The contact owns a 2015 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while driving at 55 MPH, she was crashed into head-on by another vehicle which sent the vehicle backward into a guardrail. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The contact's right shoulder hit the steering wheel and her head hit the pillar on the driver's side door. The contact sought medical treatment after the accident and received an X-ray on her right shoulder; the results showed no broken bones. The other driver was transported to the hospital by ambulance for leg pain. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent tow yard where it remained in their possession. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and she was given a case number; she was then referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle had yet to be destroyed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 157,000.
Vehicle placed in park, driver exited vehicle, vehicle disengaged from park and advanced forward. Vehicle stopped by crash. Ford customer relations was notified and documented concern. Driver injured attempting re-enter vehicle to apply brake. Powertrain assembly or shift linkage possible result of issue.
I was stopped on the highway behind two other cars that were also stopped at a lane merger. A car hit my vehicle from behind and the impact caused my vehicle to hit the car in front of me, and that car to hit the car in front of them. When I unbuckled my seatbelt and got out of my vehicle, I noticed that my seat (driver's seat) had reclined backwards. I have lower & mid back pain as a result of the crash. My vehicle is currently at a tow lot where it has been labeled a total loss.
REAR TOW LINK SNAPPED WHILE WIFE WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH, LOST CONTROL, FISHTAILED ACROSS TRAFFIC LANES BEFORE REGAINING CONTROL AND PULLING OVER. WIFE WAS SCARED TO DEATH. HAD TOWED TO FORD SERVICE CENTER. TOLD IT WAS A RECALL ISSUE, REPAIRED FREE OF CHARGE. REPAIRED AND PICKED UP THE CAR. TWO DAYS AFTER REPAIR, 7 YEAR OLD GRANDSON AND I WERE DRIVING 65 MPH ON HWY WHEN REAR TOW LINK SNAPPED AGAIN, LOST CONTROL, FISHTAILED ACROSS TRAFFIC LANES BEFORE REGAINING CONTROL AND PULLING TO SIDE OF HIGHWAY. GRANDSON AND I WERE TERRIFIED. TOWED TO FORD SERVICE CENTER, REPAIRED TOE LINK AND REPLACED REAR TIE RODS. TOLD THE TIE RODS WHERE SO WORE OUT THAT VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. NO MENTION OF TIE ROD ISSUE FROM PREVIOUS SERVICE CENTER. PICKED UP CAR AFTER ALL REPAIRS COMPLETED. FOUR DAYS AFTER PICKING UP VEHICLE, REAR TOE LINK SNAPPED, WHILE SAME 7 YR OLD GRANDSON AND I WERE DRIVING NORTH ON INTERSTATE AT 75 MPH. LOST CONTROL, FISHTAILED ACROSS BUSY TRAFFIC LANES, CROSSED THE MEDIAN AND HIT REFLECTOR POST ON THE EDGE OF THE SOUTHBOUND LANE BEFORE REGAINING CONTROL NARROWLY MISSING ON COMING TRAFFIC. REFLECTOR POST HIT AN ONCOMING CAR CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE DRIVERS DOOR AND SIDE MIRROR. GRANDSON AND I ARE IN SHOCK, SCARED TO DEATH AS WE ALMOST HIT A CAR HEAD ON. CAR TOWED TO SAME FORD SERVICE CENTER FOR REPAIR. WHEN WE WENT CHECK ON CAR WAS TOLD BY THE STAFF THAT HE WOULD GIVE ME THE KEYS VERY HESITANTLY BECAUSE HE FELT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. DID NOT TAKE CAR BECAUSE WE ARE TERRIFIED TO DRIVE IT AS WE HAVE ALMOST DIED WHILE DRIVING ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. ALL WITHIN 400 MILES OF DRIVING. HAVE YET TO TAKE POSSESSION OF VEHICLE. WE ARE NOW STUCK WITH A VEHICLE, AND A LOAN, THAT WE ARE TOO AFRAID TO DRIVE. I'VE HAD TO SEE MY THERAPIST TO DISCUSS THE LEVEL OF STRESS, ANXIETY AND FEAR. GRANDSON WILL NOT GET IN A CAR ALONE WITH ME AS HE IS TO AFRAID.
SLOWLY PULLING OUT OF NARROW PARKING LOT EXIT LANE, THROUGH OPENED GATE. RAPID UNEXPLAINED ACCELERATION, SEEMED TO LAUNCH CAR ACROSS ONE WAY CITY STREET INTO RESTAURANT BUILDING. PASSENGER SEAT BELT (FASTENED, LEFT BRUISES) RELEASED UPON IMPACT; PASSENGER DASH BOARD AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY; DRIVERS' AIRBAG WEAK. PASSENGER HOSPITALIZED FROM LOWER AIRBAG, BROKEN LEG, SEVERE LACERATION.
MY HUSBAND LOSS CONSCIOUSNESS WHILE DRIVING DUE TO UNKNOWN REASONS (MEDICAL ISSUE). HE WENT OFF THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH AND CRASHED INTO SEVERAL TREES. DESPITE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END, RESULTING IN A TOTAL LOSS, THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. MY HUSBAND LATER EXPERIENCED POST-CONCUSSION SYMPTOMS AS DIAGNOSED BY THE HOSPITAL. INJURIES MAY HAVE BEEN PREVENTED HAD THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT REACHED INSIDE THE VEHICLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. THE CONTACT BECAME CAUGHT BETWEEN THE DOOR AND THE DRIVER'S SEAT WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. THE CONTACT WAS DRAGGED FOR APPROXIMATELY 4-5 FEET BEFORE A TEENAGER IN THE VICINITY WAS ABLE TO ENTER THE VEHICLE, PLACE THE GEAR INTO PARK, AND STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE MIGHT HAVE INADVERTENTLY SHIFTED THE GEAR SHIFTER INTO REVERSE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A FRACTURE TO THE PELVIC BONE, LACERATIONS, AND POSSIBLE TORN LIGAMENTS IN THE HIP AND SHOULDER. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE AS TO WHAT HAPPENED TO THE VEHICLE SINCE THE INCIDENT. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,999.

THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE, TREATED AND RELEASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT. THE INSURANCE COMPANY LABELED THE VEHICLE AS DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
WAS DRIVING AND THE STEER WELL BECAME LOCK COULDN'T TURN THE WHEEL, TRIED TO PUMP THE BRAKES AND THEY DIDN'T CATCH. END UP DRIVING RIGHT INTO A POLE AND THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY WITH EVERYONE HITTING THEIR HEADS AND KIDS GETTING CONCUSSIONS.

AFTER A MULTITUDE OF MEDICAL TESTS WE REALIZED THAT IT MUST HAVE BEEN CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING FROM THE EXHAUST OF MY VEHICLE THAT CAUSED HER TO FEEL BAD AND THEN PASS OUT. I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND PASSED OUT AT THE WHEEL. I RAN OFF THE ROAD AND HIT A GUARDRAIL. I HAD NAUSEA, HEADACHES, AND EXTREME FATIGUE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT AS WELL AS THIS DAY. AT THE TIME, I HAD NOT HEARD OF THE ISSUES SOME EXPLORERS HAD WITH EXHAUST. AFTER HAVING TO HAVE MANY TESTS RUN BY A CARDIOLOGIST AND NEUROLOGIST, NOTHING WAS FOUND. I HEARD OF THE EXHAUST ISSUE ON THE NEWS ONE NIGHT AND A LIGHT WENT OFF. MY FATHER HAS PASSED OUT TWICE BOTH WHILE DRIVING 2 DIFFERENT YEARS OF A FORD EXPLORER AND DOCTOR'S WERE UNABLE TO FIND A MEDICAL CAUSE. THE FIRST ACCIDENT IN AUGUST HE SPENT 3 DAYS IN ICU UNDERGOING MULTIPLE TESTS, THE SECOND ACCIDENT ON OCTOBER 8TH LEFT HIM WITH 9 BROKEN RIBS(SOME IN MULTIPLE PLACES), A BROKEN SCAPULA AND HIS #3 LUMBAR IS FRACTURED ALONG WITH A WEEK IN ICU. HE HAS BEEN THROUGH EVERY TEST THAT THE DOCTOR'S CAN THINK OF AND ARE UNABLE TO GIVE AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY HE PASSED OUT WHILE HE WAS DRIVING. HE HAS NOW BEEN ADMITTED TO A SKILLED CARE FACILITY DUE TO SO MANY BROKEN BONES. HE WAS ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY IN MOTION WHEN HE WENT UNCONSCIOUS BOTH TIMES TOTALING BOTH VEHICLES. HE REMEMBERS GETTING IN THE CAR AND STARTING TO DRIVE AND THEN NOTHING. HE IS A HEALTHY 71 YEAR OLD MALE WHO HAS NO MEDICAL ISSUES THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS. AUGUST 24, 2015 I WAS DRIVING TO A 7:00 PM EXERCISE CLASS .I WAS TALKING TO MY MOTHER VIA BLUETOOTH WHEN I SUDDENLY BLACKED OUT AND DROVE ACROSS THE SERVICE ROAD AND ALL 4 LANES BOTH NORTH AND SOUTH OF 287 . I WAKE TO EMERGENCY RESPONDERS PULLING ME FROM THE CAR AND PUTTING ME INTO A AMBULANCE , MY MOTHER COULD HEAR ALL OF THIS. I WAS TAKEN TO HOSPITAL AND HAD MULTIPLE TESTS RUN BUT NOTHING WAS FOUND . AFTER I WAS DISCHARGED I HAD SEVERAL MORE TESTS RUN AND AGAIN NOTHING WAS FOUND. $18,000 DAMAGE TO CAR , MEDICAL BILLS , MISSED WORK AND I HAD TO RETEST TO KEEP MY DRIVERS LICENSE BUT I NEVER COULD FIND A CAUSE. SPRING 2017 A FRIEND SENT ME A ARTICLE ABOUT FORD EXPLORERS LEAKING CARBON MONOXIDE INTO THE CABINS . THIS MADE COMPLETE SENSE. I PURCHASED A DETECTOR AND HAVE HAD IT TO GO OFF TWICE. I AM REPORTING THIS BECAUSE FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE . THEY HAVE SAID THIS ONLY HAPPENS IN MODIFIED POLICE VEHICLES BUT I CAN TELL YOU BY MY EXPERIENCE THAT IS NOT TRUE.

A 2015 FORD EXPLORER WAS INVOLVED IN A HIGH SPEED SIDE-IMPACT AND ROLLOVER COLLISION. THE SEATBELT WAS WORN AT THE TIME OF THE COLLISION BASED ON A PREPONDERANCE OF PHYSICAL EVIDENCE ON THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT SYSTEM AND INTERIOR VEHICLE COMPONENTS. THE ACM REPORTED THE DRIVER WAS "NOT BUCKLED" AT THE TIME OF THE COLLISION. THE PRETENSIONER DID NOT FIRE. THE BUCKLE ASSEMBLY WAS TESTED AND THE BUCKLE SWITCH APPEARED TO BE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. AFTER THE IGNITION WAS CYCLED TO "ON" FOR APPROXIMATELY 1 MINUTE AND 10 SECONDS, THE SEATBELT WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED AND DEACTIVATED PROPERLY WHEN THE LATCHPLATE WAS INSERTED AND REMOVED REPEATEDLY. AFTER 1 MINUTE AND 10 SECONDS, THE SEATBELT WARNING LAMP WOULD ILLUMINATE AND DEACTIVATE SPORADICALLY AS THE LATCHPLATE WAS INSERTED AND REMOVED.

MY CAR WAS STRUCK FROM BEHIND - 65MPH AND THE SEAT BELT DID NOT TENSION AND CAUSED MY HEAD TO BOUNCE OFF THE STEERING WHEEL CAUSING A LARGE KNOT ON MY HEAD AND TAKEN AWAY BY AMBULANCE - NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED (BUT THAT MAY BE DUE TO BEING STRUCK FROM BEHIND AND PUSHED INTO A VEHICLE IN FRONT) I WAS ROLLING 5 TO 10MPH AND SLOWING FOR TRAFFIC - HIT FROM BEHIND BY PICKUP - NO BRAKES APPLIED - FLEW FORWARD AND THE SEAT BELT TENSIONER RELEASED ALL THE BELT OUT AND STAYED THAT WAY - I WOULD THINK THAT I SHOULD HAVE BEEN STOPPED BY THE BELT AND BRUISED ACROSS THE CHEST - BUT ALL THE FORCE WAS TAKEN TO MY HEAD AND NECK OFF THE STEERING WHEEL AND WHIPLASHED BACK TO THE SEAT.
