another vehicle driving at approximately 40 mph crashed into their driver-side door. The air bag did not deploy. Both vehicles were damaged. The contact's vehicle was totaled and was determined to be totaled. A police report was filed. The contact received injuries to their head, back, and leg. The passenger received injuries to their upper body. No medical attention was needed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 83,100.

Driving on the freeway, cruise control set, a remnant of a large tire was in my lane, I could not avoid hitting it, it caused my car to lose control, drive up on the concrete divider placed by construction crews, came back down to the freeway and hit the back of a semi causing my car to then spin out of control and eventually landing in a ditch. The entire front end of the car was damaged, the car was deemed totaled by the auto repair place. During this incident none of the airbags deployed.

The entire brake system became inoperative on my 2018 Toyota Camry on two separate occasions causing a near fatal accident and damaged to my property and to the property of the other driver on the road. The first incident occurred on the freeway while I was driving behind another vehicle. As my car approached the other vehicle, I press down on the brake pedal all the way but my car would not slow down or stop but continue to accelerate thus causing me to rear end the other car. My car gave no prior warning that the brake system was malfunctioning. I was deemed by the insurance company as the responsible party for the accident thus my insurance premium was increased. The second incident occurred when I was in a residential area approaching my driveway. The car again failed to stop when I pressed down on the brake pedal. The emergency hand brake did not work either. I had no choice but to shift the car into parking which cause me to hit the curve and only inches away from my garage door. The brake fluid under the hood of my car bursts thus leaking the fluid all over the street and my driveway. Both of these incidents caused my elderly mother and myself great emotional stress and post traumatic symptoms. Prior to this Toyota issued a recall on all 2018 to 2019 Toyota Camry for the potential brake failure. I had to towed my car to the Toyota dealership for repair. It has been over 3 months and Toyota has done nothing to remedy this problem. They claim the parts for the brakes are back order and that there is a shortage of parts everywhere. This is the only answer I get when I call them for an update. I have spoken to the service manager, the customer relation manager and the corporate office but none are willing to assists me to resolve this matter.

The contact mentioned that both feet were used to depress the brake pedal however the vehicle failed to stop. An unknown brake-related warning light illuminated. As a result, the contact crashed into a vehicle and that vehicle crashed into another causing a 3 vehicle collision. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The contact's mother sustained seat belt injuries, neck, thoracic, chest bruising, knee, and neck bruising. The contact had x-rays on her two feet due to bruising that occurred when depressing the brake pedal aggressively during the failure. Both the contact and her mother sought medical treatment at a hospital. The contact's sister had neck injuries and the contact's niece sustained arm injuries but both did not seek medical attention. The vehicle's hood was damaged and was strapped down in order to drive the vehicle to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired for the brake failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and it was informed that there was a recall related to the brakes. The failure mileage was 53,000.

1st Occurance: Approaching stop sign getting off freeway and brake pedal was hard to depress and brakes slow to work, pulled emergency brake to stop vehicle just in time. No warning lights, no squeaking brakes or grinding noises. We had a long drive approximately 4-5 hours freeway with 1 hour stop before reaching our destination where this occurred. 2nd occurance: Next day in city traffic driving 35-40mph. Noticed brakes getting less effective with each use eventually having to use emergency brake as main brake. Still no lights or noises from vehicle. Pulled over and called Carmax where I financed and had MaxCare to make an appt for brakes to be fixed and diagnosed. Appt was made for a week or so out and in the meantime, driving home to park the vehicle… 3rd and last occurrence:(same day) while approaching a traffic light, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to stop the vehicle. No brake warning light.No dashboard warning lights on at all. The brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard to stop the vehicle and vehicle did not stop. Pumped the brake pedal a few times and still nothing. Vehicle ended up getting deemed totaled by insurance. Also note: the airbags did not deploy. The accident was a head-on collision with a rock wall going 40-45mph. Seatbelts fastened. Passenger was dazed from hitting head during accident and bleeding. Right leg received a 7 in cut which is now a knurly 3-4 inch scar. I was left carless and basically homeless with no where to stay in an unknown city for weeks until I was able to purchase a bus ticket home. Due to being stuck 6 hours away from home and carless I lost my job. My life has been completely turned upside down and my mental health is continuing to decline. I am unable to take kids to school or sports as well as the park for simple family quality time.

The vehicle went through the garage door and only stopped after crashing into the inside garage wall. The contact stated that there were skid marks on the floor in the garage. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was damaged. The vehicle was inspected by several friends with automotive knowledge however, a determination was not made as to the cause of the failure. The driver was taken to the Emergency Room for minor contusions to the face and lower back pain. The CT scan showed no major injury or broken bones. There was no police report filed. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle remained inside the garage with the garage door not fully functionable. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V890000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) after researching online however, the VIN was not included. The contact was also concerned that the Forward Collision Avoidance System failed to operate as designed. The contact stated that there was a prior failure several months ago while his father was making a right turn and attempting to stop the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to stop and rear-ended the vehicle in front. There were no injuries to either drivers. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure and a case was filed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000.

I was rear ended when I was braking hard to avoid hitting a dog in the street (where I live you can be sued for running over/injuring a dog). My car speed was about 10 mph give or take, and I was rear ended by a distracted driver (who admitted to using antidepressants on a daily basis) who I believe was going at least 45 mph. My car was pushed forward at least 6 ft and no airbags were deployed. I thought I died because I saw a flash of bright light enveloping my entire vision while my chest and forehead were whipped forward harshly and almost touched my steering wheel. My whiplash injuries are moderately severe and have actually put a few discs along my entire spine and cervical area off-center, continuing to cause extreme back/neck pain and discomfort. I have sharp intermittent pain in my head as well. Had the airbags went off from the steering wheel I strongly believe I would not be in this much pain, having to take time off work to seek treatment a few times a week. I am confused as to why the airbags did not deploy when my car was crashed into behind at such a high speed when viewing footage. Had this happened on the freeway I have no doubt I would be dead from a broken neck or in the hospital as a 'living vegetable' from a cracked spine. Toyota should be making airbag deployment in all types of accidents a priority. Individuals are just as prone to sustaining life threatening injuries when rear ended as during a frontal collision.

We were struck in the rear by a driver and pushed into another car in front of us. The Airbags never deployed during the accident, seatbelts did not constrain us and the driver seats snapped backwards injuring passengers in the front and in the back of the car. Back seat passengers had life-threatening injuries and front passengers had severe injuries.

ON 9/24/20 WE EXPERIENCED A HEAD ON COLLISION IN WHICH BOTH OCCUPANTS EXPERIENCED INJURIES FROM THE SEATBELT (PASSENGER HAD A FRACTURED STERNUM), AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. ONCOMING CAR CROSSED THE CENTERLINE ON A CURVE, BOTH CARS WERE MOVING. I WOULD DISPUTE THE SPEED OF THE OTHER CAR AS I BELIEVE IT WAS GOING MUCH FASTER THAN STATED IN THE POLICE REPORT. OUR VEHICLE MAY VERY WELL HAVE PERFORMED AS DESIGNED (TOYOTA HAS BEEN CALLED TO CONFIRM), WE ARE THANKFUL TO BE HERE, BUT FEEL THE INJURIES COULD HAVE BEEN MINIMIZED IF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. OTHER VEHICLE HAD AIRBAGS DEPLOY, BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER WALKED AWAY.

MY SON, [XXX], HYDROPLANED IN HEAVY RAIN WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HIT THE CONCRETE MEDIAN AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE IMPACT WAS VERY HARD AND INVOLVED THE FRONT AND DRIVER SIDE AND SUSTAINED HEAVY DAMAGE. THE FRONT NOR SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND THEREFORE HIS HEAD COLLIDED WITH THE STEERING WHEEL. HE SUSTAINED INJURIES TO INCLUDE A CONCUSSION AND A TORN AVAR LIGAMENT IN IS NECK. HIS INJURIES HAVE HIM INCAPACITATED. MY WIFE'S 2018 CAMRY ROLLED AWAY DOWN OUR DRIVEWAY WHILE THE SHIFTER WAS IN PARK. IT'S GOT 33K MILES ON IT. ON THE WAY DOWN THE HILL, IT CLEARLY ENGAGED THE PARKING PIN BECAUSE IT DRUG THE FRONT WHEELS 10 OR SO FEET BEFORE HITTING MY NEIGHBORS HOUSE. THE CAR WAS RUNNING, I HOPPED OUT AFTER PUTTING IT IN PARK AND ALL FOUR DOORS UNLOCKED. I PUT A PACKAGE IN THE REAR DRIVER SIDE, WENT TO OPEN THE TRUNK, MY WIFE (WHO WAS SITTING IN THE PASSENGERS SEAT) HIT THE REMOTE ON THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION, AND THE CAR ROLLED BACKWARDS AND NEARLY HIT ME. ALL FOUR DOORS RELOCKED, THE PAWL CLICKED UNTIL IT ENGAGED AS IT ROLLED AWAY. IT JUMPED THE STREET, AND PARK ENGAGED AND IT SLID THE LAST 15 OR SO FEET. THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING UNTIL MY WIFE REMOVED THE KEY. THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY WAS IN PARK THE ENTIRE TIME.

THE CONTACT STRUCK THE FRONT MIDDLE PORTION OF THE OTHER VEHICLE. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MULTIPLE BRUISES, A BROKEN STERNUM, AND WHIPLASH AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL FOR MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS NOTIFIED OF THE CRASH, BUT HAD NOT YET INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A FACILITY. A DEALER HAD NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE YET. MALLOY TOYOTA (400 WEEMS LN, WINCHESTER, VA 22601, (866) 788-9507) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ABNORMAL CONDITION BEFORE AND AFTER THE CRASH, BUT FAILED TO PROVIDE ANY TECHNICAL GUIDANCE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD ISSUED 4 TSBS FOR LANE DEPARTURE HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE TSB AND THEY HAD NOT ISSUED A RECALL CAMPAIGN FOR A REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 400.

TAMARA RECALL I WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED IN TRAFFIC ON THE INTERSTATE AND WAS HIT BY AN SUV GOING 60+ MPH. THE IMPACT SLAMMED ME IN TO THE TWO VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME. MY TRUNK WAS SMASHED AND MY FRONT END WAS MESSED UP. MY RADIATOR WAS CRACKED AND MY FAN WAS CRACKED. OVERALL MY CAR WAS TOTALED.... YET MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, WHICH IS WHY I SUFFERED A CONCUSSION ALONG WITH A VARIETY OF OTHER INJURIES.

WHILE DRIVING MY 2018 TOYOTA CAMRY, A DEER RAN IN FRONT OF THE CAR CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. TWO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. I SAW A FIRE FLASH FROM THE STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG AND RECEIVED A SERIOUS BURN ON MY ARM. MY JACKET SLEEVE MELTED AS WELL. IT'S BEEN OVER A WEEK, AND THE BURN HAS STILL NOT HEALED. SO THANKFUL MY EYES WERE NOT BURNED!

THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE LOT WHERE IT WAS DEEMED DESTROYED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE CONTACT SUFFERED SEVERE BRUISING AND BLEEDING FROM THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT ACROSS THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CHEST. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE CRASH AND SENT AN ENGINEER ON NOVEMBER 14, 2018 TO REMOVE THE COMPUTER SYSTEM FROM THE VEHICLE FOR FURTHER ANALYSIS. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED WITH CASE NUMBER: 810130693. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,600.
