The driver stated both front driver and passenger side airbags deployed. The driver stated he had minor injuries on his right side shoulder and elbow but did not seek medical attention. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH IN THE RAIN, THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO SUDDENLY LOSE POWER AND THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SKID ON THE ROAD. The contact stated while his daughter was driving at 15 PMH and coming to a stop with his son in the front passenger seat, the brake pedal was depressed but hesitated to respond, causing a 50-60 feet in stopping distance delay. The brake warning light illuminated. The vehicle lightly crashed into the rear of another occupied vehicle. The contact stated that the air bags did not deploy as it was a fender bender. There were no injuries sustained. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake booster needed to be replaced. The independent mechanic informed the contact that the failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V572000 (Service Brakes, Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact became aware that his VIN was included in the recall though he had not received a recall notification. The dealer was notified of the failure through a voicemail message. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 166,000.

A CHEVY CRUZE PARKED BEHIND WAS STUCK(REAR TRUNK AREA). DRIVER, REALIZING VEHICLE WAS NOT STOPPING LOOKED INTO REAR VIEW MIRROR TO SEARCH FOR OPEN, SAFE AREA. DRIVER AIMED FOR EMPTY SPACE BETWEEN CRUZE AND A CHEVY EQUINOX. DURANGO HOPPED CURB, BOUNCING DOWN ON FRONT END OF EQUINOX, DAMAGING AND TEARING OFF FRONT BUMPER. AT SOME POINT DRIVER PUT BOTH FEET FIRMLY ON BRAKE PEDAL. VEHICLE CONTINUED ONTO GRASS, DIGGING INTO GRASSY AREA, FINALLY STOPPING BEFORE COLLIDING INTO TREES WHICH WERE BEHIND. IN ADDITION TO DAMAGE TO TWO OTHER VEHICLES, THE DURANGO SUSTAINED REAR END DAMAGE.. LEFT REAR TIRE WAS ON THE GROUND SIDEWAYS WITH TIRE DETACHED FROM RIM. STILL NOT SURE IF DURANGO FINALLY RESPONDED TO BRAKES OR IF TIRE SNAPPING OFF SUSPENSION IS WHAT FINALLY STOPPED VEHICLE. THIS ALL OCCURRED WITHIN SECONDS. STATE POLICE WERE SUMMONED, REPORT TAKEN. DURANGO REMOVED FROM SCENE VIA FLAT BED TOW TRUCK. DAMAGE ESTIMATES AND POLICE REPORT ARE PENDING AT THIS TIME.

THIS TRUCK WAS ALSO AT THE DEALERSHIP 4 DAYS PRIOR TO BE SERVICED FOR RECALL CAMPAIGN R09/NHTSA 14V-115.

EXPLAINED TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THERE WAS NO CHECK DONE TO CONFIRM THAT AIRBAGS WERE IN WORKING ORDER. DEALER SAYS THAT IT OBVIOUSLY WASN'T SUFFICIENT ENOUGH IMPACT TO DEPLOY AIRBAGS. I'M NOT CONVINCED AFTER READING ABOUT DEFECTS. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS ADDRESSED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS REGARDING WINDOW GOING UP AND DOWN, LOCKING SYSTEM AND ALARM SYSTEM ACTUATING ON THEIR OWN, WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN PARKED. DEALER SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE ISSUE, BUT WHEN IT FINALLY WAS PROVEN, THEY REPAIRED THE WINDOW ONLY AND WE WERE FORCED TO PAY TO GET OUTER VEHICLE BACK. I FEEL THAT THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ISSUE.
