ON FRIDAY OCTOBER 20, 2006. MY SON AND 3 FRIENDS WERE LEAVING A FRIENDS HOUSE. WHEN MY SON APPLIED HIS BRAKE TO SLOW, THE BRAKES FAILED. WHEN THEY FAILED THE ENGINE REVVED COMPLETELY UP, THROTTLED OUT AND SHUT DOWN THE VEHICLE. HE OF COURSE HAD NO BRAKES, BUT NOW NO STEERING, AND THE ENGINE WAS OFF. NOT HAVING ANY CONTROL, THE VEHICLE HIT A LOOSE ROCK, SLID INTO A DITCH WHICH THEN SENT THEM INTO A SERIES OF ROLLOVERS NO LESS THAN 5 NO MORE THEN 7. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. WHEN THEY LANDED 3 OF THE 4 DOORS WERE JAMMED SHUT. AS THEY CLIMB OUT OF THE VEHICLE, THEY NOTICED IT WAS BURNING. IT BURNED FROM BEHIND THE DASH THROUGH THE ENGINE. I HAVE PICTURES IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE. THE WORST INJURY AT THE TIME WAS MY SON'S SHOULDER, THEY WERE CONCERNED IT HAD A WORSE TEAR. NOTHING CAN BE DONE TO FIX THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE NOTIFIED CHEVY AND GM. I AM ALSO TALKING TO AN ATTORNEY NEXT WEEK. THE SERVICE BRAKE HYDRAULIC ANTILOCK RECALL HAS CAUSED ME CONCERN. WE DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS EVER TAKEN FOR IT'S REPAIR. NOW GM CAN'T EVEN FIND OR TRACE YET THE VIN NUMBER. HE HAD ONLY HAD IT 2 WEEKS WHEN WE HAD TO PUT IT IN THE SHOP BECAUSE IT HAD TO BE JUMPED TO START. THEN A WEEK AND A HALF ALMOST 2 WEEKS LATER THE BRAKES GO OUT. SOMETHING MAJOR WENT WRONG, AND HE HADN'T EVEN HAD IT 30 DAYS YET. IT COULD HAVE KILLED 4 KIDS. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT MALFUNCTIONED. *NM

ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK ON SEPT. 21, 2001, I HAD TO SIT ON I-435-E- FREEWAY FOR AN HOUR BECAUSE OF A CAR ACCIDENT. I WAS MOVING NO MORE THAN 5 TO 10 MILES AN HOUR. WHEN I GOT TO I-71-N AND I TOOK I-71 TO THE LINWOOD EXIT GOING 55 TO 60 MILES AN HOUR AND THEN 45 TO 50 MILES AN HOUR AND THEN 55 TO 60 AND THEN 45 TO 50. I EXITED LINWOOD TO THE EAST, OVER TO INDIANA (LINWOOD IS THE 32ND HUNDREND BLOOK). I WENT SOUTH ON INDIANA TO 3318 INDIANA. I PARKED MY CAR AND WENT IN THE HOUSE. I WAS IN THE HOUSE ABOUT 2 TO 3 MINUTES BEFORE MY NEIGHBORS CAME TO MY DOOR AND SAID MY CAR WAS ON FIRE. THEY WERE USING THEIR WATER HOLES TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. MY BETTER-HALF (TRINIDAD MEDELLIN) CAME OUT SIDE AND OPEN THE HOOD OF THE BLAZER. BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME, THE FIRE WAS OUT. SUPERIOR CHEVROLET HAD INFORMED TRINIDAD MEDELLIN THAT SEVERE OIL LEAK WAS PRESENT FROM OIL FILTER ADAPTER HOUSING AND BOTH OIL COOLER LINES AND THIS LEAK CONSTITUTES A SAFETY AND RELIABILITY ISSUE. TRINIDAD DID NOT SEE ANY LEAKS. IF THIS DATA WAS KNOWN TO THE NHTSA UNDER RECALLS, WHY WEREN'T THE CUSTOMERS INFORMED, PER ODI ID: 978897?*AK

I HAVE LOST OVER $5000 TO THIS INCIDENT AND I DEAL WITH ADDED MEDICAL DISABILITIES FROM THIS DEALING WITH CHRONIC BACK, TBI PTSD AND BRAIN INJURY TO LEFT SIDE. CONFIRMED WITH CAT SCAN AND ARMY WOMACK HOSPITAL. DID NOT HAVE HEALTH CARE AT THE TIME. I HAVE HAD IGNITION SWITCH. THE LIGHT BULB DEALING WITH NC TESTING ISSUES COSTING ME WITH TESTING. OHIO THANKS GOODNESS NOT. BUT BRIGHTS DON'T COME ON. RADIO CLOCK STAYS ON DRAINED BATTERY IN THE PAST. ALSO, THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. I OWN A 1996 CHEVY BLAZER. MY GRANDDAUGHTER WAS DRIVING IN WET WEATHER, LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND SLAMMED INTO A ROCK CLIFF. THE CAR IS TOTALED AND I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I BELIEVE THE IMPACT WAS STRONG ENOUGH THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. IT WAS A FRONT END COLLISION AND SHE WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 25 MILES PER HOUR. ALTHOUGH SHE WAS NOT GOING FAST, THE IMPACT WAS VERY HARD, ENOUGH TO TOTAL THE CAR. THE WHOLE FRONT END WAS DESTROYED. SHE WAS VERY LUCKY THAT SHE WAS NOT SERIOUSLY HURT, BUT I AM CONCERNED THAT IF IT HAD BEEN A DIFFERENT SITUATION THAT SHE COULD HAVE BEEN FATALLY WOUNDED IF THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY.*JB

ON SEPTEMBER 5, 2004, MY HUSBAND, MOTHER, 8 YEAR OLD SON, 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, AND 1 YEAR OLD SON, WERE STRANDED IN THE EMERGENCY LANE ON I-66 EAST IN FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA WITH A BROKEN FUEL PUMP. WHILE WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK THEY WERE HIT BY A DRUNK DRIVER WHO WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 100 MPH. THE BLAZER FLIPPED ONTO ITS SIDE AND SKIDDED A GREAT DISTANCE, BEFORE FINALLY COMING TO REST UPSIDE DOWN. MY 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED WHEN THE BACK SEAT, AND THE FRONT SEAT BROKE AND SANDWICHED HER IN BETWEEN THE TWO. SHE BROKE HER JAW WHEN SHE WAS SLAMMED INTO THE SMALL HANDLE ABOVE THE REAR RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. SHE ALSO SUFFERED A BROKEN WRIST AND BROKEN ARM WHEN SHE WAS THROWN INTO THE DOOR. WHEN THE BACK SEAT BROKE IT CAUSED HER TO HIT THE HEADSET OF THE BROKEN FRONT SEAT WHICH IN TURN CAUSED SOME OF HER TEETH TO GO THROUGH HER BOTTOM LIP. MY MOTHER WHO WAS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WAS INJURED WHEN THE ROOF DID NOT HOLD UP IN THE CRASH AND SUFFERED THANKFULLY WHAT WAS CLASSIFIED AS "MINOR" INJURIES, BUT COULD HAVE VERY WELL BEEN MAJOR INJURIES BECAUSE THE ENTIRE RIGHT SIDE FROM FRONT TO BACK DID NOT HOLD UP IN THE ACCIDENT. I DO HAVE MANY PICTURES OF WHAT WAS LEFT OF MY BLAZER, FROM MANY DIFFERENT ANGLES BOTH INSIDE AND OUT. I AM DEEPLY TROUBLED BY THE FACT THAT BOTH SEATS BROKE, AND THE ROOF DID NOT HOLD UP AT ALL. MY 8 YEAR SITTING IN THE REAR CENTER SEAT HAD A LACERATION AND CONCUSSION, MY 1 YEAR OLD SITTING IN THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE SEAT HAD NO INJURIES, AND MY HUSBAND IN THE DRIVERS SEAT SUFFERED MINOR HEAD AND SHOULDER INJURIES. GRANTED THIS COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE, BUT I EXPECTED A LOT MORE OUT OF THE BLAZER THAN WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. *JB

MINOR INJURY TO DRIVERS OF TWO OF THE VEHICLES. CONTACTED GM AND WAS TOLD THAT RECALL WORK HAD BEEN DONE AND SO WOULD NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBLILY ETC. VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED SINCE AS UNABLE TO VERIFY WHAT ACTUAL PROBLEM IS. BRAKES FAILED AGAIN WHEN THE AUTOBODY REPAIR SHOP TOOK IT IN FOR BRAKE CHECK PRIOR TO RETURNING TO US.

I WAS ON MY WAY TO MY SISTER'S HOUSE, I CAME UP TO A STOP SIGN, AND THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. I TRIED PUMPING THE BRAKES, BUT NOTHING, SO I TRIED HOLDING THEM TO THE FLOOR AND STILL NOTHING. THE ROAD DEAD ENDED AND I HAD TO TURN THE VEHICLE, AT WHICH TIME I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND IT WENT IN THE DITCH AND ROLLED ON IT'S SIDE. THE BRAKES WORKED UP TIL THIS POINT, I HAD MADE 5 STOPS PRIOR TO THIS ONE. THERE WERE NO SKID MARKS, BECAUSE THERE WERE NO BRAKES. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OUT OF THE DITCH, AND THE BRAKES WERE TESTED, THEY SEEMED TO WORK AGAIN. I WAS VERY LUCKY, I FOUND OUT LATER, THAT MY BOYFRIEND HAD DRIVEN THE CAR, EARLIER THAT MONTH AND THE BRAKES HAD DONE THE SAME THING TO HIM, HE CHECKED THE BRAKE PADS, BUT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM, AND THE BRAKES SEEMED TO WORK AFTER THAT. I HAVE TALKED TO SEVERAL PEOPLE AND FOUND OUT THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TO A LOT OF PEOPLE. I HAVE TALKED TO A PERSON, WHO HAD WORKED FOR GM FOR OVER 20 YEARS AND HE KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, AND TOLD ME THEY NEVER DID A RECALL, BUT THERE WERE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO BROUGHT THEIR CARS IN FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM, THE BRAKES WOULD RANDOMLY FAIL. I CAN NOT BELIEVE A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN DONE, I WAS VERY LUCKY, SOMEONE ELSE MAY NOT BE. DT

BRAKES FAILED/SKIPPED WHEN I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN TO EXIT OFF MAJOR HIGHWAY. I WAS GOING BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT WHICH WAS 55 MPH, I WAS GOING 50 MPH. AS I PROCEEDED TO SLOW DOWN TO EXIT OFF THE HIGHWAY. I PRESSED THE BRAKES, THE BRAKES SKIPPED AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SPIN 1-2 TIMES. THEN PROCEEDED TO FLIP OVER FOUR TIMES. NO FATALITIES, BUT DRIVER WHO WAS MYSELF WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED AND REQUIRED LEFT ARM AND HAND SURGERY DUE TO DEGLOVING OF HAND AND LACERATED TRICEPS AND SERIOUS GLASS DAMAGE. THE CAR WAS TOTALLED OUT. DRIVER SIDE ROOF WAS CAVED IN AND PASSENGER SIDE ROOF WAS COMPLETELY CAVED IN. BRAKES SEEMED LIKE THEY TRIED TO GRASP THE TIRES FAILED TO DO SO THEREFORE SKIPPING AND CAUSING THE CAR TO GO OUT OF CONTROL. DT
