VAN AT STOP SIGN. ANOTHER VEHICLE IN FRONT OF BLAZER HAD STOPPED JUST AS BLAZER WAS MAKING A TURN. HAD APPLIED BRAKES QUICKLY, BUT BLAZER CONTINUED ON & REARENDED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. NO DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAG. *AK
ABS LIGHT IS ON & HAS BEEN COMING ON BUT GOING OFF ....WAS NOT AWARE THERE WAS A RECALL TIL A FRIEND TOLD ME TO CHECK IT AFTER I HAD A WRECK!!!! I NOW FOUND OUT THAT THE ABS MIGHT HAVE HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT...DUE TO MY WRECK I AM GOING TO BE SEEING A DOCTOR FOR MY INJURIES .... I WAS GOING AROUND A CURVE WHEN I WENT TO SLOW DOWN A LITTLE BIT ...I WAS GOING 25...& MY TRUCK SLID & WHEN I WENT TO TURN TO GO AROUND THE CURVE MY TRUCK JERKED TO THE LEFT & I HIT A BARRIER, AND NOW I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE MY TRUCK .... FAILURES: BRAKES & ABS SYSTEM. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED SUDDENLY THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND VEHICLE ACCELERATED AT A HIGH SPEED. BRAKES FAILED TO HOLD WHEN THEY WERE DEPRESSED TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE IMPACTED A POLE. *AK
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM CHEVROLET APPROX 3 WEEKS AFTER MY DAUGHTER'S ACCIDENT. THEY HAVE PERFORMED TESTING, BUT SAID THE TESTS ARE INCONCLUSIVE AND DENY RESPONSIBILITY. THE 4-WD TEST INDICATED NO PROB. BUT THE VEH. WAS NOT IN 4WD AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. GOOD WEATHER AND ROAD CONDITIONS, SKIP MARKS INDICATE TO ME THAT THE ABS DID IN FACT FAILED OR MALFUNCTIONED. PRODUCT LIABILITY PERSON IS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTACT, BUT FINALLY GOT BACK WITH ME AND TOLD ME TO HAVE THE DAMAGES REPAIRED, THEN THEY WILL DO THE RECALL WORK ON THE BRAKES. IF THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES, THEN WHY WOULD THEY DO THE RECALL WORK? I FEEL WE ARE BEING DECEIVED AND NEED HELP RESOLVING THIS WITH CHEVROLET. THE RECALL NOTICE CLEARLY STATES THERE IS A PROBLEM AND IT MAY RESULT IN LONGER STOPPING DISTANCES AND POSSIBLY A VEHICLE CRASH. IT SURE DID. I THANK GOD THAT MY DAUGHTER WAS NOT SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED BECAUSE OF THEIR DELAY IN GETTING A RECALL NOTICE OUT ON A 1992 VEHICLE!!!*AK
CONSUMER'S HUSBAND WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 8MPH ,TURNING INSIDE OF A PARKING LOT WHERE HIS WIFE WAS STANDING WAITING FOR HIM TO PICK HER UP, HUSBAND WENT TO APPLY BRAKES, VEHICLE JUMPED FORWARD AND PINNED HER UP AGAINST ANOTHER VEHICLE, AND CRUSHING HER LEFT FOOT SEVERELY. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM. ABS ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM WAS DEFECTIVE. *AK
TIRE TREAD COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM TIRE WHILE TRAVELING AT 65MPH. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL AND CRASHED INTO CENTER HIGHWAY DIVIDER. TIRE TREAD WAS ADEQUATE AT TIME OF ACCIDENT. TIRES WERE BOUGHT FROM SEARS IN SEP 95 AND WERE STILL WITHIN THE 5O,OOO MILE WARRANTY. ACCIDENT WAS REPORTED TO THE NEVADA HIGHWAY PATROL - CASE NUMBER L2000-0049997-P. VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. *AK( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P235/75R15 )
CHILD RESTRAINT BELTS IN REAR DID NOT RESTRAIN CHILDREN, FRONT PASSENGER BELT DOES NOT LOCK ALL THE TIME, RESULTING IN INJUSY TO CHILDREN AND PASSENGER IN AN ACCIDENT THAT WAS DUE TO THE ABS BRAKES
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 40MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND VEHICLE JUST STOPPED IN FRONT OF THE BLAZER. APPLIED FOOT TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE BLAZER JUST KEPT GOING AND HITTING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF THE BLAZER. *AK *NLM
THE ABS SYSTEM ON THE TRUCK FAILED TO STOP THE TRUCK, AND THE TRUCK ROLLED OVER AS A RESULT. *AK
WHILE DRIVING THE FRONT BRAKES WENT OUT WHICH CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, ONCE THE VEHICLE CRASHED HAD TO CUT THE SEAT BELT TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. UNDER INVESTIGATION EA 94 038. *AK WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED VEHICLE DID NOT STOP, PULLING VEHICLE INTO AN UNCONTROLLABLE VEARING,CAUSING VEHICLE TO BE PULLED INTO A DITCH ON SIDE OF THE ROAD, CAUSING VEHICLE TO ROLL OVER ,ALSO SHOULDER LAP BELT BUCKLE FAILED TO RELEASE.*JB
MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER FAILED, CAUSING ACCIDENT/INJURIES. *DSH
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS IN A LINE OF TRAFFIC STOPPED WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO REAR END ANOTHER VEHICLE. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER TO SEE IF THIS VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR ANY RELATED FAILURES. *AK THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO LOCATE A PROBLEM. *NM

PART NOMBER FOR BALL JOINTS HAVE NEVER CHANGED ON NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 011018000 COMPONENT: SUSPENSION:INDEPENDENT FRONT CONTROL ARM UPPER BALL JOINT RECALL DATE 1/07/02 1996 BLAZER/ GM HAS AGRED TO REPLACE UPPER BALL JOINTS AT NO COST . THERE SEEMS TO ME A PATTERN OF SERVICE BULLITENS OVER THE YEARS TO MAKE SURE TO CHECK BALL JOINTS AND THEN IN 1996 AGREE TO REPLACE THEM AT NO CHARGE. I TALKED TO GM ABOUT THIS, FAILURE OF UPPER BALL JOINTS ON MY BLAZER . WITH THE SAME PART NO. FOR JOINTS ALSO THE NEW BALL JOINTS INSTALLED ARE THE SAME PART NO. THEY GAVE ME NO ANSWER SAID THEY ARE GLAD THAT NO ONE WAS HURT , SOMETHING IS VERY ODD HERE ON THIS PROBLEM . AND THEN THEY SAID GOODBYE. *AK
FOLLOWING ANOTHER CAR ON NORTH 75 OHIO 6/29/00 @ 63-67MPH ABOUT 3-4 LTHS. BEHIND, WHEN THE CAR IN FRONT HIT THE BRAKES I THEN HIT MY BRAKES AND IT WAS LIKE A SEC. BEFORE THEY WOULD CATCH , THATS WHEN I HIT THE OTHER CAR IN FRONT OF MINE.THE OHIO STATE POLICE REPORT STATES THAT MY CAR USED ONLY THE RIGHT SIDE FRONT, AND REAR BRAKES.*AK
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 25MPH AS SHE WAS APPROACHING A CURB SHE WENT TO TURN, AND THE STEERING WHEEL WOULDN'T TURN. THERE WAS A TREE IN FRONT OF VEHICLE. CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKES, AND VEHICLE VEERED OVER INTO THE GRASS AREA, HITTING THE TREE. SHE CALLED A TOW TRUCK WHICH BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO DEALER'S REPAIR SHOP. A MECHANIC TOLD CONSUMER THAT THE IDLE LOOSENED FROM THE FRAME. *AK
WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED PEDAL GOES PARTIALLY TO THE FLOOR, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. DEALER HAS INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. *AK.
RECALL 99041. ABS SYSTEM DEFAULTED PERIODICALLY ON BARELY WET SURFACES, APPLYING BRAKES, TRUCK WILL NOT DECELERATE AND WILL KEEP GOING, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. DEALER CONTACTED, AND VEHICLE NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL. ACCIDENT RESULTED FROM PROBLEM. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
OWNER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO FAULTY ABS BRAKES. THERE WAS NO BRAKING POWER WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED. AUTO REPAIR CENTER LOOKED AT PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT THER WAS A DEFECT IN ABS AND OTHER COMPONENTS WITHIN BRAKING SYSTEM.*AK

BRAKES: DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15MPH, APPROACHING AN ACCIDENT AND ATTEMPTING TO STOP, THE BRAKES FAILED AND REAR ENDED A VEHICLE. ONE WEEK AGO, DRIVING AND PUTTING FOOT ON BRAKES AND THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR AND DID NOT STOP. *AK
