AFTER MY ACCIDENT BACK IN APRIL 2000 EXITING THE EXPRESS WAS I WAS SLOWING DUE TO A RED LIGHT, A CAR FROM BEHIND REAR ENDED MY 1995 CHRYSLER JEEP . AT THE TIME I HAD NOT RELATED THE FAILURE OF THE SEAT BELT CONTROL LATCHES TO ANYTHING. I KNEW MY BODY HAD GONE FORWARD I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT AT THE TIME. UNTIL MY, DAUGHTER LATER DIED FROM SKULL DAMAGE. I WAS 5 MONTHS INTO MY FIRST PREGNANCY ABOUT TWO MONTHS LATER THE BABY DIED. THE SONOGRAM SHOWED SKULL DAMAGE. I STILL AT THE TIME HAD NOT BUT THE CONNECTION TO THE SEAT BELT BEING UNSECURED LATCHES, I HAD NOTICE IT BUT REALLY WASN'T CONCERN AT THE TIME. I LATER FILED A COMPLAINT WITH DAIMLER CHRYSLER CONCERNING THE SEAT BELT THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER HOWEVER, I NEVER HEARD FROM THEM. THEN I CAME ACROSS THE CASE WHERE THE LADY WAS SUITING OVER THE SEAT BELTS, HOWEVER THE ATTORNEY DID NOT WANT TO TAKE THE CASE AT THE TIME. I WAS IN FLORIDA AND THEY WERE FROM TEXAS. NOR COULD I FIND ANYONE WHO WOULD TAKE THE CASE TO PURSUIT THE DAIMLER CHRYSLER COMPANY AT THE TIME. THE COMPLAINTS WITH THE SEAT BELTS WHERE NOT SO PLENTIFUL AS THEY ARE NOW, I STILL FEEL TO THIS DAY (SERRIA) WOULD BE ALIVE IF THE SECURITY OF THE SEAT BELT HARNESS WHERE LOCKING PROPERLY, MY DAUGHTER WOULD BE ALIVE TODAY. MY BACK WOULD NOT HAVE 2 DISK OUT OF PLACE, AND THE NEED OF BACK SURGERY. *TR
POT HOLE OR SPEED BUMP CAUSES JEEP XJ/ CHEROKEE RIGHT MOTOR MOUNT ENGINE BOLTS TO SNAP CAUSING FIRES AND FLOPPING OF ENGINE ON IT'S SIDE. MY XJ HAS FAILED 4 TIMES SINCE NEW MANY ON THE WEB HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. I FOUND 30 ON ONE SITE THAT HAD IDENTICAL PROBLEMS SOME WITH FIRE. SOME CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL. *JB
WHEN SHIFTING INTO REVERSE THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED FORWARD, CAUSING A COLLISION TO OCCUR. VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE SAFETY IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN #97I002000. ALSO, DEALER INSTALLED THE SHIFT INTERLOCK WHICH HAS NOT REMEDIED THE PROBLEM. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
SUDDEN ACCELERATION OF VEHICLE CAUSED ACCIDENT/INJURIES/FATALITY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND WHEN THE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE AIR BAGS HAD A DELAYED DEPLOYMENT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED SOME BROKEN RIBS AND INJURIES TO THE NECK, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 99V340000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) AND 95V057000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 294,000. UPDATED 08/02/16*LJ
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 20 MPH WHEN A CHILD RAN IN FRONT OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. IN AN ATTEMPT TO AVOID CRASHING INTO THE CHILD, THE CONTACT SWERVED AND CRASHED INTO A DITCH. ONE OF THE TIRES RUPTURED AND THE AIR BAGS ALSO DEPLOYED. THE AIR BAG STRUCK THE CONTACT IN THE FACE, CAUSING INJURY TO THE CONTACT'S EYE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REPLACE THE TIRE WITH A SPARE AND DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND THE CURRENT WAS 240,778.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE IN A FRONT END COLLISION THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. WHILE DRIVING AT 30-35 MPH ANOTHER VEHICLE PULLED IN FRONT OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE, RESULTING A FRONTAL IMPACT. A POLICE REPORT TAKEN AT THE SCENE. THE SEAT BELT WAS IN USE, BUT THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES BY HITTING THE STEERING WHEEL. THE INJURIES WERE CHEST PAIN, NECK PAIN, AND HEADACHES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A CITY LOT, AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY DEEMED IT A TOTAL LOSS. THE INSURANCE COMPANY DID NOT INVESTIGATE THE AIR BAG FAILURE. VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND RUNNING INSIDE OF GARAGE, IT WAS ON AND IN PARK. THEN, VEHICLE JUMPED INTO REVERSE, AND PINNED CONSUMER AGAINST THE WALL. CONSUMER SUSTAINED INJURIES. *AK
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING 60-70MPH AND ANOTHER VEHICLE STARTED TO FISHTAIL & HIT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE IN FRONT. SEAT BELT WAS LOCKED & HOLDING THE PASSENGER IN PLACE, BUT BROKE LOOSE BEFORE IMPACT, CAUSING PASSENGER'S HEAD TO HIT WINDOW. CONSUMER HASN'T SPOKEN TO THE DEALER YET.*AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, SEATBACK FOLDED FORWARD, CAUSING MINOR INJURIES. MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
WHILE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING SHE WAS HIT FROM THE MIDDLE OF HER CAR, AND THE REAR SEATBELT WHICH WAS HOLDING HER BABY, BROKE. THE TRUCK WAS TOTALED. *AK
I WAS LEAVING MY PARKING SPACE IN THE SECOND LINE OF CARS AND WAS PROCEEDING TO MOVE FORWARD AND THEN TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN. AS I PLACED MY HANDS, MY LEFT HAND AT NOON AND MY RIGHT HAND AT 6 AND JUST INITIATED THE TURN, I HEARD A 'CLICK' THAT CAME FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. AT THAT POINT THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED CAUSING ME TO TURN LEFT INSTEAD OF RIGHT AND THEN INTO THE FIRST ROW OF CARS. THE IMPACT FORCED MY HANDS OFF THE WHEEL AND THE POSITION OF THE CAR FROM TURNING RIGHT TO A LEFT. AS I WAS PROPELLED FORWARD THE AIR BAG DROPPED AND I HIT MY CHIN AND NECK ON THE STEERING WHEEL BECAUSE THE AIR BAG WAS DOWN. LUCKILY I HAD MY SEAT BELT ON.
NO DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAG DURING COLLISION RESULTING IN INJURIES. (ATTORNEY FOR CLIENT).
