I WAS DRIVING WITH MY CRUISE CONTROL ON. I TAPPED MY BRAKES TO DISENGAGE MY CRUISE CONTROL AND THEY LOCKED LONG ENOUGH TO SEND ME INTO A FISHTAIL. I OVER-CORRECTED TO COME OUT OF THE FISHTAIL AND THE ESCAPE STARTED ROLLING. THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED EVEN THOUGH THE ESCAPE ROLLED SIX TIMES AND WAS TOTALED WHILE STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. MY DAUGHTER RECEIVED SOME MINOR SCRATCHES ON HER HANDS. I DISLOCATED MY LEFT THUMB, BROKE MY LEFT SHOULDER IN FOUR PLACES, SNAPPED MY LEFT FEMUR IN HALF, SHATTERED THE BOTTOM THIRD OF MY LEFT TIBIA, AND HAD A HAIRLINE FRACTURE TO MY RIGHT TIBIA JUST BELOW THE KNEE. I WAS ALSO THIRTY-FIVE WEEKS PREGNANT AND THE BABY DIED DO TO TRAUMA FROM THE CRASH. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED OCTOBER 7, 2008 AND I AM STILL IN THE HOSPITAL AS I AM WRITING THIS COMPLAINT ON JANUARY 4, 2009. FORD REFUSES TO COME LOOK AT THE ESCAPE TO FIGURE OUT WHY THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. *TR

I was in a major high speed frontal crash on April 4th. I hydroplaned on 204 and I almost died and none of my airbags deployed. I have several videos from the tow yard showing that they were still intact and didn't deploy, but this firm won'tlet me upload them. This car has never been in a wreck before, and my airbags were never recalled like other Takota ones around that time period. The wreck so serious that none of the first responders knew how I survived or on crawled out of the car to get help. The only savageable things for parts in that entire car were two floorboards and my airbags didn't deploy at all. I have suffered many lacerations and bruising all over my body.

MY 2006 FORD ESCAPE WAS PURCHASED IN AUGUST OF 2005. FOUR MONTHS LATER, NOVEMBER 2005, I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SLOT IN FRONT OF A RESTAURANT, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, WHEN IT SURGED AHEAD, WENT OVER A CONCRETE BLOCK, TOOK DOWN TWO POLES, AND HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. AT THE TIME I THOUGHT IT WAS THE BRAKES, BUT NO ONE COULD FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES. PEOPLE SAID I PROBABLY STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR, BUT I WAS CONVINCED THAT I DID NOT. I COULD NOT PROVE ANYTHING. JULY 22, 2018, TWELVE YEARS LATER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SLOT IN THE BACK OF MY CHURCH PARKING LOT. THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND THE CAR SURGED FORWARD, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, AND IT HAPPENED SO QUICKLY, THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO. I WENT OVER A CONCRETE BLOCK AND SMASHED INTO THE SANCTUARY WALL. I WAS INJURED AND HAD PROBLEMS FOR ABOUT A MONTH AND A HALF. I READ AN ARTICLE ON THE INTERNET FROM THE NHTSA ON TORQUE NEWS THAT THE NORTH CAROLINA CONSUMERS COUNCIL (NCCC) SAYS THAT THESE VEHICLES ARE EQUIPPED WITH AN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY SYSTEM THAT COULD FAIL - CAUSING THE ENGINE TO EITHER SURGE OR STALL. THIS IS ONLY UNDER INVESTIGATION NOW, NO RECALL. I AM SURE THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE, BUT I CANNOT PROVE OR DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MY ESCAPE FOR 13 YEARS AND ONLY HAD 50,000 MILES ON IT, BUT I HAD IT TOTALED. IT COULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED, BUT I COULD NOT TAKE THE CHANCE OF IT HAPPENING AGAIN. WHAT IF I HAD HURT SOMEONE OR WILL SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE THEY HAVE A RECALL ON THE ESCAPES? IT IS TOO LATE FOR ME TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT MY 2006 ESCAPE, BUT PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR DIES. I DID PURCHASE ANOTHER ESCAPE, A 2011. DRIVING DOWN A STREET IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED. IN PREVIOUS OCCURRENCES I WAS TOLD THAT THE CALIPERS FROZE UP AND THAT THE BRAKES WOULD MAKE A GRINDING NOISE. NEITHER FRONT AIRBAGS DEPLOYED YET THE STEERING WHEEL WAS BROKE ND THE WIPER UNIT???THE DAMAGE TO THE CAR WAS EXTENSIVE, ALMOST TOTALING IT, THE DAMAGE WAS ABOUT$9000 DOLLARS. THE ONLY REASON IT WAS NOT TOTALED BECAUSE THE SUV HAD ONLY 28,500 MILES ON IT AND HAD BEEN VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND SERVICED REGULARLY BY ONLY FORD TECHNICIANS. I BOUGHT THE CAR FOR WELL OVER 26,000 DOLLARS. THE PASSENGERS AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD ALWAYS COME ON IF I SAT IN THE PASSENGER'S SEAT. I HAD IT CHECKED OUT 2 TIMES BY FORD, BUT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING. I NOTICED WHEN THE LIGHT DID COME ON I HD TO ADJUST MY SEAT BACK AND FORTH THEN THE LIGHT WENT OFF. I WAS BROADSIDED AND KNOCKED INTO A UTILITY POLE. THE FRONT END WAS WRAPPED AROUND THE UTILITY POLE. I WAS DRIVING MY MOTHER'S 2001 FORD ESCAPE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AT ANY TIME. DUE TO THIS MY CHEST AND LEFT SHOULDER WERE INJURED GREATLY. I HAD TO BE CUT OUT OF THE SUV. WHEN THE POLICE ARRIVED I HEARD THEM MENTION THAT THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND TOLD THEM TO BE CAREFUL WHEN CUTTING ME OUT OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS TAKEN TO THE ER ON THE DAY OF THE ACCIDENT AND ON THE NEXT DAY I HAD TO GO BACK BECAUSE OF HEAD AND CHEST PAINS. I DO BELIEVE IF THE AIR BAGS HAD DEPLOYED MY INJURED WOULD HAVE BEEN LESSER. THE SEAT BELT DID NOT LOCK, RESULTING IN IMPACT WITH THE STEERING WHEEL CAUSING TWO FRACTURES OF THE STERNUM, A HEMATOMA TO THE LEFT CHEST, AND FRACTURES TO THE LEFT SHOULDER, AS WELL AS, HEAVY BRUISING TO THE FOREHEAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND AND A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. PHOTOGRAPHS WERE TAKEN OF THE VEHICLE AND THE CONTACT WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE SERVICE DEALER FOR REPAIRS AND MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. REPAIRS WERE MADE PRIOR TO THE MANUFACTURER'S ENGINEER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE AND THE SERVICE DEALER REFUSED TO PROVIDE THE CONTACT WITH THE DEFECTIVE PARTS.

The rear shock tower has rusted out and broken away from the frame which was conformed at a local body shop. The passenger side went first then the driver side went about a year later. There was no warning that this was happening until it broke while driving which made us lose control of the car. When we took it to a repair shop and said it was 2006 escape they responded what side did the shock tower break on this was before we told them it was a shock tower they said it's always that part on a escape I personally know 2 other people who have had the same problem all different years of escapes.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.

I KEEP UP ON THE MAINTENANCE WHICH REQUIRES BRAKES CHECK MY COMPLAINTS AND AFTER THE FIRST THEY ACCIDENT IN MARCH WE ASKED FORD TO CHECK BRAKES THE SAID IT WAS FINE LESS THAN A MONTH LATER ANOTHER ACCIDENT SAME THING BRAKES STOP AND RELEASE WE TOOK IT BACK IN AND THE MASTER CYLINDER HAD BEEN BROKEN I HAVE CHILDREN I DRIVE CHILDREN AND THIS COULD DEFINITELY HAVE HURT US OR SOMEONE ELSE MY CAR IS NOTHING BUT TROUBLE AND DANGEROUS ACTUALLY THE BODY SHOP SAID IT WAS BROKEN BEFORE. The contact owns a 2006 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while pulling into the driveway, the check engine warning light illuminated and there was smoke coming from under the hood. The contact parked the vehicle and noticed that the smoke had increased. The contact stated that as he exited the vehicle, the smoke became darker. The contact stated that upon looking through the passenger's side wheel well, he saw flames under the engine compartment. The contact then walked away from the vehicle. The contact stated that the entire front end of the vehicle and dash had significantly burned and melted. The contact was able to extinguish the fire with the assistance of the fire department. A fire department report was filed. There was no injury sustained. The vehicle remained at the residence. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 164,000.

MY FRIEND BORROWED MY 06 FORD ESCAPE, WHICH HAD NOT SHOWN ANY MECHANICAL ISSUES. SHORTLY AFTER GETTING ON THE INTERSTATE HWY, THE GAS PEDAL STUCK TO THE FLOOR AND RAPIDLY EXCELLERATED TO 85 MPH PLUS, WITHOUT WARNING. IT IS A 6 LANE HWY AND WAS SATURDAY. PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND USING BOTH THE BRAKE AND THE E BRAKE, WHILE TRYING TO MANEUVER TRAFFIC TO GET TO THE SHOULDER, AS A TRACTOR TRAILER RIG WAS BARRELING BY UNAWARE. THIS WAS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. IT IS MIRACULOUS THAT NO ONE WAS HURT. THE BRAKES SMOKED AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AS A PRECAUTION. IT HAD TO BE TOWED. UPON RESEARCHING FURTHER, WE DISCOVERED ALL THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE THROTTLE BODY PROBLEMS. I AM DISAPPOINTED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN NO WARNINGS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. WILL SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE, BEFORE ANY ACTIONS ARE TAKEN? IT SEEMS AS THOUGH PREVENTION WOULD GO FURTHER, RATHER THAN REACTING TO ONLY THE EXTREMES OF DEATH AND DISMEMBERMENT. I AM SUGGESTING THAT FORD TAKE A PROACTIVE POSITION HERE AND NOTIFY FORD ESCAPE OWNERS. FIX THE ISSUE!!!

ON MY HOME FROM THE GROCERY STORE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 TO 60 MPH IN OUR 2006 FORD ESCAPE 4 CYL SUV. THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD POP AND THEN CAUGHT ON FIRE. FREAKED OUT I PULLED OFF IN A DRIVEWAY. WE POURED SODA POP FROM 2 LITRES ON THE FIRE TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAME. THE MESH PIPE BEFORE THE LAST CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS GLOWING RED. I HAVE READ MANY STORIES OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ON ALL YEARS OF FORD ESCAPE. IT IS IN MY OPINION THE REAR CONVERTER STOPPED UP CAUSING THIS DAMAGE TO OUR ONCE LOVELY RIDE.NOW I AM NOT EVEN SURE IF IT WILL RUN. THE HEAT FROM THINGS LIKE THIS CAUSES MAJOR STRESS ON INTERNAL ENGINE PARTS AS THE EXHAUST HAS NO WHERE TO GO. THEN WHEN THE ENGINE EXPLODES AS IT SHOULD FIRE STARTS.
