THE 2001 CHEVY BLAZER WE WERE RIDING AND HYDROPLANED DOING 45-50 MPH. THE VEHICLE SPUN AROUND 3 TIMES AND THEN ROLLED OVER TWICE. THE ROOF CAVED IN ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE, CAUSING MY WIFE TO BREAK HER NECK. SHE WAS IN NICU FOR 6 WEEKS, AT WHICH POINT SHE DIED DUE TO COMPLICATIONS FROM PNEUMONIA. *JB
2001 CHEVROLET BLAZER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO IGNITION SWITCH RECALL ISSUES ALSO AIRBAGS AND SEAT BELTS MALFUNCTION DURING ACCIDENT. *SMD THE CONSUMER AND HER SON WERE INVOLVED IN A ROLL OVER ACCIDENT. AS A RESULT, HER SON DIED. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET BLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE SIDE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO BOUNCE OFF THE SECOND VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE LEFT ANKLE AND KNEES, AS WELL AS A BROKEN THUMB. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL AS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED FOR THE CAUSE OF FAILURE NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 122,000.
A FRONTAL IMPACT OCCURRED AT 40 MPH AS ANOTHER MOTORIST PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT BELT DID NOT PROPERLY RESTRAIN ME AND I WAS FORCED INTO THE ROOF AT THE TRIM EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD, SUSTAINING A MINOR SCALP LACERATION, CERVICAL DISC DAMAGE, AND A CONCUSSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED BY NATIONWIDE INSURANCE. *JB
MY DAUGHTER WAS IN A CAR CRASH. UNFORTUNATELY MY DAUGHTER WAS AT FAULT. SHE WAS GOING 55 MPH AND HIT A CAR THAT WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT HER AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. SHE HAS NECK AND BACK PAINS. *JB
DT: CONTACT STATED THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY IN A HEAD ON CRASH. WHILE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 60 MPH THE VEHICLE HYDRO PLANED. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED. THREE PEOPLE SUSTAINED INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED HER THEY HAVE A BUYER FOR THE VEHICLE, AND THEY OFFERED NO FREE REMEDY. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED.*AK
(1) WE OWN A 2001 BLAZER. IN THE PAST OUR VEHICLE HAS BEEN REAR ENDED TWICE, MY WIFE SUFFERED A NECK INJURY IN THE 1ST ACCIDENT. THE 2ND ACCIDENT JUST HAPPENED ABOUT A MONTH OR SO AGO. (2) 2-19-2005 I WAS FOLLOWING MY WIFE HOME ,AFTER HAVING MY OTHER VEHICLE SERVICED,AND NOTICED THE STOP LAMPS WERE NOT WORKING. I GOT ON THE INTERNET ,& FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR 2000--2002 BLAZERS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM NHTSA RECALL 01V364/GM. (3) I CALLED GM AT 1-800-222-1020 GAVE THEM MY VIN NUMBER,THEY SAID MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL .BUT I SHOULD TAKE TO VEHICLE TO A GM DEALER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE ,HAVE THE MULTI-SWITCH REPAIRED,& THEY WOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR THE EXPENSES THEN ,THE FIRST PERSON I SPOKE WITH NEVER CALLED ME BACK AS THEY STATED THEY WOULD,I CALLED HIM BACK TWICE. AFTER NO RESPONSE I CALLED ,& SPOKE WITH ANOTHER PERSON , SHE WAS GOING TO CALL THE LOCATION I HAD THE MULTI-SWITCH REPLACED,& CALL ME BACK , HER CO-WORKER CALLED ME ,& TOLD ME SHE WAS IN A MEETING ,& I SHOULD CALL HER BACK. SINCE THEN I HAVE CALLED HER BACK 3 TIMES,JUST GOT HER VOICE MAIL ! STILL WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM HER. I CAN NOT BELIEVE GM IS NOT TAKING THIS SAFETY PROBLEM SERIOUS!! MY WIFE,& CHILDREN COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT. IF OUR BLAZER IS NOT PART OF A RECALL THEN GM MUST BE TRYING TO HIDE THIS PROBLEM!. *AK

CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP AND ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS COMING HEAD ON WHICH RESULTED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. THERE WAS A VEHICLE BEHIND CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WHICH SHE WAS PUSHED INTO DUE TO THE HEAD ON COLLISION. HOWEVER, UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER SUSTAINED MAJOR INJURIES. *AK
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON US 23 SOUTH BOUND, A LADY IN FRONT OF ME SLAMMED ON HER BRAKES WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH. I SWERVED TO AVOID HITTING HER AND LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE FLIPPED AND I ENDED ON US 23 NORTHBOUND. MY AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. ALL FOUR OF MY TIRES EXPODED. NO ONE WAS KILLED.*AK

DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY IN A CRASH THROUGH: 1. A SIX FOOT TALL WOODEN FENCE AT ALMOST 30MPH, THEN 2. THE EXTERIOR SIDE OF A 2-STORY HOME THAT CONTAINED THE KITCHEN SINK AND PLUMBING FIXTURES, WHILE SMASHING UP AND OVER THE FIFTEEN-INCH CONCRETE FOUNDATION, FRONT-END FIRST.*AK
MY WIFE'S 2001 CHEVY BLAZER MADE A HARD RIGHT TURN ALL BY ITS SELF. SHE CAN'T TURN THE STEERING BACK TO THE LEFT AND ROLLED DOWN A 300 FT CANYON. THANK GOD SHE LIVED TO TELL WHAT HAPPENED. THE CAR WAS A PROBLEM FROM THE DAY WE PURCHASED IT. ONE WEEK INTO OWNERSHIP THE STEERING GEARBOX HAD TO BE REPLACED. 26,000 MILES LATER THE RIGHT WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY FAILED. FAST FORWARD TO FEB 25, 2003 WHILE DRIVING HOME HER BLAZER TURNED RIGHT AND LOCK TO THE RIGHT. FROM DAY ONE WE ALWAYS HEARD A POPPING NOISE BUT THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD FOUND. OUR 2001 BLAZER 4WD FAILED TO ENGAGE . WE WERE TRAVELING EAST ON HIGHWAY 36. IT WAS SNOWING. I PRESSED THE 4WD HI BUTTON AND IT CONTINUED TO BLINK. WE WERE ON A NARROW TWO LANE HIGHWAY AND HAD NO WHERE TO PULL OVER. THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE FAILED TO ENGAGE AND THE BLAZER, WITHIN SECONDS SLIPED OVER THE CLIFF. THE FRONT WHEELS DID NOT LOCK IN. WE ROLLED DOWN THE CLIFF APPROXIMATELY 50 FEET AND HIT A TREE.
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR CRASH OF 70 -75 MPH, AND DRIVER'S SEAT BELT FAILED TO LOCK UP. DRIVER WAS FORCED INTO STEERING WHEEL, AND FRONT WINDSHIELD. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
DURING OPERATION OF VEHICLE, AND UPON APPLYING BRAKES, VEHICLE WAS REAR-ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH. DRIVER WAS TEMPORARILY KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS AND EXAMINED BY MEDICAL PERSONNEL. WHEN DEALERSHIP EXAMINED VEHICLE IT WAS DETERMINED THE CLUSTER MODULE FAILED, PREVENTING BRAKE LIGHTS FROM ACTIVATING. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / DOCUMENTATION.*AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION. SPEED WAS NOT DETERMINED, UPON IMPACT, BOTH AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *AK *YH
ON MAY 12,2001 WHILE DRIVING WESTBOUND ON I-290, A CAR IN THE LEFT LANE CUT ME OFF. I SWERVED MY SUV TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT, AND THE TRUCK LOST CONTROL, TIP OVER ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND STARTED TO ROLLOVER. THE CAR STOPPED ON ITS TOP(ROOF). I HAD TAKEN THE CAR INTO THE DEALER SHIP ON 4/5/01 TO REPAIR THE STABILIZER LINKS/BUSHING, AND ON 4/10/01 THE REAR SPRINGS HAD TO BE RESEATED. I ONLY HAD THIS TRUCK FOR 2.5 MONTHS.*AK
PERIODICALLY WHEN BRAKE PEDAL WAS PRESSED BRAKES WOULD HIT FLOOR WITHOUT VEHICLE STOPPING. WHEN BRAKE PEDAL WAS RELIEVED, VEHICLE WOULD COME TO AN AUTOMATIC STOP REGARDLESS OF SPEED OF VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM HAS CAUSED MINOR INJURIES TO CONSUMER. DEALER HAS NOT IDENTIFIED PROBLEM.*AK

THE CONTACT WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT, BUT NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THERE WAS MODERATE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE POLICE WERE ALERTED, AND A REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED.
