WHILE DRIVING DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BACK DECLINED BACKWARDS. WHEN THIS OCCURRED CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO SEE, AND VEHICLE SERVED OFF THE ROAD INTO A DITCH. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE IN 4-WHEEL DRIVE OUT OF THE DITCH, AND DRIVE THE HOME. CONSUMER BACK, LOWER NECK AREA, AND CHEST WERE SORE. CURRENTLY VEHICLE PARKED IN CONSUMER'S DRIVEWAY. *AK

WHILE TRAVELING 75MPH RIGHT REAR TIRE BLEWOUT. VEHICLE VIBRATED. PULLED TO SIDE., AND CHECKED TIRES. NOTICED TREAD HAD PEELED OFF. PUT SPARE ON. BROUGHT ANOTHER TIRE TO REPLACE SPARE. 2ND TIRE LEFT REAR BLEWOUT, SAME THING HAD HAPPENED. THEN, 3RD TIRE, RIGHT FRONT, SAME PROBLEM. THREW AWAY FIRST TIRE. KEPT OTHER TWO TIRES THAT BLEW OUT SAME DAY. VEHICLE WENT OFF ROAD TO THE LEFT & THEN BACK TO THE RIGHT. DRIVER SUFFERED BACK INJURIES DUE TO TREAD SEPARATION OF THIRD TIRE. CONSUMER STATES THAT WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED THE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO COLLIDE INTO ANOTHER. THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER A FEW DAYS PRIOR TO THE COLLISION. THE DEALER INFORMED THE OWNER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN NORMAL OPERATION. OWNER HAS HAD BRAKE LINES/CALIPERS/ROTORS AND PADS PUT ON THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO COLLISION. *AK

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1996 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. BOTH VEHICLES WERE DAMAGED, BUT THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE ABS SENSORS WERE CORRODED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO DISABLE THE ABS. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS PRESENT. THE CONTACT DOES NOT PLAN TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 190,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 191,700. MY COMPLAINT STEMS FROM AN INCIDENT WITH THE FIRESTONE STEELTEX AT TIRE WHICH LOST IT'S TREAD AND NEARLY KILLED MY FAMILY. REFER TO MY COMPLAINT WHICH I CLASSIFIED UNDER FIRESTONE, LT245/75R16 (JUNE 28TH, 2003). FROM WHAT I HAVE LEARNED SO FAR...FIRESTONE IS BEING TOTALY UNETHICAL REGARDING THEIR RESPONSE TO ALL THESE FAILURES. I ALSO FEEL THAT THIS ORGANIZATION, NHTSA IS NOT REPRESENTING THE TAX PAYERS IN THAT IT IS OBVIOUS FROM ALL THESE REPORTS FILED THAT SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THESE TIRES. WHY DON'T YOU PUT ALL FIRESTONE, STEELTEX, TIRE COMPLAINTS UNDER ONE CATAGORY? YOU ARE WATERING DOWN THE SEVERITY OF THIS BY HAVING 10-15-20 OR MORE DIFFERENT CLASSIFICATIONS WHERE PEOPLE SUCH AS MYSELF LODGE COMPLAINTS. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE TIRES....MORE PEOPLE WILL LOSE THEIR LIVES UNLESS SOMETHING IS DONE. AK
