UPON IMPACT, DURING FRONT CRASH AT APPROX. 35MPH, 12:00 ON FRONT BUMPER SHOULDER/LAP BELT FAILED TO RETRACT, RESULT DRIVER HIT STEERING COLUMN AND WINDSHIELD. LOSS OF UNBORN CHILD. TT WHEN VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED THE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT RETRAC. *YH
EXPERIENCE INTERMITTENT BRAKE FAILURE, UPON APPLICATION OF BRAKE, THEY GRAB THEN RELEASE, RESULT ALLOWED TO REAR END ANOTHER VEHICLE AND DRIVER MISCARRIED CHILD. TT THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO HOLD THE DRIVER IN PLACE DURING THE ACCIDENT. *YH
ABS BRAKES FAILED NUMEROUS TIMES, ONCE RESULTING IN A COLLISION AND FIRE.
DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE SEATBELT FAILURE. *LA
ABS BRAKES FAILED TO STOP VEHICLE. SENSE OF NOT STOPPING. PEDAL WENT THROUGH MUCH MORE TRAVEL THAN NORMAL; TO FLOOR OR ALMOST TO FLOOR, WITHOUT ANY SUBSTANTIAL VEHICLE SLOWING.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKES, PEDAL FELT HARD AND WENT TO FLOOR, BUT NO BRAKING ACTION. CONSUMER HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE, CONSUMER WAS INJURED, AND VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED. *AK
TRAVELING AT 30MPH THEN HAVING TO MAKE A SUDDEN STOP DUE TO TRAFFIC CONDITIONS, THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED WITH FULL FORCE. A VERY LOUD GROWLING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP, NOR DID IT APPEAR TO SLOW DOWN. THE RESULT WAS COLLISION DESTROYING THE VEHICLE THAT WAS REAR-ENDED.
AFTER INVESTIGATING THIS DEFECT I AM APPALLED THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AS I NORMALLY DO WHEN APPROACHING A RED LIGHT. THE CAR BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WERE NO BRAKES. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER (THEY DID A TEST AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH THEM, THE VEHICLE NOT STOPPING UNTIL 30-35 FEET AFTER THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED) THAT THE ABS SYSTEM IS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY ACCORDING TO GM. UNBELIEVABLE! *AK
IN DRY ROAD CONDITIONS ON I-5 NORTHBOUND WE NOTICED THAT TRAFFIC WAS STOPPING AHEAD OF US AND APPLIED BRAKES. WE HAD ALREADY SLOWED TO APPROX 50MPH BEFORE BRAKING . THE VEHICLE NOSE DIPPED AS WE SLOWED TO STOP, THEN THE ANTI LOCK MECH RELEASED THE BASE BRAKES AND WE WERE THROWN UPRIGHT AS WE CONTINUED FORWARD INTO THE CAR AHEAD OF US AFTER A CONSIDERABLE DISTANCE DURING WHICH TIME WE WERE AWARE THAT WE WERE NOT BEING SLOWED BY THE ANTI- LOCK SYSTEM. WE HAD NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES HAD AN UNUSUAL STOPPING DISTANCE IN THE PAST, BUT BELIEVED THAT THIS WAS NORMAL AS WE WERE TOLD BY OUR DEALER. THE BRAKES HAD RECENTLY BEEN SERVICED IN DECEMBER. THERE IS NO QUESTION THAT WE SHOULD HAVE HAD AMPLE DISTANCE FOR ANY PROPERLY WORKING BRAKE SYSTEM TO STOP US IN TIME. *AK
MY WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON 6-16-99. SHE WAS GOING APROX. 30 MPH. THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HER WAS APPROX. 20 FT IN FRONT OF HER. SHE FELT THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT BEGIN TO SLOW IN TIME. OUR VEHICLE (SUBURBAN) SUSTAINED $8,000+ IN DAMAGES THE SECOND VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. A THIRD VEHICLE SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE TO REAR BUMPER AND WAS DRIVEN FROM SCENE. WE FEEL THAT ABS FAILURE COULD BE CONTRIBUTING FACTOR BUT DON'T HAVE MECHANICAL CONFIRMATION.

ABS ENGAGED DURING MODERATE BRAKING, CAUSING VEHICLE TO GO INTO A "COAST" SITUATION RESULTING IN A REAR-END COLLISION WITH VEHICLE AHEAD. WITNESS 1 VERIFIED BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON, BUT VEHICLE WAS NOT STOPPING. WITNESS 2 VERIFIED HEARING ABS ENGAGE, BUT ALSO STATED VEHICLE WAS NOT STOPPING. PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES PREVIOUSLY (NOT RESULTING IN ACCIDENTS), BUT DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO LOCATE A PROBLEM. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER AFTER ACCIDENT, AT INSURANCE COMPANY REQUEST, BUT AGAIN, NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND. HAVE ASKED FOR GMC SERVICE REP. TO INSPECT VEHICLE. DEALER COMMITTED TO CONTACT FACTORY REP. AND HAS STATED FACTORY REP. WILL CONTACT US THIS WEEK TO DRIVE VEHICLE FOR EXTENDED PERIOD. CURRENTLY WAITING TO HEAR FROM FACTORY REP., BUT DEALER DOES NOT EXPECT HIM TO FIND ANY PROBLEM. IT IS OUR OPINION THAT VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO OPERATE DUE TO THE RANDOMNESS OF APPLYING BRAKES AND HAVING VEHICLE GO INTO "COAST" MODE. DUE TO NUMBER OF TIMES THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN RETURNED TO DEALER FOR THIS PROBLEM AND THE FACT THAT IT FINALLY RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH INJURIES, WE FEEL THAT GMC SHOULD TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY. FIRST, NECESSARY REPAIRS SHOULD BE MADE TO MAKE THE VEHICLE SAFE. SECOND, GMC HAS A FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY TO COMPENSATE FOR DAMAGES CAUSED BY THE MALFUNCTION OF THE FACTORY EQUIPMENT. RESEARCH INTO THIS SITUATION HAS FOUND INFORMATION INDICATING GMC IS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT.
MY WIFE PLACED K2500 SUBURBAN IN PARK IN GARAGE. REMOVED 9 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER FROM CAR SEAT, OPENED FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR AND STEPPED FROM TRUCK. THE TRUCK SUDDENLY MADE A LOUD NOISE AND BEGAN BACKING OUT OF LEVEL GARAGE, DRAGGING THEM TO DRIVEWAY. THEY GOT CLEAR OF TRUCK AND IT WENT DOWN STEEP DRIVEWAY ACROSS ALLEY AND UP NIEGHBOR'S STEEP DRIVEWAY THROUGH BRICK TRASH STRUCTURE AND INTO NEIGHBORS HOUSE. AT TIME OF RECOVERY ENGINE WAS RUNNING WITH EMERGENCY BRAKE APPROXIMATELY 1/3 OF THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. IT IS UNCLEAR WHETHER IT JUMPED FROM PARK TO REVERSE OR WAS NEVER FULLY IN PARK TO BEGIN WITH, HOWEVER THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT TIME BETWEEN VEHICLE BEING PLACED IN PARK AND BEGINNING OR ROLL BACKWARDS. IN ADDITION, AT TIME IT BEGAN TO ROLL, NO ONE WAS IN THE TRUCK AS MY WIFE WAS STANDING NEXT TO IT, AND WAS CAUGHT BY THE OPEN DRIVER'S DOOR. HER RIGHT LEG WAS CAUGHT BY DRIVER'S FRONT TIRE AFTER BEING KNOCKED TO THE GROUND. *AK
THREE CARS IN FRONT STOPPED SUDDENLY, I APPLIED BRAKES WITH FULL PRESURE FROM MY FOOT (I DID NOT RELEASE PRESURE AT ANY TIME), MY SUBURBAN DID NOT SLOW DOWN AND ENDED UP IN A DITCH WITH EXTENCIVE FRONT END DAMAGE. THE ROADWAY WAS WET AND THE SPEED WAS 35 MPH. DRIVER WAS ONLY OCCUPANT AND WAS WEARING A SEATBELT, MINOR NECK INJURY.
WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH APPLYING THE BRAKES, THEY FAILED AND VEHICLE SKIDDED ABOUT A BLOCK AND COLLIDED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. *AK
ABS BRAKES; WHEN APPLYING BRAKES IN NORMAL CONDITIONS, BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE, CAUSING AN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE, RESULTING IN A COLLISION/INJURIES. *AK

POOR ABS BRAKE PERFORMANCE, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED, RESULTING IN A TWO-VEHICLE COLLISION, DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES. *AK CONSUMER STATES BRAKES WERE CHECKED BY STATE TROOPER AND IT WAS DISCOVERD THAT BRAKES HAD MINIMAL RESISTANCE AND WENT TO FLOOR BOARD *JB
THE DRIVERS SEATBACK BROKE AND ALLOWED DRIVER TO SLIDE THROUGH THE SEATBELT, CAUSING INJURY DURING THE ACCIDENT. *AK
