TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 55 MPH, A DEER RAN IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO AVOID THE DEER AND SWERVED HIS VEHICLE TO THE RIGHT. HE SIDESWIPED TREES ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND SLIGHTLY OFF CENTER ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE VEHICLE STOPPED WHEN IT CRASHED HEAD-ON INTO A TREE. THE RADIATOR WAS FORCED INTO THE ENGINE AND THE ENGINE WAS PUSHED INTO THE VEHICLE, WHICH CAUSED THE CONTACT TO SUSTAIN MAJOR INJURIES TO HIS LOWER BODY, INCLUDING A BROKEN KNEE CAP. SMOKE EXPELLED FROM THE ENGINE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 117,000.
TRUCK PARK IN GEAR ON FLAT SPOT TRUCK ROLLED 50 FT DOWN HILL AND HIT TREE DEAD CENTER OF TRUCK. TRUCK WAS IN PARK 4+4WAS IN TWO WHEEL DRIVE BUT DIAMLER CHESLER IS GOING TO LOOK AT IT BUT I KNOW TEY GOING TO SAY ITS MY FAULT BUT I DID NOTHING WRONG BUT PARK AND WALK AWAY.*AK
VEHICLE ACCELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS BACKED OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND PLACED INTO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE RACED AND THE ACCELERATOR SUDDENLY TOOK OFF WHEN TOUCHED TAKING THE VEHICLE AND DRIVER 10 FEET INTO A BRICK WALL. THE VEHICLE WAS UNCONTROLLABLE AND WE SUSPECT A DEFECT IN THE ACCELERATOR, ENGINE'S FUEL INJECTION AND COMPUTER. THIS ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE BEEN A FATALITY WITHOUT THE USE OF SAFETY BELTS AND AIR BAGS! PLEASE HELP ME MAKE SURE THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO OTHERS!
HELLO MY NAME IS [XXX] I BROUGHT THIS SUV 12/3/2019 .THE GUY I BOUGHT THIS SUV FROM HE TOLD ME THERE'S AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE BATTERY TO THE TRANSMISSION I FOUND THERE WAS SEVERAL THINGS WRONG WITH IT THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOOSE. NEED A TUNE-UP OH WHEN I GOT HOME THE CAR STARTS SMOKING INSIDE THEN THE OUTSIDE THAT'S HOW IT CAUGHT ON FIRE UNDERNEATH TO THE FIREWALL I THINK NOT SURE PLEASE HELP INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
EARLY GENERATION DODGE DURANGO (98-01) HAS ABS PROBLEMS, CAUSING ABS TO SHUT DOWN, LEAVING THE BRAKE PEDAL VERY LOW. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER RECALLED ON THIS. FIX TO PROBLEM SEEMS TO ONLY BE A COMPLETE BRAKE SYSTEM REBUILD, WITH AFTERMARKET PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND NOT HAVE IT RETURN AGAIN. I HAVE HEARD THAT SOME PEOPLE HAVE LOST THEIR LIVES DUE TO THIS PROBLEM AND I THINK IT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED EVEN THOUGH THESE VEHICLES ARE OLD, THEY ARE NOT SAFE AND NEED TO BE RECALLED FOR THE OWNERS AND EVERYONE SAFETY AROUND THEM. *TR
I WAS DRIVING THROUGH A STOP LIGHT PROB AROUND 15 MPH SPEEDING UP TO 30 WHEN A VAN GOING 30 RAN THE RED LIGHT, STRUCK ME ON THE SIDE OF MY DURANGO, SPUN US AROUND AND WE WERE HIT HEAD ON BY THE VAN WHICH PUSHED US BACK INTO A LIGHT POLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY I HAVE A PERMANANT DENT IN MY HEAD FROM HITTING THE STEERING WHEEL
AFTER REPLACING HUB ASSEMBLY AT LES SCHWAB BRAKES DIDN'T WORK RIGHT WHEN STEPPING DOWN ON BRAKE IT WOULD MAKE A SOUND AS IF THEY WERE NOT CATCHING PULLING CAR FORWARD BRAKING ONLY DEPRESSED HALF WAY AFTER A FEW SECONDS BRAKE WOULD LET GO ALL THE DOWN AND THEN WOULD RETURN TO NORMAL I RETORTED TO LES SCHWAB THEY CHECKED BRAKES AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG THE SAID MAY BE SOMETHING WAS HAPPENING TO SUSPENSION BUT IT SHOULD BE OK TO DRIVE IT WOULD CONTINUE OFF AND ON FOR A FEW WEEKS TWO DAYS AFTER THANKSGIVING RETURNING FROM SHOPPING SUN WAS JUST GOING DOWN WHEN BRAKING FOR A CAR I FRONT MY BRAKES GAVE OUT CAUSING ME TO HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME DEPLOYING AIR BAGS TO BOTH SIDES AS WE WERE PUSHING CAR OUT OF ROAD THERE WAS O SKID MARKS AT ALL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STRUCK A LIGHT POLE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO AVOID CRASHING INTO TWO OTHER VEHICLES. THE DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A LARGE BUMP ON HIS HEAD AND A CUT ON HIS UPPER LIP. THE CONTACT HAS A POLICE REPORT AND THE REPORT OF THE DAMAGE TO HIS VEHICLE. THE VIN, PURCHASE DATE, AND ENGINE SIZE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 167,883 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1676,833. THE CONSUMER STATED HAVE BEEN THROUGH ALOT WITH THIS VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT HE HAS HAD THE ENGINE REPLACED TWICE IN THE CAR AND REBUILT THE TRANSMISSION PRIOR TO THE CAR HAVING 38000 MILES ON IT AND NOW HE HAS A DEFECTIVE AIR BAG. THE CONSUMER STATED WOULD LIKE CHRYSLER TO PAY THE REMAINING BALANCE ON THE CAR. THE CONSUMER PROVIDED PICTURES OF THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 07/10/07 *TR
BECAUSE OF IT'S PROXIMITY TO THE STEERING WHEEL, THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED INADVERTENTLY WHILE MANEUVERING IN ICY CONDITIONS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SPIN WILDLY OUT OF CONTROL RESULTING IN A COLLISION. *JB
WHILE MANEUVERING IN ICY CONDITIONS THE CRUISE CONTROL BECAUSE OF ITS DESIGN ON THE STEERING WHEEL, INADVERTENTLY ENGAGED RESULTING IN A CRASH. IT SEEMS THAT WEARING GLOVES CONTRIBUTES TO THE PROBLEM. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH IN THE RAIN, THE ABS LIGHT ON THE DASH ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY, AND THE VEHICLE SWERVED FROM SIDE TO SIDE. THE VEHICLE ULTIMATELY COLLIDED WITH A CONCRETE BARRIER IN THE CENTER OF THE HIGHWAY, AND STRUCK ONE PERSON, WHO SUFFERED TWO BROKEN LEGS. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE OF THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A JUNKYARD, AND DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS.
THE CONSUMER WAS RUN OVER BY HER OWN VEHICLE WHILE STANDING BEHIND IT. SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE SLIPPED OUT OF PARK AND INTO REVERSE. THIS WAS DUE TO THE INTER-LOCKING BRAKE TRANSMISSION. *JB
STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP, IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. IT SKIDDED AND CRASHED. DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURUES. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED, NO DEFECTS WERE FOUND. *AK
WHILE SITTING AT A INTERSECTION AND WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ANOTHER VEHICLE REAR ENDED CONSUMER'S VEHICLE, CAUSING CONSUMER'S VEHICLE TO HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT, AND CAUSING A SIX CAR CHAIN OF REACTION COLLISION. BOTH FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER'S SIDE SEATS COLLAPSED FORWARD. UPON IMPACT, BOTH FRONT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED NECK AND BACK INJURIES, AND WERE TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. *AK
I WAS DRIVING ON A LOCAL CITY STREETWHEN THE DRIVER IN FRONT OF ME BRAKED HARD BECAUSE THE CAR IN FRONT OF HIM DECIDED TO TURN INTO A DRIVEWAY IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING AN INTERSECTION. I OF COURSE BRAKED HARD AND THE BRAKE PEDAL IN MY 1999 DODGE DURANGO BROKE AND WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, AS IT TURNS OUT THERE IS A PIN THAT GOES THROUGH THE BRAKE PEDAL ARM AND THE HEAD OF IT (THE PART THAT ACTUALLY APPLIES THE THE BRAKES) BROKE OFF. I HIT THE PEOPLE IN FRONT OF ME DAMAGING THEIR TRUNK AND THE FRONT OF MY DURANGO. THERE WAS NOT EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO EITHER VEHICLE, ALTHOUGH IT DID PUNCTURE MY RADIATOR AND ALL OF THE COOLANT RAN OUT. SO AT THIS POINT THE VEHICLE CAN NOT BE DRIVEN. STILL HAVE THE BROKEN PIN AND IT'S OBVIOUS THAT THERE WAS A FLAW IN IT WHERE IT BROKE. *AK
MY DURANGO LOST CONTROL FOR NO REASON ON A SUUNY, CLOUDLESS DAY 4-24-01. I WAS TURNING THE VEHICLE LEFT AND IT SUDDENLY WENT RIGHT THROWING ME INTO A GUARD RAIL AND DOWN A BLUFF, BREAKING MY BACK. AFTER WATCHING CBS NEWS TWO WEEKS AGO, I REALIZED IT WAS SUSPENSION FAILURE COMPLAINED ABOUT BY HUNDREDS OF OTHER OWNERS.*AK
WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY, MY DURANGO SUDDENLY PULLED TO THE LEFT. ALL ATTEMPTS TO STEER OR USE THE BRAKES FAILED AND MY CAR WENT INTO A SPIN AND HIT THE BARRIER WALL OF A BRIDGE TWO TIMES. THE POLICE REPORT STATES THAT THE CAUSE OF CRASH IS THAT THE DRIVER "LOST CONTROL OF HER VEHICLE WHEN THE LEFT REAR TIRE/RIM SEPARATED FROM THE AXLE."*AK
I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK ONE MORNING AND WAS JUST DOWN THE ROAD FROM MY HOME WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, MY STEERING WHEEL JUST STARTED SPINNING AROUND IN MY HANDS, A BOLT ABOUT 3-4 INCHES HAD WORKED IT'S WAY OUT OF THE LINKAGE. I APPLIED MY BRAKES, BUT THE TRUCK WAS COMING DOWN A HILL AND I ENDED UP AT THE BOTTOM OF A 20 FOOT CULVERT. LUCKILY THE VEHICLE DIDN'T ROLL, OR I PROBABLY WOULDN'T BE HERE TODAY. WE HAD WORK DONE ON IT 6 MONTHS AFTER WE LEASED IT (DEC, 1999) AND WERE TOLD THEY HAD TO REMOVE THE STEERING COLUMN TO FIX THE HEATER--AFTER THE ACCIDENT, THEY HAD NO RECOLLECTION OF DOING ANY SUCH WORK AND EVEN TRIED TO TELL ME THAT WE HAD NOT LEASED THE VEHICLE FROM THEM, THEY NEVER HAD THAT VIN# IN THEIR SYSTEM. MY INSURANCE COMPANY INVESTIGATED IT AND TOLD ME THAT OVER TIME, THE VIBRATION MADE THE BOLT FALL OUT OF THE VEHICLE.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN FREEWAY, VEHICLES IN FRONT CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP WENT TO STEP HARD ON BRAKES BUT PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. WE HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF US AND DID A LOT OF DAMAGE. DODGE SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG.
AFTER PULLING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY, VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP. I STEPPED HARD ON THE BRAKES AND 4WAL ABS BRAKES DID NOT WORK. I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 15 OR 20 MPH. THIS IS THE 2ND ACCIDENT IN 6 MONTHS BUT DODGE SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. THIS DID MORE DAMAGE THAN THE 1ST ACCIDENT. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM?
