TL* THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER OWNED A 1999 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED, BUT THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE LEFT EYE, LACERATION OF THE NOSE, A BROKEN JAW, THE FRONT TEETH SHIFTED, AND BLACK EYES. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE PASSED AWAY AS A RESULT OF THE CRASH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND AND DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
1999 JEEP CHEROKEE. ATTORNEY WRITES ON BEHALF OF CONSUMER WHO DIED IN A CRASH RELATED TO SEAT BELT AND AIRBAG ISSUES *TGW THE DECEDENT WAS DRIVING ON A CLEAR DAY ON A DRY HIGHWAY, WHEN SHE SUDDENLY HIT A MEDIAN AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED SEVERAL TIMES. ACCORDING TO THE ATTENDING PHYSICIAN, THE DECEDENT WAS TOO SMALL TO BE PROTECTED BY THE SEAT BELT AND SHOULDER HARNESS AND/OR THE AIR BAGS. THE DRIVER DIED FROM INTERNAL INJURIES CAUSED BY THE SEAT BELT /AIR BAG NOT BEING PROPERLY DESIGNED TO PROTECT SOMEONE THAT SMALL. *JB
I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND A FORD SEDAN REAR ENDED ME AND THE CAR IMMEDIATELY WENT UP IN FLAMES. THERE WERE SEVERAL EXPLOSIONS AND THE CAR WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS BY THE UNSURANCE COMPANY. I WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL WITH NECK AND UPPER BACK PAIN . X-RAYS WERE TAKEN AND I WAS DISCHARGED WITH CERVICAL STRAIN. I WAS REFERRED BY MY DOCTOR TO A CRISIS COUNSELOR WHOM I AM STILL ATTENDING. I HAVE NOT SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT SINCE THE INCIDENT.*AK
CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT IN WHICH THE VEHICLE FLIPPED OVER, AND THE PASSENGER'S SIDE REAR OCCUPANT WAS EJECTED OUT THE VEHICLE DUE TO SEAT BELT FAILURE, KILLING THE OCCUPANT OF THE SEAT. INSURANCE COMPANY STILL LOOKING INTO THE MATTER. UNSURE IF THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A CEMENT WALL. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP. *AK *SC *JB
WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE DRIVER PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND GOT OUT. AFTER GETTING OUT, THE VEHICLE HAD GONE INTO REVERSE, STRUCK THE DRIVER AND CRASHED INTO A NEIGHBOR'S GARAGE. THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WITHOUT TEARING APART THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. *AK THERE WERE RECALLS FOR THE 1993-1998 MODELS. *SCC *JB
AIR BAG SENSOR RELOCATED AFTER RECALL TO TOP OF TRANSMISSION HOUSING. AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AFTER A 40 MPH FRONTAL CRASH. RECALL ALSO CHANGED POSITION OF WIRE HARNESS CAUSING SHORT CIRCUIT. THAT RESULTED IN FAILURE OF 4 PCM 'S AND STALLING OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. *LA
THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION, AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY, THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUFFERED INJURIES.*JB
CONSUMER STARTED VEHICLE, THEN HAD TO GET OUT OF VEHICLE, LEFT IT IN PARK WITH ENGINE RUNNING, AS HE STEPPED OUT OF VEHICLE, IT STARTED GOING BACKWARD. HE WAS TRAPPED BETWEEN GARAGE WALL AND DRIVER DOOR. HE MANAGED TO GET IN TO VEHICLE AND SHUT OFF ENGINE. CONSUMER SUFFERED BRUISES. DAMAGE UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME, VEHICLE STILL AT DEALERSHIP.*AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE 45 TO 50 MPH ON A CLEAR DAY HAD AN ACCIDENT, AND AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. ALSO, CONSUMER STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE ON PASSENGER'S SIDE . VEHICLE HAD FRONTAL IMPACT.
THE CHEROKEE WAS IDLING IN PARK WHEN IT LURCHED INTO REVERSE WITHOUT WARNING AND RAN OVER THE DRIVER WHO WAS OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE THEN TRAVELED DOWN THE ROAD COMING TO A STOP IN THE DITCH.*AK
WHILE PARKED, THE VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR, ROLLING DOWN AN INCLINE AND TRAVELING ABOUT 500 FEET BEFORE HITTING A MAILBOX AND COMING OT REST ON A NEIGHBORS FRONT LAWN. *AK
WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AT A GAS STATION CAR JUMPED OUT OF PARK AND INTO REVERSE, CRUSHING CONSUMER'S LEG. CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO WORK FOR MONTHS. DEALER HAS YET TO BE CONTATCED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN SHOP FOR ROUGH IDLE, PULLS TO THE RIGHT, REPLACED PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOW MOTOR, REPLACED DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW MOTOR, FRONT ROTORS REPLACED AT 9300 MILES, TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKS, VEHICLE RIDES LIKE A CHEVETTE OVER BUMPS AND MAKES CREAKING NOISES IN FRONT END, SOUNDS LIKE TIRES WILL FALL OFF WHEN ON ROUGH ROAD, DEALER SAYS EVERYTHING IS FINE, BUT IT IS NOT. HAS THE WORST RIDE THAN ANY OTHER CAR I HAVE EVER HAD. VEHICLE MAKES HORRIBLE KLUNKING NOISE WHEN SHIFTED FROM PARK TO REVERSE. SOUNDS LIKE TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO FALL ON GROUND. VEHICLE JUMPS INTO GEARS. ON 7/30/99, I HAD STARTED THE VEHICLE AND WAS STANDING BEHIND VEHICLE WHEN IT JUMPED OUT OF PARK TO REVERSE AND PROCEEDED TO THROW ME UNDER THE VEHICLE AND THEN ROLLED OVER MY LEGS.
CAR WAS TOTALLED AND NEITHER THE DRIVER NOR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WORKED.
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40-45 MPH MADE A PANIC STOP,BUT COULD NOT STOP FAST ENOUGH, AND ENDED UP HITTING A VEHICLE WITH FULL FORCE. UPON IMPACT, DUAL AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, CAUSING INJUIRES. DEALER CLAIMED AIRBAGS WERE NOT DEFECTIVE. *AK
I WAS TRAVELING 65MPH, AND FEEL ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL. I WOKE UP IN THE DITCH AND TRIED TO GET BACK ON THE ROAD BECAUSE AN APPROACH WAS COMING. I WAS ALMOST ABLE TO DO THAT, BUT THEN THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL. IT ROLLED TWO AND A HALF TIMES. *AK
CONSUMER'S DAUGHTER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 45 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS DISABLED ON THE RIGHT HAND LANE, CONSUMER DIDN'T SEE THE VEHICLE AND HIT IT. CONSUMER'S KNEES BUCKLED AND FACE HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. ALSO, CONSUMER'S TEETH MARKS WERE INSIDE THE STEERING COLUMN. UPON IMPACT, FRONTAL PASSENGER'S AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. *AK
THE MAIN BELT IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT BROKE TWICE, CAUSING VEHICLE TO STALL UNEXPECTEDLY, AND RESULTING IN A CRASH. DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. ALSO PROBLEMS WITH THE WINDOWS. *AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLED IN SUDDEN ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVINGON HWY AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH. AS SOON AS DRIVER LIFTED FOOT OFF BRAKE PEDAL, VEHICLE SUDDENLY TOOK OFF OUT OF CONTROL, HIT A PARKED VEHICLE BEFORE STOPPING. UPON IMPACT, BOTH AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. DEALER NOTIFIED. CAN NHTSA HELP IN THIS MATTER. *AK
