TL*THE CONTACT OWNED A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY XLE. THE DRIVER WAS DRIVING 60 MPH WHEN SHE HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION. THE DRIVER CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE HEAD ON AND THE PASSENGER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE DIED AT THE SCENE. BOTH VEHICLES WERE DESTROYED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MAJOR INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED TO GET SERVICE RECORDS FOR THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE CRASH OCCURRED RIGHT BEFORE THE MANUFACTURER RECALLED THE VEHICLE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH AROUND A CURVE, THE CONTACT LIGHTLY DEPRESSED THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKES LOCKED. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SPIN INDEPENDENTLY AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT STATED THE SKID CONTROL SAFETY DEVICE DID NOT ENGAGE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HIS NECK AS WELL AS OTHER MINOR SCRATCHES AND BRUISING. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL BODY REPAIR FACILITY WHERE THE CONTACT RECEIVED AN ESTIMATE OF THE DAMAGES. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A DECISION FROM HIS INSURANCE COMPANY AS TO WHAT WOULD BE DONE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 22,354.

I OWN A 2009 CAMRY WHICH I BOUGHT AS A NEW CAR. FEW DAYS AGO I WAS APPROACHING MY GARAGE DRIVEWAY AT A NORMAL SLOW SPEED WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED BY ITS OWN. I TRIED TO PRESS THE BRAKE AT HARD AS I COULD TO STOP THE CAR BUT IT CONTINUE TO SPEED UP TILL IT SMASHED INTO THE GARAGE WALL AND BROKE IT. THE IMPACT WAS SO SEVERE THE STAIR CASE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WALL GO DISPLACED AND SHATTERED. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I KEPT ON PRESSING THE BRAKES BUT THE WHEELS WERE ROTATING SO FAST THAT THE FRONT TIRE GOT BURST AFTER RUBBING SO FAST AGAINST THE GARAGE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE FINALLY CAME TO STOP AFTER THE IMPACT BUT THE ENTIRE GARAGE AND THE HOUSE WAS FULL OF BLACK SMOKE DUE TO BURNING TIRES. THIS UNCONTROLLED SUDDEN ACCELERATION MIGHT KILL SOMEONE IF IT HAD HAPPENED ON A CITY STREET. THIS IS A SEVERE PROBLEM AND MUST BE INVESTIGATED THOROUGHLY TO AVOID SIMILAR CASES IN FUTURE. FRIDAY AT 10 PM, ME AND MY FAMILY WERE COMING FROM VISITING FAMILY.. I LEFT AROUND 10PM I STARTED THE CAR, DROVE LIKE ABOUT HALF A MILE, WHEN I TOLD MY WIFE I SMELL SOMETHING BURNING I OPENED THE WINDOWS THEN I LOOKED AT MY SIDE DOOR (DRIVER) IT WAS ON FIRE, .. APPROXIMATELY THREE MONTHS LATER, WHILE DRIVING 4 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, CRASHED INTO A PLATE GLASS WINDOW AND WALL INSIDE A BUILDING AND CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL GEAR, THEN INTO DRIVE UNTIL HE WAS ABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR RECALL 10V017000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL) AND HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED ACCORDINGLY. HOWEVER, AS THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO TWO PARKED VEHICLES. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE BEFORE THE CRASH BUT THE VEHICLE STILL MOVED FORWARD. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 18,700.

The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at approximately 40 MPH, another vehicle ran a stop sign and collided with the drivers front side of the vehicle and the air bags did not deploy as intended. The contact's daughter sustained chest, knee, and right wrist injuries, and she received medical attention. The contact added that the driver's door was not able to open fully after the collision. The fire department arrived, and a police report was filed, but the report number was not available at this time. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot, where it was later deemed totaled. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a complaint was filed. In addition, the contact was told that they could not determine what caused the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
The vehicle was involved in a rollover crash at 60 mph that ended in striking a tree, which intruded upon the entire backseat area. The driver/passenger airbag(s) did not deploy despite conditions where deployment should have occurred. There were no signs of prior deployment or tampering: to my knowledge, the airbag system had not previously deployed or been serviced for that. The airbag system is available for inspection, as the vehicle was sold to the insurance company. My safety was put at risk as I sustained physical injuries that may have been prevented by airbag deployment. The vehicle was inspected by insurance representatives. There were no prior warning lamps regarding the airbags prior to the crash.
The contact rented a 2009 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving 65-75 MPH with cruise control mode engaged, the vehicle became uncontrollable and swerved to the right independently. The contact did not recall whether a warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that while attempting to swerve back to the left, the vehicle rolled over four times and landed on the wheels. The air bags deployed. The contact stated that her daughter was occupying the rear passenger's side seat at the time the incident occurred and was assisted out of the vehicle by bystanders. The contact's daughter was then airlifted to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with facial lacerations, one punctured lung, and the other lung was not operating at full capacity. The contact's daughter remained in the ICU for four days. The contact was able to exit the vehicle. The contact sustained a broken left toe and burns on the left arm from the air bag deployment. The contact received medical assistance. A police report was filed, but the contact did not have the police report number available. The vehicle was towed and totaled. The vehicle rental company was notified of the failure. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was not available.
My car (Toyota Camry) was struck in the driver's side door and back passenger door by another car who was traveling at a high rate of speed. The accident resulted in damage to the doors and to the frame of the car. I suffered neck and head injury due to the accident. The side curtain air bag did NOT deploy. The car was inspected by the owner/manager of the auto body repair shop and it was his opinion that given the severity of the accident that the air bag should have deployed. Due to the frame damage and other damage the car is considered by the insurance company to be a total loss.

THE CONSUMER DID NOT RECEIVE MEDICAL ATTENTION AT THE SCENE BUT SOUGHT MEDICAL TREATMENT AT A LOCAL HOSPITAL. THE CONSUMER WAS TREATED FOR A HEADACHE, NECK PAIN, CHEST PAIN, UPPER BACK PAIN, AND BLURRED VISION. THE OTHER DRIVER DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AT THE SCENE AND TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. FRONT END WAS TOTALED, FRAME EXPOSED, AREA SURROUNDING AIRBAG TRIGGER OBVIOUSLY SMASHED AND EXPOSED, YET NO AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT! THIS VEHICLE REAR-ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE (STATIONARY) WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40-45MPH. MY DAUGHTERS HEAD BROKE THE WINDSHIELD. AN APPROPRIATE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS. I THOUGHT THIS WAS A SAFE CAR. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AND SAVE OTHERS.
TAKATA RECALL - THE KNEE AIRBAG DEPLOYED AFTER A REAR END LOW IMPACT CRASH ON 11/09/18. THE BAG DEPLOYED TOWARD MY ANKLE WHICH WAS ON THE BREAK WITH SUCH FORCE THAT IT CRUSHED MY ANKLE, COMPOUND FRACTURE WITH DISLOCATION AND DESTRUCTION OF LIGAMENTS AND TENDONS OF THE ANKLE JOINT. THE BONE WAS TURNED AT A 90 DEGREE ANGLE. THIS REQUIRED BEING SENT TO THE SHOCK TRAUMA UNIT AT A TRAUMA HOSPITAL IN MEMPHIS, TN. I HAD EXTENSIVE SURGERY ON MY ANKLE AND AN EXTERNAL FIXATOR, WHICH I WILL WEAR UNTIL AROUND MID JANUARY. THEN A WEIGHT BEARING CAST AND EXTENSIVE PHYSICAL THERAPY. THE FIRST DEPUTY ON SITE SAID IT WAS OBVIOUS THE AIRBAG MORE THAN LIKELY CAUSED THE DAMAGE TO MY ANKLE. THERE WAS NO OTHER DAMAGE TO THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR OR FLOOR BOARD AND NO DAMAGE TO THE BREAK OR ACCELERATOR. I HAD NO OTHER INJURIES, OTHER THAT A SLIGHT BUMP ON THE HEAD FROM THE OTHER AIRBAG. I DID HAVE MY SEATBELT ON. I WAS TOLD AT THE HOSPITAL THAT I WAS LUCKY I DIDN'T LOSE MY FOOT, THIS AIRBAG SEEMED TO PROJECT FORCEFULLY DIRECTLY INTO MY ANKLE/FOOT AREA AND I IMMEDIATELY FELT MY ANKLE GO NUMB AND I COULDN'T MOVE IT. THE BONE PROTRUDED OUT OF MY SKIN AND WAS TURNED 90 DEGREES OTHER SURROUNDING BONE WAS FRAGMENTED. SINCE THERE WERE BONE FRAGMENTS THAT WERE TOO SMALL TO REPAIR, THIS WILL COMPLICATE COMPLETE RECOVERY FROM MY INJURY. I HAVE PHOTOS, BUT I WAS UNABLE TO UPLOAD.
