TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A PEDESTRIAN THAT WALKED IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE PEDESTRIAN SUFFERED FROM FATAL INJURIES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS ALSO FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
The contact owned a 2007 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, and merging into the slow lane, he crashed into a vehicle that stopped abruptly. Additionally, the vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle. The driver air bag exploded. The contact was able to exit the vehicle without assistance. The contact was transported to the hospital with the assistance of Uber. The contact was informed that he had sustained a broken sternum and bruised ribs. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the residence, where it was totaled. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The contact received a recall notice of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V158000 (Air Bags), that he related to the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
This vehicle was totaled in May 2020. I had numerous and constant brake issues with this car and had much of the brake system (brake pads, rotors, and calipers I believe) replaced within a year of the accident. The accident occurred when I tried to apply the brakes, causing me to hydroplane into an oncoming car. My concern is that this could be related to the ABS recall (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 19V904000). Although my vehicle does not appear to be affected by the recall, it seems very similar to the brake issues I experienced.

The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that she would need to pay a diagnostic test fee. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving. The contact stated while driving in the rain and in the process of changing lanes, the vehicle in front of her stopped at the traffic light. The contact then depressed the brake pedal. However, the vehicle hydroplaned, accelerated, and crashed into the rear of the vehicle in front of her. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained severe headaches, neck pain, and knee pain and sought medical assistance. The contact’s friend who was pregnant and occupying the front passenger’s seat sustained back pain. The driver of the other vehicle sustained injuries and sought medical assistance. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot where it was totaled. The dealer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The failure mileage was unknown.
MY 2007 FORD FUSION WAS ON RECALL NOTICE FOR A YEAR OR SO BUT NO LOCAL DEALERSHIPS HAD THE NEW REPLACEMENT PARTS AND THEN I GOT RAN OFF THE INTERSTATE AND HIT A TREE AT AROUND 60MPH AND THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND SHRAPNEL WENT EVERYWHERE AND CUT MY FACE AND NECK UP GOOD. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V001000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL REMEDY WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING OPERATED, THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS UNINTENTIONALLY DEPLOYED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE SEAT BELT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS NOT OPERABLE AFTER THE CRASH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED A CRASH REPORT NUMBER. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED CHEMICAL BURNS ON THE RIGHT HAND AND LEFT FOREARM. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED UNKNOWN INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PEACOCK FORD, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY HAD NO RECORD OF THE CONTACT REACHING OUT TO THEM. DRIVING TO PHOENIX FROM TUCSON ON I-10 AT APPROXIMATELY 65MPH, TRAFFIC AHEAD CAME TO A STOP. THERE WAS A LOT OF DISTANCE BETWEEN THE CAR AHEAD AND OURSELVES, BUT WHEN WE HIT THE BRAKES ABRUPTLY, THE BRAKES APPLIED THEN FAILED WITH PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR. RELEASED THE PEDAL AND REAPPLIED AGAIN AND THE BRAKES AGAIN STARTED TO SLOW THE CAR THEN AGAIN FAILED AND RELEASED. WE HAD NO PATH TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO AVOID IMPACT BECAUSE OTHER VEHICLES HAD PULLED TO THE SIDE, OR WERE IN THE OTHER LANE. WE IMPACTED THE VEHICLE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC AHEAD OF US WITH MINIMAL BRAKES. THE AZ DPS AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY WERE INFORMED OF THE FAILURE OF BRAKES, BUT A TICKET WAS STILL ISSUED. TO MY KNOWLEDGE THE VEHICLE BRAKES OR COMPUTER HAS YET TO BE CHECKED AS THE FUSION WAS CONSIDERED A TOTAL LOSS; THIS VEHICLE HAD ONLY 65,000 MILES ON IT, AND IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THERE WERE THREE OF US IN THE FUSION AND THE AIRBAGS WORKED FLAWLESSLY, WE ALL WALKED AWAY. ALL OCCUPANTS OF THE OTHER VEHICLES WERE WELL AND WALKING AROUND FOR TWO HOURS UNTIL ONE WAS TALKED INTO AN AMBULANCE RIDE BY A PARAMEDIC TECH.
TAKATA I WAS IN A ACCIDENT IN JULY OF 2018 MY AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY AND I AND TWO OTHER PEOPLE WE'RE HURT. WE ALL WE'RE TAKING TO THE HOSPITAL, I SUFFERED FROM MUSCLE STRAIN AND CERVICAL SPRAIN. I WORK IN PRODUCTION AND THE PILLS NOR THE SHOOTS HELPED. I WAS IN A LOT OF PAIN WHEN I RETURN TO THE JOB. I ENDED UP QUITING BECAUSE OF THE PAIN. I CHANGED MY JOB AND SINCE I STILL HAVE DIFFICULTY'S WHEN IT'S SWOLLEN WITH SHARP PAIN. I'M VERY SCARY TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE SINCE THE ACCIDENT..
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP MY 2007 FORD FUSION THE BRAKES WOULD LOSE FUNCTIONALITY IN VARYING DEGREES. SOMETIMES THE PEDAL WOULD GET SOFT BUT I WOULD BE ABLE TO STOP THE CAR BY PRESSING HARDER AND OTHER-TIMES THE BRAKES WOULD FAIL TO WORK ALL TOGETHER. WHEN THE BRAKES WOULD FAIL THEY WOULD REGAIN FUNCTIONALLY AFTER ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES. WHEN I INSPECTED THE BRAKE SYSTEM THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF LEAKING BRAKE FLUID OR BREAK/ROTOR WEAR. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE SHOP THE MECHANIC ASSURED ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY ABS BRAKING SYSTEM. THE FAULTY BRAKES IN MY FORD FUSION EVENTUALLY FAILED COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH ON HIGHWAY I-195 WHEN TRAFFIC CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP. I SUFFERED A LIFE CHANGING CONCUSSION IN THE RESULTING ACCIDENT AS WELL AS LOSING MY CAR AND JOB. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS A FAULTY MASTER CYLINDER AS NO BRAKE FLUID IS LOST FROM THE SYSTEM. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS ISSUE THERE ARE STILL 2007 FORD FUSIONS ON THE ROAD TODAY THAT WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE MORE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS.

I WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED. I WAS DRIVING AND TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED AND I ATTEMPTED TO STOP, HOWEVER WHEN I APPLIED PRESSURE AND THEN FELT MY PEDAL DROP AND GET SPONGY, I THEN HAD TO APPLY MUCH MORE PRESSURE BUT IT WASN'T ENOUGH. WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH STOPPING DISTANCE ALMOST DOUBLED. I ATTEMPTED TO AVOID A DIRECT REAR END COLLISION AND MANAGED TO VEER OFF TO THE RIGHT AND ONLY HIT THE OTHER CAR ON THE RIGHT REAR SIDE BUMPER. I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENT REPORTS WHERE I HAVE REAR ENDED A PERSON AND IN THIS CASE I COULD FEEL THE BREAK PEDAL DROP UNDER ME. I FILED THE ACCIDENT REPORT WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY. AS P1 PROCEEDED TO MERGE INTO THE NUMBER 2 LANE TRAFFIC WAS SLOWING DOWN AND I WAS ENTERING THE LANE AT 25 MILES PER HOUR. STILL TRAVELING WEST BOUND IN THE NUMBER 2 LANE JUST NORTH OF THE 59TH STREET OVERPASS, P2 WHO IS NOW DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF P1 SLAMS HIS BREAKS AND BEGINS TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. P1 WAS DRIVING ABOUT 25 FEET BEHIND P2 AT 25 MPH AND ALSO APPLIED THE FULL FORCE TO THE BREAKS. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES I FELT A SPONGY FEELING ON MY BRAKE PEDAL, AND IT DIDN'T BEHAVE THE SAME AND I HAD TO REAPPLY MUCH MORE FORCE AT WHICH TIME IT WAS TOO LATE. I COLLIDED WITH THE OTHER VEHICLE AT ABOUT 10 MPH "
TAKATA RECALL. A HEAD ON COLLISION AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH ON RURAL ROAD. FUSION MOVING OTHER CAR PARKED ON WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD HIGH BEAMS LIGHTS ON IN A CURVE COULD NOT TELL WHERE THE CAR WAS. AIRBAG DEPLOYED, HUSBAND HIT FOREHEAD ON WINDSHIELD HARD ENOUGH FOR GLASSES TO BE JAMMED INTO THE DASH.
LOW SPEED FENDER BENDER WITH NO EXTERIOR DAMAGE CAUSED AIR BAGS TO DEFLATE. BROKE PASSENGERS ARM, BROKE THE WINDSHIELD, INJURED DRIVERS ARM (MINOR), DAMAGE TO VEHICLE DUE TO AIRBAGS TOTALED THE VEHICLE. SOMEONE STOPPED ON A HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS OF 55 MILES AN HOUR AND DRIVER AS WELL AS DRIVER IN VEHICLE IN FRONT OF THEM SLAMMED ON BREAKS. THEY SLOWED DOWN SO SLOW THAT THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO EITHER VEHICLE EXCEPT FOR ERUPTION OF AIRBAGS WHICH CAUSED SEVERE DAMAGE ALL AROUND.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN GARNERS FERRY IN COLUMBIA, SC ON A RAINY DAY IN JUNE, TOWARDS WHERE IT TURNS INTO DEVINE ST., AND AS I PASSED THE TARGET (SHOPPES AT WOODHILL, 6090 GARNERS FERRY RD, COLUMBIA, SC 29209) I STARTED ATTEMPTING TO SLOW DOWN BECAUSE THE ROAD IS DOWNHILL. AS I STARTED TO PRESS THE BRAKES THE CAR DIDN'T SEEM TO BE SLOWING. I TOOK A SECOND TO GLANCE DOWN AND MAKE SURE I WAS PRESSING THE BRAKE. I WAS SO I PANICKED AND STARTED STOMPING THE BRAKE. I FELT THE CAR SHAKING AND VIBRATING THE STEERING WHEEL AND IT SOUNDS LIKE THE BRAKES WERE LOCKED BUT I COULDN'T STOP MY CAR BEFORE REAR-ENDING AN SUV AT FULL SPEED IN MY FORD FUSION ON THE GARNERS FERRY/DEVINE ST. AND ROSEWOOD/WILDCAT RD. INTERSECTION. THE FRONT END OF MY CAR WAS DAMAGED TOTALING OVER $1,000.
ON JUNE 29, 2013 I WAS DRIVING ON ROUTE 13 TOWARDS HIGHWAY 71 IN OHIO NEAR BELLVILLE. I BEGAN TO ATTEMPT TO STOP AT THE SECOND STOP LIGHT BEFORE THE HIGHWAY PASSED OVER 13 AND MY BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND. I HEARD ON THE NEWS ABOUT THE INVESTIGATION INTO THE BRAKE FAILURE FOR THESE TYPES OF VEHICLES AND WANTED TO HELP. I WAS SITED FOR THE ACCIDENT, BUT MY BRAKES WERE LESS THAN 6 MONTHS OLD. I NEVER HAD CONTACT WITH THE WOMAN I HIT BECAUSE MY CAR ROLLED THROUGH BOTH INTERSECTIONS, I HAD TO USE THE GRASS MEDIAN TO SLOW THE CAR BEFORE USING THE PARKING BRAKE TO STOP THE CAR COMPLETELY. THE CAR ROLLED ABOUT 1,600 FT BEFORE I COULD STOP IT. I CAN PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION WITH TIME AS I NOW LIVE IN TEXAS.
