OUR FATHER'S VEHICLE STRUCK A BRICK BUILDING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MILES PER HOUR(FRONT / HEAD ON ) IN 2007 FORD ESCAPE. HE SUFFERED SEVERE INJURIES (FRACTURED NECK, BACK, MULTIPLE RIB FRACTURES , AND DIED AS A RESULT 2 WEEKS LATER. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY ON IMPACT. WHAT IS OUR NEXT STEP? MY SISTER OWNED A 2007 FIRD ESCAPE. THERE WAS A TIRE ISSUE FIXED SEPT. 2008 AT MASS TIRE BROCKTON. AFTER THEY FIXED HER TIRE, WE EXPERIENCED SO LOUD, UNSTEADY ISSUE WITH THE TIRES. WE BROUGHT IT BACK AND THERE WAS VALVE WORK DONE. ON OCT. 08, 2008, MY SISTER DIED ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER HER CAR ROLLED OVER ATTEMPTING TO SWITCH LANES. SHE WAS ALONE. *TR

FRONT AIRBAG, STEERING WHEEL, DID NOT DEPLOY. FIRE CHIEF AND COUNTY SHERIFF DEPUTY WERE CONCERNED. CAR HAD NEVER BEEN IN A COLLISION PRIOR TO THIS. SINGLE OWNER, US, CAR. I WAS PARKED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, GOT OUT OF MY VEHICLE,WHEN I TURNED AROUND MY VEHICLE WAS HEADING TOWARD ME TRIED TO STOP IT RAN ME OVER AND THEN HIT A TREE , I RECEIVED INJURY TO MY LEGS, ALSO HAD TO HAVE MY CAR FIXED ON THE LEFT FRONT END. ON AUGUST 27TH OF 2009 I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 FORD ESCAPE WHILE CORRECTING MY CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT I HIT A WET SPOT IN THE ROAD AND LOST CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE I ROLLED 2 TIMES AND STOPPED WITH A FRONT END COLLISION. THE SEAT BELT DID NOT CATCH CAUSING ME TO BASH MY FACE INTO THE STEERING WHEEL AT LEAST TWO TIMES. THE AIR BAGS ALSO DID NOT WORK EITHER. BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY EQUIPMENT IT CAUSED ME TO BREAK MY NECK IN 3 PLACES AND SPENDING 2 WEEKS IN THE HOSPITAL HAVING TO HAVE SURGERY WITH A METAL ROD AND TWO SCREWS....BECAUSE OF THE DEFAULTED EQUIPMENT I STILL SUFFER FROM PERMANENT NERVE AND MUSCLE DAMAGE AND CHRONIC PAIN. *TR

SHE WAS FORCED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND WAS STRUCK HEAD ON BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS INJURED. I WAS TRAVELING NORTH AND THIS PERSON WAS GOING SOUTH, CROSSED THE CENTERLINE AND SLAMMED INTO ME, PUSHING ME BETWEEN TWO TREES AND TOTALING MY VEHICLE. IT WAS A HEAD ON COLLISION AND MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND MY SEAT BELT DID NOT RESTRAIN ME FROM SLAMMING MY FOREHEAD INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD DO NOTHING AND SEND NO ONE TO SEE WHY THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I ENDED UP BEING BROUGHT BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE X-RAYS SHOWED MY NECK WAS SPRAINED AND I HAD A SCRAPE TO MY FOREHEAD FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. A FEW DAYS AFTER THE REPAIR, WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CONTACT AND DRIVER HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE AND ODOR. SMOKE AND FLAMES WERE VISIBLE BEHIND THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND EVACUATED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD WHERE IT WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THERE WERE TWO INJURIES, ONE THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE DRIVER SUFFERED FROM SMOKE INHALATION AND NERVE DAMAGE. THE PASSENGER SUFFERED FROM RIB PAIN AND SMOKE INHALATION. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 129,000.
ABS service system warning came up on my dash along with the brake light and the abs light, immediately after the lights came on the ability to stop and stay stopped vanished.
ABS service light comes on intermittently, when light is on a "service brake system" warning comes across the guage cluster. While this service light is on the escape has little to no braking and requires upwards of 300ft to stop when going 45mph. Once the vehicle is brought to a stop you can hear the brake system attempting to pressurize but only making a repeated grinding noise directly in front of the driver in the engine bay. Once vehicle is parked and shut off the brakes continue to make the same grinding noise. After allowing the vehicle to sit over night you may get lucky and have fully functioning brakes or you may unlock the door and hear the grinding noise letting you know the abs warning will be illuminated once the car is started. I have currently rear-ended another vehicle while stopped at a red light because no matter how hard I pressed on the brakes my vehicle continued to roll forward into another vehicle. My vehicle passed inspection with zero obdII codes the day I bought the escape Friday, May 27, 2022. Exactly a week later on June 2, 2022 I experienced severe brake failure and rear ended a 2021 Toyota 4runner. No major damage was caused to either vehicle. Two days later on June 4, 2022 the brake system failed once again causing me to drive my vehicle off the road into the median to avoid an impact at 65mph on interstate I-85. I am a father to my 3 year old daughter, but I am unable to transport my daughter in fear of endangering her life because of a faulty brake system Ford refuses to recall.
WITHIN A MONTH OF PURCHASING VEHICLE, MILEAGE 67,000, COMPLETE BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE. COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL AND WILL BE IF NOT CORRECTED. MANY EXACT COMPLAINTS FOUND ONLINE. VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP COMING TO LIGHT. HAD TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD INTO A WOODED AREA FOR THE VEHICLE TO STOP. FELT LIKE VEHICLE WAS SLIDING ON ROAD. LATER REALIZED IT WAS A ABS SYSTEM FAILURE NOT SLIDING. ABS LIGHT IS ON. BRAKE SYSTEM NEEDS SERVICE LIGHT ON. EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON. APPROXIMATELY 75% OF THE TIME, WHEN FIRST DRIVING VEHICLE, ONLY THE SERVICE BRAKE DISPLAY IS ON. THE VEHICLE WILL BEGIN TO BUCK/STUTTER, STEERING WHEEL SHAKES, AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES. AFTER ACCELERATING, THAT STOPS AND RETURNS TO WHAT I DESCRIBED.ABOVE. I READ SINCE THERE WERE NO FATALITIES REPORTED FORD WILL NOT RECALL. I AM CERTAIN THERE HAVE BEEN FATALITIES DUE TO THIS PROBLEM, JUST NOT IDENTIFIED.
I HAD PARKED MY VEHICLE BEHIND ANOTHER ON PINE CREST DRIVE, A PUBLIC STREET WITH NO DESIGNATED PARKING. THERE IS ABOUT ROOM FOR 3 VEHICLES TO BE PARKED IN THIS AREA, OR 2 VEHICLES IF ONE HAS A TRAILER. I WAS PARKED IN THE MIDDLE BECAUSE IT WAS MY CLOSEST OPTION, AND THEN HAD LEFT IT THERE FOR A COUPLE DAYS WHILE I WAS IN BED SICK, BY THEN THE VEHICLE IN FRONT WAS GONE. A FAMILY FRIEND WITNESSED THE OTHER DRIVER COME BY WITH HIS 2003 GMC SIERRA, TRY TO PARK HIS VEHICLE IN FRONT OF MINE, AND BACKED INTO ENOUGH TO MOVE IT 6 INCHES. THERE ARE SOME SCRATCHES AND THE BODY IS BENT A BIT. INITIALLY AFTER TALKING TO HIM WE WERE UNDER THE IMPRESSION HE WOULD COME BACK TO US AFTER CALLING HIS INSURANCE COMPANY, BUT APPARENTLY HE THOUGHT THERE WAS NO DAMAGE UNTIL AN ESTIMATE WAS WRITTEN UP AND CONFRONTED AGAIN. AT THAT TIME HE ADMITTED TO BACKING INTO MY VEHICLE INTENTIONALLY BECAUSE IT WAS "HIS" PARKING SPOT. AFTER CALLING THE DANE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE WE WERE INFORMED THAT THERE WOULD BE NO INVESTIGATION AND NO POLICE REPORT, BUT THAT WE SHOULD FILE HERE.
MY DAUGHTER, JULIE MAYO, WAS DRIVING ON HWY 280 IN BIRMINGHAM, AL WHEN SHE APPROACHED A STOPPED VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY. SHE WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE FORD ESCAPE TO AVOID THE CRASH EVEN AFTER APPLYING BRAKES. A SUBSEQUENT INSPECTION BY A CERTIFIED MECHANIC AT JOE HUDSON'S INDICATED THE THROTTLE WAS STUCK AND THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING AT 4000 RPM FOLLOWING THE COLLISION. DAMAGES TO THE ESCAPE WERE ESTIMATED AT $5700 INCLUDING FRAME DAMAGE, THEREFORE THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS BY STATE FARM. THE CURRENT FORD ESCAPE RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT EXTEND TO INCLUDE 2007 MODELS. IT SHOULD.
NOISES/SQUEAKING AT CERTAIN SPEEDS. SEVERAL COLLISIONS DUE TO STOP TIMING BEING OFF. MOST RECENTLY RATTLING, HIGH PITCHED SCREECHING FOLLOWED BY FAILURE TO ACCELERATE, BURNING SMELL, AND COMPLETE ELECTRICAL FAILURE. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER WHILE TURNING. THERE WAS ALSO AN ABNORMAL HISSING SOUND WITHIN THE STEERING COLUMN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SEVEN DIFFERENT INDEPENDENT MECHANICS FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE MECHANICS REPLACED THE DRIVER SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARM, BALL JOINTS AND STEERING PUMP. THE FAILURE CONTINUED AFTER THE REPAIR. LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT THEN CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THAT THE RACK AND PINION WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
MY VECHICLE CAUGHT FIRE IN MY FRONT YARD OVER NIGHT SOMETIME IN THE REAR TRUNK OF MY SUV AND FORD DEALERSHIP AND THER CAUSE OF ORGIN HAS LEFT IT UNEXPLAINED. *NM

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE FAILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 41.
My 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid (mileage currently 180,000 but the issue started around 150,000 miles) will occasionally (varies from once a week to once every 3 months) not respond properly when I'm accelerating from a stop. When this happens, I can push the accelerator all the way to the floor, but the car will accelerate very slowly for the first 5 seconds or so, and then start accelerating normally again. When this issue first began, it nearly resulted in multiple crashes when I was pulling out into traffic, but now I leave lots of extra space when pulling into traffic in case this happens. I've taken the car to an independent mechanic to try to diagnose the issue and they were unable to observe it since it doesn't happen frequently or predictably enough. There were not any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the issue starting.
While driving, a red triangle to safely stop came up and the vehicle engine shut down. I could not accelerate since the engine was shut down, I could only coast and brake. After the vehicle has been cooling down for 20 min, I’m able to restart the vehicle and drive again until the same issue occurs again. No light on dashboard. Very dangerous issue as it often happens when driving on the freeway for a while. You have no way to accelerate the vehicle and need to slowly pull over on a busy freeway, endangering others and yourself. The issue has not been reproduced by a dealer or independent service center. No, the vehicle has not been inspected by anyone. Please note that this is a known recall for this vehicle but my VIN is NOT included in the recall.
