DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE, RAN INTO A HOUSE, EJECTING DRIVER FROM VEHICLE. A SMALL FIRE STARTED IN THE ENGINE, SOMEONE TRIED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE, BUT IT KEPT BURNING , CAUSING DAMAGE TO HOUSE AND TOTALING VEHICLE. FUEL PUMP DID NOT SHUT DOWN. SEATBELT MAY HAVE FAILED; THERE WAS A RECALL TO REPLACE BELTS FOLLOWING COLLISION. *AK
RECALL 97V096001; WHILE DRIVING DEFECTIVE SEATBELT DID NOT LOCK UP IN A ROLLOVER CRASH IN WHICH DRIVER DIED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
VEHICLE REARENDED AT 70 MPH. THE VEHICLE IGNITED ON IMPACT. DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE. THERE WERE ABOUT (3) EXPLOSIONS AFTER THE VEHICLE CAME TO REST. VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED AND DRIVER WAS ABLE TO ESCAPE WITH MINOR INJURIES. *AK
REAR SEAT BELT WERE INCOMPATIBLE FOR BOOSTER SEAT RESULTING IN FATALITY DURING COLLISION, RESTRAINT FAILURE.(ATTORNEY FOR CONSUMER).
HIT EIGHTEEN WHEELER HEAD ON AND AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE WAS HIT FROM BEHIND AND THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATBELT SHOULDER STRAPS FAILED CAUSING INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AT THE SCENE. ALTHOUGH THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED NO REPAIRS WERE MADE.
MY BROTHER HAD A FRONT END COLLISION AND ROLLOVER AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *NM
DT: THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A WRECK WHILE DRIVING 35-45 MPH, AND THE AIR BAG ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WAS NOT WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD. CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS HIT FROM BEHIND, AND WAS PUSHED INTO A TELEPHONE POLE. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. TWO PEOPLE WERE HURT. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT-END COLLISION. THE SEAT BELT DID NOT RESTRAIN THE DRIVER AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY CAUSING THE DRIVER'S STOMACH TO HIT THE STEERING WHEEL AND HER HEAD TO HIT THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. *AK *SC THE CONSUMER LEARNED THERE WAS A RECALL REGARDING THE SEAT BELTS. WHILE TRAVELING DOWN A DRIVEWAY AT 20 MPH, AN ANIMAL JUMPED OUT IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER SWERVED TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT AND HIT A TREE. THE DRIVER SUFFERED A CONCUSSION, DUE TO THE AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOYING. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *NM
SLID ON ICY ROAD DOING ABOUT 65 MPH HIT AN EMBANKMENT HEAD ON AND ROLLED ABOUT 3 TIMES BLAZER IS TOTALED ALL SENSORS HIT IN THE FRONT AND DRIVERS AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY. *LA
WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. AS A RESULT CONSUMER HIT HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
MY SON HIT A FENCE AND THEN A LIGHT POLE, FRONT END BENT IN, AXLE BROKE, FRAME BENT, HE HIT THE STEERING WHEEL AND AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. SEAT BELT DID NOT CATCH EITHER. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT TO DO. DT
LEFT FRONT IMPACT TO ROCK HILLSIDE FAILED TO DEPLOY DRIVERS AIR BAG. *AK
ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE. WHILE DRIVING ON SNOW GENTLY PRESSED ON BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW DOWN, AND T BRAKES LOCKED UP, SENDING VEHICLE IN A SPIN. BRAKES WERE REAL SOFT, THEN BECAME HARD. THERE WAS A CAR ACCIDENT WHEN RUNNING INTO A SIGN. HAS NOT CONTACTED THE DEALER YET.*AK
TRAVELING 63MPH APPROACHING SLOWING/STOPPING TRAFFIC FROM A DISTANCE. GRADUALLY BEGAN SLOWING VEHICLE AND APPLYING INCREASED BRAKE PRESSURE. TRAFFIC THEN STOPPED, APPLIED HEAVY PRESSURE-BOTH FEET ON PEDAL, HANDS BRACED ON WHEEL AND BODY THRUST BACK IN THE SEAT. BRAKE PEDAL WAS SOFT AND TO THE FLOOR AND VEHICLE DID NOT STOP. ABS DID NOT WORK - NO "CHK, CHK, CHK" SOUND AND NO PULSATING. RESULTED IN REAR END COLLISION. NOTICED THAT AN ABS RECALL EXISTS FOR MODEL OF VEHICLE MANUFACTURED IN SAME MONTH/YEAR (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID#: 99V193000) BUT WAS TOLD BY CHEVROLET THAT THIS VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED BECAUSE IT IS A 1997 MODEL.
THIS HAS BEEN TAKEN INTO THE SAME DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR BRAKE PROBLEMS WITHOUT ANY SATIFACTORY ANSWERS. THE LAST TIME WAS ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO WHEN I FINALLY GAVE UP AND HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT TRADING IT OFF IN THE NEAR FUTURE WHEN I CAN AFFORD TO. AT THE LAST EFFORT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WITH THE SERVICE MGR, HE TOLD ME THAT THE CARACTERISTICS OF THE BRAKE PEDAL SLOWLY GO TO THE FLOOR AT A STOP SIGN OR LITE IS NORMAL. HE SAID" THIS IS CAUSED BY THE BRAKE LINES EXPANDING" AND IS NORMAL WITH THE 97 BLAZERS. BRAKING PROBLEM STILL EXISTS TODAY.*AK

THE VECHILE WAS COMING UP TO A STOPLIGHT. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING MY 1997 CHEVY BLAZER. SHE PUSHED DOWN ON THE BRAKES AND NOTHING HAPPENED. SHE TRIED AGAIN AND STILL NOTHING. SHE AND MY YOUNGER DAUGHTER CRASHED INTO A SEMITRUCK TRAILER. THE POLICE ESTIMATE HER SPEED AT 28 MPH. THERE ARE NO SKID MARKS. THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK. *AK
ON 12/22/99, MY HUSBAND AND I WERE INVOLVED IN AN AUTO ACCIDENT. A WOMAN TWO VEHICLES IN FRONT OF US LOST CONTROL, STRUCK THE CONCRETE DIVIDER, FLIPPED OVER & WOUND UP UPSIDE DOWN PERPENDICULAR IN THE ROAD IN OUR LANE(LEFT LANE). OUR BRAKES FAILED IN OUR VEHICLE & AS A RESULT WE STRUCK THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF US WHO WAS APPEARANTLY PUSHED INTO THE OVERTURNED VEHICLE. OUR VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE AS WE WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. MY HUSBAND DID NOT HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO ADVISE THE INVESTIGATING OFFICER OF HIS BRAKE FAILURE. WHEN THE OFFICER ARRIVED AT THE HOSPITAL, HE TOLD MY HUSBAND HE DID NOT WANT TO HEAR WHAT HE HAD TO SAY BECAUSE THE OFFICER INDICATED HE HAD 2 INDEPENDENT WITNESSES. THE OFFICER ADVISED THE WITNESSES STATED THE VAN IN FRONT OF US HAD STOPPED WITH OUT STRIKING THE OVERTURNED VEHICLE, & THEREFORE WE TOO SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STOP. WE SAW THE FIRST VEHICLE LOSE CONTROL & HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO REACT WITH MORE THAN AMPLE DISTANCE TO STOP. HAD OUR BRAKES NOT HAVE FAILED WE WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STOP & THERE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON 1995-1996 CHEV BLAZERS RELATED TO ABS. THOUGH OUR VEHICLE IS A LATER MODEL, I DO BELIEVE OUR CLAIM SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. I HAVE REPORTED THE CLAIM TO GM AS WELL AS OUR INSURANCE CO.
