TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2002 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER BEING IN A CRASH AT 80 MPH, THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY UNTIL AFTER THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THERE WAS ONE INJURY AND TWO FATALITIES AS A RESULT OF THE CRASH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HAD A 2002 DODGE DURANGO. I WAS DRIVING IT ONE DAY WITH MY 2 YOUNG SONS IN IT, AND IT CAUGHT ON FIRE AND NEARLY KILLED US ALL. IT BURNED DOWN TO NOTHING. VEHICLE FIRE SOUTH HILLS VILLAGE SHOPPING MALL, THAT IS WHERE I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. DODGE & CHRYSLER DID ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING FOR ME. I JUST WANT PEOPLE TO BE AWARE OF THIS, BECAUSE IF THERE IS A DEFECT, MY WARRANTY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WHICH WAS SUPPOSE TO COVER BUMPER TO BUMPER FOR 3 YEARS 36,000 MILES AND I ONLY HAD 11,000 MILES ON IT. WHILE TOWING A TRAILER DOWNHILL AT 55 MPH WITH CRUISECONTROL SET, ACCELERATOR PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, CONSUMER HIT CANCEL CRUISE BUTTON 3 TIMES, BUT VEHICLE INCREASED SPEED, RPMS WENT TO 4500. CONSUMER THEN APPLIED BRAKES, BUT THAT DID NOT SLOW VEHICLE DOWN. TRAILER BEGAN TO FISHTAIL, VEHICLE FLIPPED, RPMS WERE STILL OVER 4000. CONSUMER SHUT OFF ENGINE, VEHICLE THEN CAUGHT ON FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. NO INJURIES, VEHICLE AND TRAILER WERE TOTALLED. *AK
I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE I HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME TRAVWLLING APPX 45-50 MILES AN HOUR. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.
THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SWERVE INTO THE OTHER LANE ON THE HIGHWAY, AND AS I ATTEMPTED TO REGAIN CONTROL WITH BOTH HANDS FIRMLY ON THE WHEEL, AND GENTLE STEERING, I FOUND I STILL HAD NO ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL WITH THE STEERING, IT WAS COMPLETELY LOOSE IT WAS DISCONNECTED. AT THAT SAME TIME, I WENT FOR MY BRAKES, ONLY TO FIND THEY ALL OF A SUDDEN WERE NOT FUNCTIONING EITHER. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY SWERVED INTO THE FENCE OF TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY, THEN THE VEHICLE TO FLIP TWO TIMES. *TR
THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL DETACHED FROM OUR 2002 DODGE DURANGO. STEERING WAS THEN UNRESPONSIVE. WE COLLIDED WITH CENTER CEMENT WALL AND OVERTURNED 2-3 TIMES. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2002 DODGE DURANGO WHEN I STRUCK THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE WHO WAS SITTING IN MY LANE ( A NON-TURNING LANE) NEITHER DRIVER OR PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT AND CRASHED INTO THE GUARD RAIL. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED LEG AND ARM INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE UPPER BALL JOINTS AND TIE RODS FAILED AND CAUSED THE CRASH. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE UNABLE TO EXPLAIN WHY THIS OCCURRED AND STATED THAT NO RECALLS WERE AVAILABLE. IN 2005, THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER RECALL NUMBER 04V596000 (SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:UPPER BALL JOINT), IN WHICH THE TIE RODS AND BALL JOINTS WERE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD 46,000 MILES AT THAT TIME. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 69,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 55 MPH, 6 CAR LENGTHS BEHIND A VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED ABRUPTLY (A DISABLE VEHICLE WAS IN THE LANE) AND WHEN I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE KEPT ROLLING AS IF NO BRAKES WERE APPLIED. MY FOOT WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THERE WERE NO VIBRATIONS FROM THE ABS AS WELL AS NO LOWERING OF THE FRONT END, TYPICAL FROM BRAKING. I ENDED UP COLLIDING INTO THE VEHICLE AT ABOUT 30 MPH AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I HAD PREVIOUSLY COMPLAINED SEVERAL TIMES TO MY DEALER THAT THE BRAKES WERE FAULTY IN A PANIC SITUATION. I COMPLAINED SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE AND UP UNTIL A YEAR AGO. IN ALL INSTANCES, I WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY BRAKES AS NO CODE WAS DETECTED. *NM
DT: THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL ACCIDENT. UPON IMPACT, THE FRONT AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONSUMER SUSTAINED INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE. WE WERE DRIVING APPROX. 70MPH ON INTERSTATE 20 IN GEORGIA NEAR GREENSBORO EXIT. THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM OUR LEFT REAR TIRE AND SENT US OUT OF CONTROL ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. THIS WAS AT 5:30 P.M. ON FRIDAY AUGUST 19, 2005 IN BUSY TRAFFIC.WE WERE HEADED ACROSS THE MEDIAN WHEN MY HUSBAND JERKED THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT AND WE HIT THE GUARD RAIL ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. WE BOUNCED BACK INTO TRAFFIC AND HE SWERVED AGAIN TO THE RIGHT AND WE HIT THE GUARD RAIL AGAIN AND CAME TO A STOP. THIS IS THE MOST HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE OF OUR LIVES. MY 11 YEAR OLD HAS WHIPLASH AND BAD HEADACHES. I HAVE KNEE PROBLEMS AND ALL OF US HAVE EMOTIONAL TRAUMA ISSUES. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS VERY CLOSELY. I NOTICED OTHER COMPLAINTS HERE IN THIS WEBSITE. WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION, HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION CENTER.*AK
SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC: ANTILOCK WITH REAR ABS ONLY (2-WHEEL) WHEN THE ABS SYSTEM IS ACTIVATED THE VEHICLE SURGES FORWARD. IT IS AS IF THE FRONT BRAKES WILL NOT STOP. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SENSE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW. WHEN IT WAS MENTION TO THE DEALER THEY SAID THAT WAS HOW THE ABS SYSTEM WORKED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 15 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL SNAPPED OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE LOWER BALL JOINT SEPARATED FROM THE AXLE. *AK THE VEHICLE WAS FORCED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. *SC *JB EA03-023
WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS STRUCK FROM BEHIND BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF IT. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT BUT STILL SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE RIGHT KNEE. A POLICE OFFICER ARRIVED ON THE SCENE. ALSO, NHTSA PE 03-032, FRONT SUSPENSION UPPER BALL JOINT FAILURE: WHILE VEHICLE WAS GETTING REPAIRED MECHANIC FOUND THAT UPPER BALL JOINTS WERE WEARING OUT AT AN ALARMING RATE. *AK
TWO MONTHS AGO, A NEW FRAME WAS INSTALLED ON MY 2002 DODGE DURANGO. ON SEPT. 14, 2003 MY DAUGHTER WAS IN AN ACCIDENT ON INTERSTATE 26 COMING TO MY HOME. SHE SAID THE CAR WENT OUT OF CONTROL AND SHE HIT THE CONCRETE WALL AND ENDED UP IN THE SIDE OF INTERSTATE. THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE AXLE LOOKS LIKE IT BROKE. THE TIRE HAS NOT BEEN FOUND YET WHICH HAS THE STUDS, HUB ETC. *JB

THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A ROLLOVER COLLISION. BOTH FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SAFETY BELTS DID NOT LOCK OR RETRACT, RESULTING IN OCCUPANTS SUSTAINING SERIOUS INJURIES.*AK
I WAS COMING DOWN A DRIVEWAY FROM A STORE AND I ATTEMPTED TO STOP BEHIND ANOTHER VEHICLE WHEN I APPLIED MY BRAKES AND MY DURANGO LUNGED FORWARD TOWARDS THE OTHER VEHICLE AND IT DID IT TWICE BUT THE SECOND TIME I HAD BOTH MY FEET ON THE BRAKES AND I HIT THE OTHER VEHICLE.I HAVE NEW TIRES AND BRAKES AND ALSO THE PAVEMENT WAS WET BUT IT DID NOT SLIDE. IT WAS LIKE THE ACCELERATOR STUCK OR SOMETHING. MY WORRY IS THAT I COULD HIT A PEDESTRIAN NEXT TIME THIS HAPPENS. I HAD NO DAMAGE TO MY DURANGO BUT THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE OTHER VEHICLE.
