[XXX] WAS DRIVING HER 2002 FORD ESCAPE WHEN, WHILE ACCELERATING UP A HILL, THE SPEED CONTROL THROTTLE GUIDE ROTATED UP INTO THE APPEARANCE COVER AND BECAME LATCHED IN A RIB. THIS RESULTED IN A WIDE OPEN THROTTLE, AND [XXX] WAS UNABLE TO SLOW OR STOP THE CAR. THE BRAKES THEN OVERHEATED AND FAILED, AND SHE SPED THROUGH TOWN UNTIL SHE SWERVED TO AVOID ANOTHER CAR AND CRASHED. HER CAR ROLLED SEVERAL TIMES, AND [XXX]WAS KILLED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ENTER THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE ACCELERATION AND SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL, APPLIED THE BRAKES AND ACTIVATED THE EMERGENCY BRAKES BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND AND THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A VEHICLE, FOLLOWED BY A POLE. THE VEHICLE THEN IGNITED IN FLAMES. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED AS A RESULT. THERE WAS A POLICE REPORT FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
ATTORNEY FOR DRIVER'S FAMILY AND MEDIA REPORTS INDICATE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE IN THE PHOENIX / MESA AREA ALONG ARIZONA STATE ROUTE 87 TOWARDS PAYSON. THE FINAL APPROACH TO PAYSON INVOLVES A PROLONGED UPWARD GRADE, WHICH WOULD HAVE REQUIRED HEAVY ACCELERATOR USE BY THE DRIVER. ALONG THE WAY, THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO DISENGAGE THE ACCELERATOR OR OTHERWISE BRING THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE STOP. THE VEHICLE STRUCK OTHER VEHICLES AS IT TRAVERSED AN INTERSECTION, AND ROLLED, EJECTING THE DRIVER, WHO SUFFERED FATAL INJURIES. A SUBSEQUENT INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE DOCUMENTED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE CONNECTOR WAS LODGED AGAINST THE UNDERSIDE OF THE ENGINE COVER AND THAT THE THROTTLE WAS OPEN TO 84%. THE VEHICLE HAD RECEIVED THE ACCELERATOR CABLE REPLACEMENT FOR RECALL 04V574 IN JANUARY OF 2005. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2002 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, ANOTHER VEHICLE STRUCK THE FRONT END OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE SPUN AROUND AND STRUCK THE OTHER VEHICLE AGAIN. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT RECEIVED CHEST INJURIES THAT NEEDED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 177,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE.

WHILE INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE POLICE INDICATED THAT THE THROTTLE WAS STUCK CONTINUED TO REV AFTER THE CRASH. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE SPONTANEOUSLY ACCELERATED, HITTING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HI, BECAUSE HIS FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE, THE CRASH WAS NOT AS VIOLENT AS IT COULD HAVE BEEN. TWO OF THE PASSENGERS IN THE OTHER VEHICLE WENT TO THE HOSPITAL WITH SHOULDER INJURIES. THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE WAS DECLARED TOTALED. *JB

THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT DURING THE CRASH, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUFFERED HEAD, CHEST, AND LEG INJURIES AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 181,000.

HOWEVER, THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV AND THE WHEELS CONTINUED TO SPIN. THE CONTACT WAS THE ABLE TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE. UPON INSPECTION,THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOTALLED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE NECK AND BODY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
ESCAPE WAS HIT ON FRONT LEFT BUMPER BY ANOTHER VEHICLE, CAUSING ESCAPE TO EXIT HIGHWAY AND CRASHING INTO AND SLIDING DOWN A CONCRETE OVERPASS PILLAR; DAMAGING THE FRONT BUMPER, LIGHT, AND COMPLETE LEFT SIDE OF ESCAPE. THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY! *TR
ON NOV 26 I WAS DRIVING TO MY WORK AT 45 MILES PER HOUR AND THE DISTANCE I KEPT FROM THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME WAS SUFFICIENT TO ALLOW ME STOPPING ADEQUATELY. SUDDENLY, I NOTICED THAT TRAFFIC WAS APPROACHING TO A RED LIGHT SO I TAP ON THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN AND STOP. HOWEVER, THE BRAKES WERE NOT REDUCING THE SPEED SO IMMEDIATELY I STAMPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO LET THE CAR STOP WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY, I LOOKED TO REALIZE THAT I COULD NOT CHANGE LANES. AT THIS POINT I WAS LEFT WITH NO TIME TO GEAR DOWN THE TRANSMISSION OR TO PULL THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. CONSEQUENTLY, MY FORD ESCAPE WAS FORCED TO STOP BY CRASHING INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND PRODUCING A DOMINO EFFECT INVOLVING A THIRD VEHICLE IN FRONT OF US. FORTUNATELY, NO PERSONAL INJURIES WERE REPORTED FROM THE OTHER TWO DRIVERS WHOSE CARS WERE INVOLVED.. I DID SUFFERED SLIGHT NECK PAIN AND AFTER VISITING THE HOSPITAL I DID NOT HAD MAJOR INJURIES OR NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT SO FAR. IN REGARDS TO PERSONAL PROPERTY DAMAGES, THE TWO CARS IN FRONT OF MINE, HAD MINIMAL DAMAGES BUT, MINE WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED TO THE POINT IS TOTALLY INOPERABLE. ALL CLAIMS WERE REPORTED AND TAKEN CARE BY GEICO, MY INSURANCE COMPANY. ALSO A TRAFFIC CRASH CAR REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE CABLE THROTTLE STICK. THE CONTACT LATER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 12V353000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL CABLES) IN AUGUST 2012. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 173,000.

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED NECK INJURIES AS A RESULT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION AND THERE WERE NO FAILURES FOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 104,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
I CRASHED ON NOVEMBER 24TH OF 2010 DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP FAST ENOUGH BECAUSE OF MY ANTI LOCK BRAKES. HURT SOMEONE IN THE PROCESS,HAD TO PAY FINES AND COURT COSTS AND AN ACCIDENT ON MY PERFECT RECORD BECAUSE I WAS AT FAULT FOR RUNNING INTO THEM. MY GRANDDAUGHTER WAS OPERATING MY 2002 FORD XLT ESCAPE AND WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT RECENTLY IN AUGUST 2007. AN INDIVIDUAL RAN A STOP SIGN AND SHE HIT HIS VEHICLE BROADSIDE AT 50 MILES PER HOUR. THE AUTOMOBILE HAS BEEN CLASSIFIED AS TOTALED AT 10K PLUS DAMAGE. THE PROBLEM IS THAT NONE OF HER AIRBAGS DEPLOYED IN THE VEHICLE. SHE WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT BUT RECEIVED INJURES INCLUDING A PARTIALLY COLLAPSED LUNG, WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN A DIRECT RESULT OF THE AIRBAGS NOT STOPPING HER FORWARD MOTION. *JB
CAR LOST CONTROL COMING TOWARD ME, SHE WENT INTO MY LANE SIDEWAYS. I T-BONED HER ON HER PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE. SEAT BELT SAVED MY LIFE, BUT THE AIRBAGS WERE OF NO USE. WHY DON'T THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY ON THESE VEHICLES. IF I HAD BEEN TRAVELING AT A MUCH FASTER SPEED OR HER, I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT DROVE THROUGH A PATCH OF SNOW IN THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE'S REAR END SPUN AROUND AND HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE ABS SENSOR, THAT WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP ,CAUSED THIS ACCIDENT. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES DO TO THE SEAT BEAT BUCKLE BREAKING DURING THE ACCIDENT. *AK
