Engine power reduced defect, causing affected models to lose power while driving at highway speeds. My son’s was driving 55 mph and then all of sudden the car decelerated to 20 mph in minutes before his 2016 Malibu stalled on [XXX]. Unfortunately the car did not make it to the emergency lane and as a result a SUV hit his car killing my daughter who was 33 weeks pregnant. The baby survived with lifelong injuries. Despite this recall, GM failed to notify vehicle owners, including the owner of the vehicle involved in the fatal accident on [XXX], in Dallas, Texas, resulting in my daughter’s death. This defect has been found in several 2016 Malibus, prompting a class action lawsuit against GM. Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit reported having to restart their vehicles or replace faulty accelerator pedal position sensors to address the issue. ON JAN 6 2020. I WAS DRIVING A 2016 CHEVY MALIBU, WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND ENGINE REDUCE POWER LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED OVER AND LET THE CAR SEAT FOR MAYBE 10 MINS. I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND BEGIN DRIVING AGAIN (IT WAS PULLING NORMAL). ABOUT 3 MILES DOWN THE ROAD I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN AND THE CAR STOP PULLING AND THE REDUCE ENGINE POWER LIGHT COMES ON WHICH LEAVES ME IN THE MIDDLE OF A INTERSECTION SECTION CAUSING A VEHICLE COMING FROM MY RIGHT SIDE TO SLAM INTO THE SIDE OF VEHICLE DEPLOYING ALL OF MY AIRBAGS AND MAKING ON-STAR ASSISTANCE COME ON. IN THE RESULT I HAVE NECK, BACK AND SIDE INJURY FROM THE IMPACT. WHICH IN THE RESULT I'M GETTING SUED BECAUSE MY CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN GOING LEFT. MY CAR WAS TOTALED OUT AND MY INSURANCE DON'T WANT TO PAY THE FULL VALUE OF WHAT I WAS LEASING IT FOR. WHICH I HAVE TO COME OUT THE POCKET WITH EXPENSES. AFTER REVIEWING THE "ENGINE REDUCE POWER" AND DOING MY RESEARCH I COME TO FIND OUT IT HAS BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS. I COULD HAVE LOST MY LIFE!
TAMARA RECALL OF DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYING. BARELY BUMPED SOMEONE FROM BEHIND GOING UNDER 5MPH & BOTH DRIVER SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED

The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked overnight on an incline with the front of the vehicle facing forward, the contact stated that the electronic parking brake unexpectedly released, and the vehicle rolled away and crashed into the neighbors vehicle, causing damages to the headlights and the bumpers of both vehicles. The contact stated that there was no one inside the vehicles during the crash. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. A Police report was not filed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 102,000.
The contact's finance owns a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the brake pedal would hardened when depressed without warning. While driving at 15 MPH, the contact crashed into another vehicle due to the hardened brake pedal. The driver side air bag failed to deploy as needed; the air bag slightly popped out of place but did not deploy. A police report was filed; no injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the mechanic verified that the vacuum pump needed repair. In addition, the contact mentioned that the vehicle would independently downshift while driving at a high rate of speed as the "engine reduce speed" warning message would appear on the instrument panel. The dealer and the manufacturer were both notified the failures; a case was filed with the manufacturer. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
-Braking system failed and is available upon request. - My safety, my family’s safety, and other parties on the road were affected as well. -Not confirmed by a dealer but multiple people have had this same issue and experience. -the components were inspected by police, dealerships, OnStar, and collision center. -no lights or indications of brake problems
While I was pulling into a parking spot, my 2016 Chevrolet Malibu suddenly accelerated without any prior warning. The sudden unintended acceleration caused the vehicle to somehow jump the curb, hit a sign, and go airborne landing on two park cars which, resulted in damage to the front end and passenger side fender, front grill, left tire and other parts. The car was leaning to one side and I had to pry open the driver side door to get out. One of the other cars was totaled and the other had hood damage. It took two tow trucks to remove the car off of the other cars, it was towed to a repair shop and repaired by my insurance company but I no longer have possession of it. I was too terrified of it to keep it. It is still unknown what caused the vehicle to malfunction.
ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. INVOLVED IN A COLLISION
I OWN A 2016 CHEVY MALIBU AND ONE OF ITS FEATURES IS AN AUTO STOP/START FEATURE IN THE CAR. WHEN THIS CAR ENTERS THIS MODE WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF OF THE BREAK IT IS SUPPOSED TO START AGAIN BUT WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF OF THE BREAK IT WILL JUST COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN, WHEN I TRY TO START THE CAR AGAIN IT WILL JUST STALL. I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON JUNE 9TH 2019 WHERE THE CAR CUT OFF AND ROLLED BACK INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THIS IS JUST ONE OCCASION OF THE CAR CUTTING OFF ON ME AND BECOMING IMMOBILE. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A BATTERY ISSUE AND A WIRING ISSUE I'VE GOTTEN BOTH ADDRESSED BUT IT STILL HAPPENS. I'VE RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CHEVY THAT MAY ADDRESS THE ISSUE BUT I HAVE TO SEE. MY CAR CURRENTLY WON'T START. TODAY IS SEPTEMBER 24,2019
EGINE POWER REDUCED LIGHT. THE CAR WONT GO OVER 20-30MPH. BRAKES MALFUNCTION CAUSING A SMALL FENDER BENDER. ITS HARD TO START WONT STAY RUNNING. IT EVEN LOST POWER ON THE HWY A FEW TIMES BEFORE THE WRECK.
I WAS DRIVING NORTHBOUND ON I-435 WHEN AVOIDING AN ACCIDENT. I PRESSED MY BRAKE AS HARD AS I COULD. MY VEHICLE DID NOT STOP SO TO AVOID CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT I WENT OFF ROAD IN THE CENTER OF THE TWO HIGHWAYS. AFTER HITTING THE GUARDRAIL TO STOP MY VEHICLE FROM FALLING INBETWEEN THE OVERPASS. MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY . I FEEL SOME CONCERN AFTER HAVING MY BREAKS CHECKED AND TOLD THEY WERE GOOD. THEN IF I'M AT STOP AND I RELEASE THE BREAK FOR MY CAR TO START BACK UP. I GIVE IT A SECOND AND THEN PRESS THE PEDDLE IT DOES NOT MOVE WHICH HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HOLD UP TRAFFIC OR ALMOST BEING HIT WHEN VEHICLES WERE AT SAFE DISTANCES.
ON 1/4/2018 I WAS DRIVING ON I-95 AND THE CAR BRAKES SUDENLY STOP WORKING COMPLETLY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A MEDIAN. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT CALLED CARLISLE CHEVROLET BUICK GMC CADILLAC AT (972) 938-8000 (LOCATED AT 1701 US-287 BYP, WAXAHACHIE, TX 75165) AND WAS INFORMED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS COMPLETED AT HER RESIDENCE BY A FAMILY MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE ROTOR SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
2/2/18. WAS TRAVELING AT 47 MPH WHEN A TRUCK STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS APPROXIMATELY 10 CAR LENGTHS AWAY. I HIT THE BRAKE TO STOP, FELT THE PEDAL VIBRATE FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE VIBRATION WENT AWAY. PUMPED THE PEDAL AGAIN AND SLOWED THE VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO GET OVER TO THE RIGHT BEFORE HITTING THE TRUCK. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, THE AUTO STOP FEATURE DID NOT WORK. THE ONSTAR DID NOT ACTIVATE.THE ROADS WERE DRY, AND THE ROAD WAS FLAT. GM SENT SOMEONE TO RETRIEVE THE DATA FROM THE COMPUTERS, WE HAVE COPIES OF THE REPORT. THE DATA SHOWS 5 SECONDS BEFORE THE CRASH. ACCORDING TO THE BRAKING DATA, THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED AT 47 MPH AND THE VEHICLE SLOWED BUT DID NOT STOP. AFTER GETTING THE VEHICLE BACK FROM THE BODY SHOP, WE HAD THE CODES PULLED AND FOUND NUMEROUS CODES IN THE DIFFERENT MODULES. THERE WAS A CODE U0415-71- INVALID DATA RECEIVED FROM ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE PRESENT AS A HISTORY CODE. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CHEVY DEALER AND THEY CONFIRMED ALL THE SAME CODES. WE HAD TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE ORIGINAL DEALER THAT DID THE BODY WORK IN CASE IT WAS ACCIDENT RELATED. THE SECOND DEALER IS CLAIMING THAT EVEN THOUGH CODES ARE PRESENT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN FIND WRONG. I BELIEVE THE ABS FAILED ON THIS VEHICLE AND WAS THE DIRECT CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT.
I SLAMMED ON THE BREAKS AT AROUND 55-60 MPH AND I KNOW MY ANTI LOCK BREAKS DIDN'T LOCK. I FELT THE WHEELS STILL ROLLING MY CAR SLOWLY CAME TO A BUMPY STOP. AS IF THE TIRE WOULD ROLL THEN STOP ROLL THEN STOP.
