I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT ON JULY 26, 2015 AND THE SIDE IMPACT AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AFTER I HAD RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE MANY MONTHS PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT> EVERY TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR MAINTENANCE, THEY SAID THERE WAS NO "FIX" YET AT THE TIME. MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE WAS TOTALED IN THE ACCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING AT A RATE OF ABOUT 20/25 MPH WESTBOUND ON THE 2600 BLOCK ON ELM STREET ON SUNDAY 07/26/15 AT ABOUT 1:30 PM CST. I WAS ON THE LEFT LANE WHEN A CAR IN THE LEFT LANE MADE AN ILLEGAL LEFT TURN FROM HIS LANE IN AN ATTEMPT TO PARK AND T-BONED MY CAR INSTEAD. ALL AIRBAGS DEPLOYED EXCEPT FOR THE SIDE IMPACT BAG ON THE DRIVERS SEE THAT WAS ON THE RECALL. MY HEAD STRUCK THE DOOR FRAME AND I SUFFERED A CONCUSSION, MULTIPLE SOFT TISSUE INJURIES AND A TEMPORAL MANDIBULAR DISORDER
The contact owned a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 MPH, the rear passenger side door erroneously opened causing a distraction to the driver and the vehicle crashed into the rear of a second vehicle. During the crash, the front end of the vehicle was severely damaged but the air bag did not deploy. During the crash, the contact sustained neck, shoulder, and back injuries. No medical treatment was received. The vehicle was destroyed. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failures was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 212,000.
Unknown. Vehicle was coming to a stop and it "surged" forward. Brakes applied could not stop it. Caused accident, it hit the car in front which hit the next car in line. There were injuries. If this vehicle had surged in front of a pedestrian, there could have been a fatality. Vehicle was inspected by insurance company to determine cost to repair, not looking for cause. Vehicle wad totaled.
December of 2022 - Took car to shop due to engine overheat light and oil smell inside vehicle as well as other "codes coming up. Vehicle was repaired. May 2023 had to take car back to shop due to cranking and it immediately saying engine overheating, low coolant, and various other codes as well as brakes not properly functioning. Repair shop said it was low on coolant and added fluid, stated no leaks and returned vehicle. But repair shop shows it pulled 15 codes, including loss of communication with ABS control module A as well as 3 other "lost communication with" codes and the engine overheating. The NEXT day we had the same issues and had to put it back in the shop. They flushed system and replaced motor because a bad head gasket caused oil to mix with the water (again). Got the vehicle back July 10th and the traction control and braking felt off as it had before in Dec 2022 but then was fine. Noticed on 7/11 that there appeared to be something in the fluid tank that shouldn't be there (like black chunks) and called the repair shop to see about scheduling another diagnostic. On 7/13 my son was driving from work and the engine suddenly stalled saying overheating when it wasn't showing overheating. Pulled over, started to crank it back up and it was fine. On 7/14 on his was to work, he pulled to the edge of the roadway to miss multiple deer in the road and was unable to steer the vehicle back onto the roadway. The traction control kicked in and he could not steer the car back onto the road, brakes did not work and ended up causing him to crash. I have driven the car a few times when traction control would kick in when it really shouldn't and it would not allow me to steer, accelerate, or really do anything until it shut back off.
I was in an accident on 5/13/2023 and I got hit head on in the front. None of my airbags came out.

Bought my 2013 Ford Escape SEL 2 years ago. The airbag light has been on the whole time. I went and had it checked after I was hit in the passenger front side and airbags did not depoly. My husband got hurt. I was told it needs a part replaced. I know there was a recall on the airbags on this vehicle and the owner stated never had it replaced thru recall. I always have my 2 youngest grandbabies with me and I want to keep them safe. This is very important. Please help. 2nd issue is the front suspension, I can go over a rough road and it sounds awful making noise the whole time.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN A DRIVEWAY AND IT STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RE-ENTER THE VEHICLE TO STOP IT WHILE IT WAS ROLLING BACKWARDS AND WAS KNOCKED OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE NEIGHBORHOOD STREET. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL AND CRASHED INTO A PARKED TRAILER IN A YARD ACROSS THE STREET. THE CONTACT HAD SCRAPES ON HIS ARMS AND LEGS AND RECEIVED TREATMENT FOR INJURIES TO HIS SHOULDER, ARM AND BACK. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED BY AN AMBULANCE TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AFTER HE WAS DIAGNOSED AT AN URGENT CARE CENTER. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE ABLE TO BE DRIVEN FROM THE SCENE AND PARKED BACK IN THE CONTACT'S DRIVEWAY. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THE ISSUE MAY BE WITH THE BUSHING CABLE NOT ALLOWING HIS VEHICLE TO BE SHIFTED INTO PARK AND THUS ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO ROLL. THE VIN TOOL SHOWED NO RECALLS AT THIS TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A SLIGHT INCLINE AND ENGINE WAS OFF. PARKING BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. I OPENED THE PASSENGER DOOR TO GET MY BAG OUT AND REACHED OVER TO REMOVE MY KEYS FROM THE IGNITION. MY ARM BUMPED THE GEAR SHIFT AND THE CAR BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS. I TRIED TO MOVE IT BACK IN PARK BECAUSE MY 18 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER WAS IN THE BACK SEAT (IN HER CAR SEAT) BUT I COULDN'T MOVE THE SHIFTER AND THE TIRE RAN OVER THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY BODY. THE CAR RAN INTO A TREE AND BENT THE PASSENGER DOOR OPEN TO THE FRONT FENDER. WE MOVED THE CAR BACK TO THE DRIVEWAY AND RECREATED THE EVENT. THE SHIFTER MOVES EASILY OUT OF PARK WITHOUT NEEDING TO ENGAGE THE BUTTON; EVEN WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED.
MY VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. I WAS REAR ENDED BY A MID SIZE CAR GOING AT LEAST 55MPH. THE VEHICLE DID NOT BREAK BEFORE COLLIDING WITH MY VEHICLE. MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. BOTH MY DRIVERS SEAT AND MY PASSENGERS SEAS BROKE. THE PLASTIC SURROUNDING THE BASE OF MY SEAT WAS DISLODGED AND CRACKED. THE METAL STRUCTURE OF THE SEATS ALSO BROKE. BOTH MY DRIVERS SEAT AND FRONT PASSENGERS SEAT WERE COMPLETELY LAID BACK AND DID NOT RAISE AFTER THE COLLISION. THE SEATS BEFORE THE COLLISION WERE IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION. DUE TO THE AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOYING MY HEAD CONTACTED THE STEERING WHEEL.

MY FIANC AND I WERE PULLING OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED AND STOPPED COMPLETELY. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE THE SIDE AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY AND MY FIANC IS VERY LUCKY TO BE ALIVE! IT WASN'T UNTIL WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE THAT WE REALIZED THAT THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE HAS HAD SO MANY RECALLS. THERE ALSO HAS BEEN SO MANY OFFICIAL STALLING COMPLAINTS THAT AN INVESTIGATION HAD BEEEN NECESSARY! SINCE THE ACCIDENT, THE STALLING ISSUE HAS NOT IMPROVED BUT WORSENS AND IS NOW STALLING EVERYTIME WE PUT GAS INTO THE VEHICLE. IT STALLS AND WON'T START AGAIN. HE WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY; UPON EXITING THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE STALLED AND SHUT COMPLETELY OFF AT THE HIGHWAY EXIT RAMP LUCKILY HE WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OFF ON THE SHOULDER OR HE WOULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN YET ANOTHER ACCIDENT AND POTENTIALLY KILLED! FORD REALLY NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM! THESE VEHICLES HAVE BEEN WELL MAINTAINED AND FROM WHAT I HAVE READ MOST ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE FROM THE BEGINNING OF OWNING THE VEHICLE. WHEN MY FIANC WAS INJURED IN THE FIRST STALLING ACCIDENT WE WEREN'T THE OWNERS OF THE VEHICLE, MY AUNT WAS ALLOWING US TO BORROW HER VEHICLE AND SHE RECENTLY SOLD IT TO US; NOW THAT WE OWN THE VEHICLE WE REALIZE THAT THE ACCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED AND SHOULD HAVE! ALSO I UNDERSTAND THE SIDE AIRBAG NOT DEPLOYING IS ANOTHER RECALL ISSUE THAT HASN'T BEEN ADDRESSED WITH OUR SUV!
TAKATA RECALL MY VEHICLE HAD ENDLESS ISSUES AND PROBLEMS. I WOULD DRIVE A MILE OR SO TO GAS STATION, TURN OFF CAR, GET GAS AND THEN THE CAR WOULDN'T START OR DRIVE 15 MILES, DO A JOB, 30 MINUTES LATER GET IN AND THE CAR WOULDN'T START. IT TOOK SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE VEHICLE TO TURN OVER AND THEN STAY RUNNING. I WOULD THROW IT INTO GEAR TO GET THE ENGINE RUNNING AND SOMETIMES IT'D BE FINE, OTHER TIMES IT WOULD BOG DOWN AND STALL. I GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT AND MY CAR WAS TOTALED. I HAD MECHANICS LOOK AT THE ISSUE AND THEY WOULD SAY THE O2 SENSOR, WASTEGATE SOLENOID OR EVAP LEAK. THEY WOULD NICKEL AND DIME ME WITH ALL THESE LITTLE THINGS. THE CODES WERE, P0234,P26B7 AND P0456. THEY SAID COOLANT WAS GETTING INTO THE FUEL SYSTEM AND THAT WAS CONTRIBUTING TO THE STALLING AND PROBLEMS. I HAD TO SEE A CHIROPRACTOR AFTER MY ACCIDENT DUE TO SPINAL PAIN AND DISCOMFORT. HOWEVER, IT WAS WORTH THIS GETTING RID OF THIS LEMON ONCE AND FOR ALL. IF ANYONE ELSE IS EXPERIENCING THESE PROBLEMS, POST THE FIX SO THAT IT CAN SAVE SOMEONE ELSE FROM FINANCIAL, EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL PAIN. I DIDN'T LET ANYONE DRIVE MY VEHICLE(WIFE/FAMILY) BECAUSE I NEVER KNEW WHEN IT WOULD STALL AND WHERE.
'UNSAFE AT ANY SPEED': WE BOUGHT A NEW 2013 FORD ESCAPE. IT HAD MANY PROBLEMS, INCLUDING MANY SAFETY RECALLS. I REQUEST FORD BUY THE CAR BACK MULTIPLE TIMES (THEY REFUSED). OUR DRIVER'S SEAT BELT FAILED ON 12-25-2017 AT 09:55 AM, WHEN MY WIFE'S CAR WAS STRUCK FROM BEHIND BY A CAR GOING 50 MPH. BOTH CARS WERE TOTALED. MY WIFE WAS IN THE DRIVERS SEAWEARING HER SEAT BELT AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT & WAS THROWN FORWARD AND HIT HER HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT FAILED TO ENGAGE. SHE GOT A CONCUSSION INJURY AND HAD TO GO TO THE ER, ALSO A BAD WHIPLASH AND OTHER INJURIES, INCLUDING SEATBELT RASH ON LEFT COLLARBONE. SEAT BELT FAILED OR HER HEAD WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN INJURED. WE AREN'T FIRST FORD OWNERS TO BE INJURED BY SEAT BELT PROBLEMS. I FOUND MULTIPLE REPORTS ON THE NHTSA SITE OF DRIVER AND PASSENGER INJURIES IN 2013 & 2014 FORD ESCAPES DUE TO SEAT BELT FAILURES. (NOTE: THIS ISSUE MAY BE SIMILAR TO EXISTING NHTSA RECALL 16V875, FOR THE FORD FUSION, BUT NOT THE ESCAPE.) FORD HAS BEEN NOTIFIED MULTIPLE TIMES DRIVERS & PASSENGERS ARE BEING INJURED BY THE FAILURE OF DRIVER & PASSENGER SEAT BELTS, YET HAS TAKEN NO ACTION, NOR HAS NHTSA. PLEASE REVIEW THE SEAT BELT INJURIES IN 2013-2018 FORD ESCAPES. *** NOTE: I FOUND 12 NHTSA REPORTS OF SEAT BELT FAILURES IN J2013-2014 ESCAPES, INCLUDING 4 INJURIES. THE ESCAPE DESIGN CHANGED IN 2013. A.
