TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING 15 MPH, SHE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT IT FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED IT FELT SPONGY. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE DRIVER IN THE OTHER VEHICLE SUSTAINED A BUMP ON HER LEFT SHIN BONE AS SHE WAS STANDING OUTSIDE OF HER VEHICLE PUTTING HER CHILD INTO THE VEHICLE MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED FOR HER INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO KENT CHEVROLET CADILLAC, INC. (1413 HWY 62 E, MOUNTAIN HOME, AR 72653: (888) 536-0357) AND WAS SERVICED FOR THE BODY DAMAGE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED FOR THE BRAKE FAILURE AS OF YET. FORD EDGE: I WAS STOPPED AT A STANDARD 4 WAY INTERSECTION. MY LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I ENTERED TO GO STRAIGHT THROUGH. CADILLAC CTS: FROM LEFT GOING APPROX. 45-50 MPH, RAN THEIR RED. COLLISION AT 90 TO FORD'S FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL AND CADILLAC'S FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. IMPACT SPUN FORD TO APPROX. 300 FROM INITIAL DIRECTION. CADILLAC'S FRONT AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. NO DEPLOYMENT FROM FORD. FORD DRIVER STRUCKDRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW RESULTING IN CONCUSSION.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HWY WHEN I HIT A DEER. DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO BREAK, DRIVING 55MPH WHEN THE IMPACT OCCURRED, TOTAL FRONT END DAMAGE. THE AIR BAG IN MY VEHICLE DID NOT DEPLOY. I WAS LUCKY THAT THE DEER DIDN'T COME THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD, IF SO BODILY DAMAGES WOULD HAVE BEEN ASTRONOMICAL CONSIDERING THE AIR BAG DID NOT DIPLOY DURING A 55 MPH IMPACT CAUSING TOTAL FRONT END DAMAGE TO MY FORD EDGE, IT WAS UNDRIVABLE FROM THE SCENE OF ACCIDENT. HOW DOES A AIR BAG NOT DIPLOY DURING A IMPACT CAUSING SO MUCH FRONT END DAMAGE THE VEHICLE WASUNABLE TO BE DRIVEN FROM THE SCENE?
IN A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH A TELEPHONE POLE, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE ELECTRICAL WOULD JUST SHUT DOWN. BRAKES WERE ACTING STRANGE. ALL WHILE MOVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SWERVE RIGHT AND HOPPED INTO A DITCH AND CRASH INTO A TREE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A LEFT HAND AND CHEST INJURIES THAT NEEDED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOWING YARD. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE IF THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
VEHICLE HAS ROLLED OFF IN PARK AND DID DAMAGE TO VEHICLE THE FIRST TIME. THIS WAS WHEN IT CROSSED THE HIGHWAY AND LANDED IN CREEK.WHEN I HAD IT REPAIRED I WAS TOLD IT PROBABLY HAPPENED WITH PREVIOUS OWNER BECAUSE IT HAD AN AFTERMARKET FRONT BUMPER ON IT. I WAS SITTING IN VEHICLE A FEW WEEKS LATER AND IT ROLLED IN THE PARKING LOT AND I HAD TO SHOVE EMERGENCY BRAKE DOWN. FOUND A RECALL THAT LOOKS LIKE WHAT HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE BUT THE CLAIM IS THAT MY VIN WAS NOT AFFECTED, BUT MATCHES THE DESCRIPTION.
6-2-2015: I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND WAS COMING TO A STOP SIGN. I STEPPED ON BRAKES AND WITHOUT WARNING THE BRAKES DID NOT ENGAGE. I WENT THRU THE STOP SIGN ON MAJOR ROADWAY AT 30 MPH. I WAS HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC TRAVELING AT 45 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AND 3 PEOPLE, MYSELF INCLUDED, WERE INJURED. I OWNED THE VEHICLE LESS THAN 2 MONTHS. MY FIRST FORD IN YEARS. FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT A BRAKE BOOSTER PROBLEM FOR YEARS AND HAS NOT RECALLED THE VEHICLE. FORD'S FIX IS TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTER. I FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS ON GOING PROBLEM WITH THE EDGE AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SALVAGED. I TALKED WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS TOO BAD FOR YOU. I WANTED THE BRAKE BOOSTER CHECKED OUT. FORD SHOULD BE RECALLING ALL THE EFFECTED VEHICLES NOW, BEFORE SOMEBODY IS KILLED. THERE HAVE BEEN OVER 50 COMPLAINTS FILED WITH NHTSA SINCE 2012.
WHILE TRAVELING IN MEXICO, I HIT A BLACK STEER STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AT NIGHT. IT WAS A FULL FRONTAL COLLISION. IT WRAPPED ITSELF AROUND THE COMPLETE FRONT AND BOTH SIDES OF MY VEHICLE BEFORE COMING UP ON THE HOOD. IT ALSO BROKE THE WINDSHIELD. NEITHER THE AIRBAGS NOR THE SIDE CURTAINS DEPLOYED. I HAD IT SENT TO A FORD DEALER, PER THE REQUEST OF FORD MOTOR COMPANY. THEY REPORTED THAT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WAS WORKING JUST FINE. THAT'S VERY PECULIAR. THE FACT REMAINS THAT IN A FULL FRONTAL COLLISION THE AIRBAGS DID NOT WORK AND I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE TRAVELING IN THAT VEHICLE. I CALLED THE NHTSA ON 4/9/15 AT 1-888-327-4236 AND TALKED TO [XXX] WHO GAVE ME A COMPLAINT #10704792 AND SAID SOMEONE WOULD BE CONTACTING ME WITHIN 72 HOURS. NOBODY HAS CONTACTED ME TO THIS DAY. I was t-boned in the intersection of [XXX] and [XXX] in Washington, Utah on [XXX]. The airbags did not deploy in my vehicle. I was not injured or receive medical care. THERE IS A PARTIAL RECALL ON THESE MODEL FORD EDGE'S. WHERE THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER ARE DEFECTIVE AND CAUSE THE BRAKES TO FILL WITH AIR AND LOSE PARTIAL AND SOMETIMES TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKING POWER. THIS HAPPENED TO MY 2012 FORD EDGE SPORT. I BOUGHT NEW FACTORY PARTS AND HAD THEM INSTALLED BY A PROFESSIONAL. THEY WENT OUT AGAIN. IT HAD TO DO WITH HE FACTORY OF THE PARTS. PLEASE PLACE A MASS RECALL ON THIS PART. MY WIFE AND KIDS SHOULDN'T GET INTO A WRECK DUE TO BRAKES GOING OUT AGAIN. THEY ALREADY HAVE TOTALLY GONE OUT TWICE. THE 2ND TIME MY WIFE WITH DAUGHTER AND MY SON IN THE CAR COULDNT SLOW DOWN IN TIME AND GOT INTO A FENDER BENDER. IT WASN'T SERIOUS. THIS TIME. THANK YOU. ALSO, ANOTHER PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN NOTED BY THOUSANDS OF FORD EDGE OWNERS IS THE STYLE OF FUEL DOOR. IT DOESN'T SEAL PROPERLY WHICH IN RETURN CAUSES A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO APPEAR ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE AS SELL. THANK YOU.
"TAKATA RECALL' - I CANNOT COUNT HOW MANY TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE. THE BREAKS JUST REFUSES TO FUNCTION AND THE SPEED WOULD NOT DECREASE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE BREAKS AND THEY ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. LAST SUNDAY (SEPTEMBER 8,), MY FAMILY AND I ALMOST DIED ON THE WAY TO CHURCH. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP!!! IT FINALLY CAME TO A HALT AFTER BEEN STOPPED BY A PAVEMENT. I HAD TO CALL FORD FOR A TOW TRUCK (WHICH I HAD TO PAY FOR BUT THEY GAVE ME A DISCOUNT). MY CAR HAS BEEN WITH THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR THREE DAYS NOW. THEY KEEP SAYING THAT THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT - THIS WAS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME AND 1-2 MONTHS LATER, WE ARE BACK AT THE EXACT SAME SPOT!! THERE ARE SEVERAL PEOPLE ONLINE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE. WHO ELSE IS SUPPOSED TO DIAGNOSE A CAR BUT THE MANUFACTURER?!! IF THE MANUFACTURER CANNOT FIND WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT, THEN THE WORLD IS IN BIG TROUBLE. I THANK GOD FOR ALWAYS PROTECTING MYSELF AND MY FAMILY. MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION FROM HIGHWAY TO TURNING TO RED LIGHT. MY BRAKES HAVE BEEN ROUTINELY SERVICED AND BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACED . THE PADDLE GOES ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR. I JUST HAD THE WORKS DONE LAST WEEK ON APRIL 10TH 2019 . WELL TODAY WE WEREN'T SO LUCKY. WE LEFT FOR VACATION AND IN VIRGINIA WE GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE BRAKES FAILED ON US .

BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED NEARLY KILLING US IN DEC 2015 AS WE ROLLED INTO AN INTERSECTION. LUCKILY NOBODY HIT US. REPAIRED JAN 2016 UNDER CUST SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N02 BY FORD, LIKELY TO AVOID A REAL RECALL. REPLACEMENT BOOSTER HAS NOW FAILED ALMOST CAUSING ANOTHER ACCIDENT AFTER A YEAR AND 1/2 AND 15K MILES AS WIFE HAD TO RUN OFF ROAD TO AVOID STOPPED TRAFFIC BECAUSE SHE HAD NO BRAKES. WHY HAS NHTSA NOT FORCED A RECALL? IT IS LITERALLY IS A SITUATION WHERE THOUSANDS OF THESE CARS ARE ROLLING AROUND WITH ADULTS AND YOUNG DRIVERS NOT KNOWING THAT AT SOME POINT THEY'LL NEED TO STOP AND THEY WILL HAVE ZERO BRAKES. IS ANYBODY READING THESE? YES IF YOU PUSH TO THE FLOOR HARD AND HOLD IT TIGHT IT WILL EVENTUALLY STOP AS A CRUDE MANUAL BRAKE. KIDS HAVE NEVER DRIVEN A CAR WITHOUT POWER BRAKES! THE REST OF US AREN'T EXPECTING IT SINCE NO WARNING SIGNS. FORD IS SIMPLY INSTALLING THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART ENDANGERING LIVES. I ROLLED INTO THE BACK OF A JEEP SLOWLY, 2MPH, WHILE STANDING ON MY BRAKE PEDAL WITH NO HYDRAULIC PRESSURE AT ALL. WE MOVED TO THE SHOPPING MALL PARKING LOT, BRAKE PRESSURE WAS RESTORED. BRAKES STARTED BECOMING DIFFICULT TO APPLY REGARDLESS OF SPEED, ETC. MOST OFTEN MOST DIFFICULT TO APPLY AFTER THE CAR WAS SHUT OFF FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE BOOSTER. SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE ATTEMPTED TO BACK THE CAR OUT OF THE SERVICE BAY THE BOOSTER FAILED. COULDN'T STOP THE CAR SO HE PUT IT IN DRIVE AND IT LUNGED FORWARD AND HIT A CAR LIFT, CREASING THE FRONT BUMPER, BEFORE IT STOPPED. ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE THE BOOSTER AND THE DEALER SAID IT "FAILED" IN THE BOX. NUMBER THREE BOOSTER WAS INSTALLED AND IT FAILED. MASTER CYLINDER ALSO FAILED. THE DEALER CLAIMS THE NEW MASTER CYLINDER AND THE FOURTH BOOSTER IS WORKING FINE. CAR IN THE BODY SHOP GETTING THE FRONT BUMPER REPAIRED. FORD REGIONAL CUSTOMER CARE REPRESENTATIVE WAS TO CALL ME AND THREE DAYS HAVE PASSED WITHOUT ANY RESPONSE. NO ONE CARE TELL ME FORD HAS CORRECTED ANYTHING. ALL THEY ARE DOING IS THROWING PARTS WITH AN ATTEMPT IT WILL FIX ITSELF. *TR
