FAILURE OF AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY IN SEVERE ROLLOVER. SEVERE FRONTEND DAMAGE.
THE BLAZER ROLLED ON ITS SIDE THEN FLIPPED END OVER END LANDING ON ITS FRONT BUMPER.THE BLAZER WAS VERTICAL TO THE GROUND ON ITS BUMPER SUPPORTED BY SOME TREES.I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY NEITHER AIR BAG DEPLOYED. MOST OF THE DAMAGE TO THE BLAZER WAS TO THE FRONT AND BACK BUMPERS AREAS.
THE HANDLE CONTROLLING THE RECLINE FUNCTION ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATS HAS BROKEN. THE DRIVER SIDE WAS REPLACED ONCE WHILE UNDER WARRANTY, BOTH SEATS ARE NOW IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION. AROUND APRIL, 2003, THE HOOD LATCH BROKE AND IT TAKES FOREVER TO MANEUVER TO GET THE HOOD UP TO CHECK THE OIL. *NLM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 CHEVROLET BLAZER. WHILE ENTERING A PARKING LOT AT 20 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TRAVELED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD AND THE SPEED INCREASED TO 45 MPH. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES, BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT OF A BUILDING. THE CONTACT PLACED THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE AND DROVE OUT OF THE BUILDING, BUT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS STILL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY STALLED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED FOUR FRACTURED RIBS, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS PICKED UP BY A TOW TRUCK (PAID FOR BY THE MANUFACTURER) AND TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING AN INVESTIGATOR TO RENDER A DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 884883. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 185,000.
I WAS A FRONT SEAT PASSENGER IN A 1998 CHEVY BLAZER SUV BELONGING TO MY DAUGHTER,WHEN AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. IT WAS A BAD CRASH, BUT I WAS THE ONLY PERSON INJURED. AFTERWARDS IT WAS A STUNNING REVOLUTION TO FIND THIS OUT ABOUT THE AIRBAGS AND IT HAS LEFT ME WONDERING HOW MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE THINK THEY ARE PROTECTED WITH AIRBAGS, WHEN THEY MAY OR MAY NOT WORK ANYWAY. THIS AUTO HAD A PREVIOUS OWNER AND IT SEEMS TO ME THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR LETTING THE NEW BUYER KNOW IF THE AIRBAGS WORK OR DON'T WORK. THANKS. *JB
CONSUMER WAS INJURED BY THE SEAT ADJUSTMENT HANDLE ON THE 1998 CHEVROLET BLAZER.*MR THE CONSUMER AND HER HUSBAND WERE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHEN THE INCIDENT WITH THE SEAT ADJUSTMENT HANDLE OCCURRED. *JB

WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION THAT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ROLL OVER FOUR TIMES. AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER SUSTAINED SEVERE BODY INJURIES, WHICH INCLUDED ONE HUNDRED AND ELEVEN STITCHES AND HAD TO BE HOSPITALIZED FOR ELEVEN DAYS. THE CAUSE HAS YET TO BE DETERMINED. WHILE STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE COLLISION. *AK
1998 BLAZER WENT OUT ROAD INTO 2 DITCHES AND HAD FRONT END DAMAGE AND BOUNCED AROUND . THE FRAME WAS BENT RIGHT WHERE THE RIGHT AIR BAG SENSOR IS LOCATED AND IT DIDN'T GO OFF. FENDER,HOOD,COW,BUMPER,GRILL, MOTOR MOUNT HAD BEEN REPLACED THAT I KNOW OF SO FAR. STILL AT REPAIR SHOP. I PURCHASED THIS CAR BECAUSE AIR BAGS AND SAFETY. THE 2 PEOPLE THAT WERE IN CAR ARE OKAY, THEY WAERE BRUISED AND SORE.*AK
I OWN A 1998 BLAZER ON 10-19-O3 IT WAS HIT FROM REAR. SINCE THIS TIME THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON AND EVERYTHING ON THAT SWITCC MALFUNCTIONS. I HAVE NOTICED ON ONE OCASION THAT SMOKE CAME FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. I DO NOT WANT TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT.*AK
I AM WRITING CONCERNING A 1998 CHEVROLET BLAZER THAT I OWNED UNTIL JUST RECENTLY. I WAS ON MY WAY HOME AND WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHICH DESTROYED THE FRONT END OF THE BLAZER WHEN IT STRUCK THE MEDIAN WALL. WHEN THIS HAPPENED, NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED IN THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE. I WILL BE CONTACTING GENERAL MOTORS CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. I ALSO HAVE PHOTOS OF THE VEHICLE AFTER THE ACCIDENT TO VERIFY THAT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *JB
WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE WHICH WAS COMING FROM THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION STRUCK HIS VEHICLE, FORCING HIM OFF THE ROAD AND INTO A TELEPHONE POLE, DURING THE ACCIDENT THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY, ONE PERSON WAS INJURED IN ACCIDENT. (ATTORNEY FOR CLIENT).*YH *JG
AFTER TURNING A CORNER, THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY SHUT OFF, CAUSING ME TO COAST THROUGH A RED LIGHT. IN DOING SO, I WAS STRUCK BY AN ONCOMING VEHICLE. BOTH VEHICLES WERE TOTALED IN THE ACCIDENT. THREE PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THIS ACCIDENT WERE INJURED, INCLUDING MYSELF. IN A SEPERATE INCIDENT, THE RADIATOR BLEW APART, LEAKING COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID. DEALERSHIP FOUND VEHICLE LEAKING FROM TOP OF TRANSMISSION LINE FROM RADIATOR. THEY REPLACED COUPLER FITTING AND O-RING AND ADDED 6 QUARTS OF TRANSMISSION FLUID (AT THEIR EXPENSE).

WAS TRAVELING APPROX. 50-55MPH AND WENT AROUND A CORNER; ROAD HAD UNEVEN SHOULDERS. TOOK FOOT OFF ACCELERATOR PEDAL, AND VEHICLE ACCELERATED INTO A DITCH. NOTICED AND TRIED TO CORRECT, AND VEHICLE HIT DITCH AND CRASHED. AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. DRIVER WAS HOSPITALIZED WITH AN INJURED BACK, CRUSHED 2ND VETERBRAE. *AK
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF CONSUMER. CONSUMER'S VEHICLE HIT FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF OTHER VEHICLE WHICH CAUSED AIR BAGS IN OTHER VEHICLE TO DEPLOY. HOWEVER, FRONTAL AIR BAGS IN CONSUMER'S VEHICLE FAILED TO DEPLOY. CONSUMER WAS WEARING LAP AND SHOULDER BELT, AND NEEDED 62 STITCHES FOR INJURIES. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/ATTACHMENTS.*AK
WHILE DRIVING, CONSUMER NOTICED A SEMI TRUCK HAD JACK-KNIFED, CONSUMER WENT AROUND THE TRUCK AND THE FRONT WHEEL HIT A DITCH CAUSING VEHICLE TO FLIP UPSIDE DOWN, ANOTHER SEMI ATTEMPTED TO GO AROUND THE DISABLED TRUCK WHEN IT TOO JACK-KNIFED HITTING CONSUMER'S VEHICLE SENDING IT 175 FEET, THERE WAS NO ROLL BAR IN VEHICLE WHICH WOULD HAVE HELPED IN THE SITUATION, CONSUMER WAS INJURED (MINOR) IN ACCIDENT. *SLC
AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY IN COLLISION ACCIDENT WHICH OCCURRED ON 12/18/00. BLAZER WAS TOTALLED. BLAZER WAS TRAVELING AT ESTIMATED SPEED OF 25 MPH UPON IMPACT FROM SECOND VEHICLE.*AK
THERE WAS NO DEPLOYMENT OF THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS WHEN THE BLAZER WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON CRASH, TRAVELING AT 55 MPH. THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF BLAZER REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE,THAT VECHILE THEN SPUN AROUND AND CRASHED HEAD ON INTO THE BLAZER, CONSUMER WAS INJURED IN THE ACCIDENT (LEG AND BACK). *CJ
