THE AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOYED AM VEER DISAPPOINTED MY SON WAS INJURED. *TR
DT: THE CONSUMER STATES 1997 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN HAS BRAKE PROBLEMS. THIS RESULTED IN A CRASH, AND THERE WERE ONLY MINOR INJURIES. THE BRAKES JUST STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS. BEFORE THE CONSUMER COULD GET A CHANCE TO HAVE THE BRAKES CHECKED, HAD AN ACCIDENT. THE BRAKES WERE CHECKED AND FIXED AFTER THE ACCIDENT, AND THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD THE CONSUMER THAT THIS WAS VERY COMMON WITH CORROSION BUILD UP. THE CONSUMER HAD TO PAY $1300.00 TO FIX THE BRAKING SYSTEM. PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT THE BRAKES WERE LOSING POWER, AND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO STOP. THIS WAS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED GM ABOUT THE PROBLEM WITH AN E-MAIL, WITH NO RESPONSE. THE CONSUMER LIVES IN A SALT-BELT STATE. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS A CORROSION BUILD UP ON THE ABS SENSOR. A POLICE REPORT AND AN INSURANCE REPORT WERE TAKEN. THE SPEED WAS AROUND 20 MPH.*AK UPDATED 1/4/2006 - *NM
WHILE DRIVING AT 25-30 MPH CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER FRONTAL AIR BAG DEPLOYED. DRIVER SUSTAINED HEAD INJURIES, AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO LOCAL HOSPITAL. MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED.
FIRST TIME APPLIED BRAKES AT INTERSECTION, EXTENTED STOPPING. BRAKES CHECKED OK, REPLACED BRAKES ANYWAY. SIX MO. LATTER, SECOND TIME, DRIVING 25 MPH. DRY, CLEAN PAVED ROAD. APPLIED BRAKES, ANTI-LOCK COMES ON, BRAKES FAILED, CAUSED ACCIDENT. TRAVELED AT LEAST 2 AN A HALF CAR LENGTH BEFORE INPACT. SUBURBAN CHECKED, ONLY THING FOUND WAS BRAKE OIL READ AT 190 DEGREES, AFTER DRIVING 1 MILE. *AK
WHILE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND WITHOUT ANY INDICATION IT ACCELERATED AND REAR-ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. *AK *MR
WHILE DRIVING AT 60/70 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER STEERING, WHICH CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. *JB
THE POWER STEERING FAILED, WHICH CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE CONSUMER WAS INJURED. *JB
I HAD BRAKE TROUBLE ON THIS CAR FROM DAY ONE. MANY BRAKE PADS, TWO MASTER CYLINDERS, MANY SHOES AND DRUMS. THIS VEHICLE IS DEFECTIVE BECAUSE IT WEIGHT IS TOO GREAT FOR THE BRAKING SYSTEM. I WOULD LIKE SOME HELP. PLEASE CALL. MY ACCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY BRAKE FAILURE. DEALERSHIP WHERE I LIVE IN KINGS MTN, NOW DIAMOND CHEVROLET ADMITS. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER IN SHELBY, NC CARTER CHEVROLET EIGHT TIMES IN ONE YEAR FOR BRAKE PROBLEMS.
REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED FROM TIRE BELTS CAUSING ENTIRE TREAD TO PEEL FROM CASING RESULTING IN SERIOUS ROLL OVER ACCIDENT.( DOT NUMBER: 0500 TIRE SIZE: LT24575R16 )
CONSUMER'S WIFE WAS IN A FRONT END COLLISION AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. WAS TOLD BY MANUFACTURER THAT THE INJURIES THAT CONSUMER'S WIFE SUSTAINED WERE NOT ENOUGH TO WARRANT AN INVESTIGATION. *AK
HAD TO APPLY BRAKES AFTER GOING 50-55MPH ON ICE. VEHICLE HIT GUARDRAIL HEAD ON & SPUN AROUND & REAR HIT GUARDRAIL. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. DRIVER'S SEAT BELT DID NOT RESTRAIN. VEHICLE'S FRONT PUSHED BACK INTO TIRES. VEHICLE TOWED. *AK
VEHICLE IN FRONT STOPPED SUDDENLY NECESSITATING BRAKING. HOWEVER, ABS BRAKES FAILED; ENGINE STALLED, RESULTING IN A CRASH/INJURY. *AK
DRIVING ALONG AND STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, LIGHT CHANGED AND VEHICLE PROCEEDED APPROXIMATELY 5MPH. VEHICLE AHEAD STOPPED, TRIED TO STOP, APPLIED BRAKES, ALMOST TO THE POINT OF STANDING AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1997 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. HE CRASHED THE VEHICLE INTO A WALL. THE DRIVER SIDE REAR B.F. GOODRICH TIRE TREAD SEPARATED AND CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE DRY. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE CONTACT STILL HAS THE TIRE AND THE TREAD. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND THE VEHICLE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 132,000.
DT: THE CONTACT STATES THERE IS NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN 05V379000 CONCERNING THE ANTI- LOCK BRAKES. THIS VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL, BUT IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. THE CONTACT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE AT HIS OWN EXPENSE. *AK THE CONSUMER STATED DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE PART, HE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPDATED 11/29/05. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, FRONT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, AND THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIR BAGS. *AK
THESE TRUCKS WITH THIS STEERING PROBLEM ARE VERY DANGEROUS FOR DRIVERS, PASSENGERS & OTHER MOTORISTS AROUND THESE VEHICLES.IF NO ONE HAS BEEN KILLED YET BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT GM SHOULD DO SOMETHING BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.
WHILE DRIVING BRAKES OVERHEATED, CAUSING CONSUMER TO CRASH. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND DEALER SAID THAT BRAKES OVERHEATED. MECHANIC SAID THAT IN STOP AND GO SITUATIONS BRAKES WILL OVERHEAT. CONSUMER STATED THAT THIS WAS VERY SCARY, AND WAS CONCERNED THAT COULD NOT STOP A VEHICLE. *AK
WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 35MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE REARENDED A CONVERSION VAN. UPON IMPACT WITH THE VAN, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. SEAT BELTS WERE IN USE. THE CONVERSION VAN WAS STATIONARY. WILL BE TAKING VEHICLE TO DEALER. *AK
LOSS OF ABS BRAKES , RESULTING IN A REAREND COLLISION. BRAKES WENT FLOOR,ABS LIGHT HAD COME ON AFTER INCIDENT. DEALER HAS REPLACED BRAKE SOES AND PADS. *AK
