I WAS DRIVING MY JEEP AT NIGHT IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD. I LOOKED DOWN AND THERE WAS A SHARP TURN IN THE ROAD. BY THE TIME I REALIZED IT, IT WAS TOO LATE AND I HIT THE GUARD RAIL. THE FIRE STARTED RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY WINDSHIELD. I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT BUT WITHIN MINUTES MY ENTIRE JEEP THAT WAS LESS THAT A YEAR OLD AT THE TIME WAS COMPLETELY CONSUMED IN FLAMES. THE FRONT END WAS STILL IN TACT SO THE DAMAGE IN MY OPINION WAS NOT NEARLY ENOUGH TO RESULT IN TOTAL LOSS.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while stopped at a red light, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact's vehicle was rear-ended. The contact's wife, who was the other occupant of the vehicle, was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle. The contact's wife sustained a dislocated left hip. In addition, the contact's wife had previously had a left hip replacement and undergone four left hip surgeries. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. A police report was filed; however the information was unavailable. The contact stated that three months after the vehicle was purchased, the ABS, traction control, and several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a failed ABS module. The contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the parts were on back order. The contact stated that the order was placed almost thirteen months ago. The contact stated that the vehicle was almost rear-ended two times recently. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline and report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
EARLY MAY 2019 MY JEEP'S STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS STARTED MALFUNCTIONING AND NOW COMPLETELY NOT WORKING. THE HORN STOPPED WORKING, RADIO AND HANDS FREE CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. I CAN NOT USE MY DASH SCREEN AT ALL AND IT'S JUST SHOWING '- - '. I COULD NOT USE MY HORN ON MAY10TH AND WAS CUT OFF AND AS A RESULT WAS IN AN ACCIDENT. THE FRONT END WAS SIGNIFICANTLY DAMAGED AND THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY AND I BUSTED MY FACE ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND HIT HEAD ON WINDSHIELD. DIAGNOSTIC SCAN SAID THERE WAS 0 CODES PRIOR TO ACCIDENT AND THAT TRIGGERED ME TO DO RESEARCH ON THE CLOCK SPRING RECALL BUT MY VIN IS NOT UNDER IT???
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP WRANGLER SPORT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER SIGNIFICANT OTHER WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL LOCKED UP. AS A RESULT, CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WAS LOST CONTROL CAUSING THE VEHICLE FLIPPING OVER. NONE OF THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED RECEIVING A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V018000 (AIR BAGS). THE POLICE WAS PRESENT AND A REPORT WAS FILED UNDER NUMBER: 2019-20427. THE CONTACTS SIGNIFICANT OTHER WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE AND REMAINED THERE FOR THREE DAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND FACILITY. THE VEHICLE AS OF YET WAS NOT DEEMED DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS OR REPAIRS UNDER THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. *DT*JB
TAKATA RECALL, MY CAR WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE AT A SPEED APPROXIMATELY 45MPH. MY CAR WAS STOPPED 3RD ON THE RED LIGHT DRIVER SEAT BROKE OFF. NO AIR BAGS WAS ACTIVATED. MY QUESTION IS WHY? ALL PASSENGERS WAS SUSTAIN MAJOR INJURIES. NOW ALL BEEN UNDER DOCTORS SUPERVISION. THE DRIVER WHO IS REAR ENDED US FELL ASLEEP.
"TAKATA RECALL" I WAS IN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT ON THE 23RD OF MAY, A FRONT END COLLISION AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, THE SHOULDER/SEAT BELT KEPT ME FROM MAJOR INJURY.
ON 12/04/2016 I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT AROUND 80MPH WHEN A LOAD EXPLOSION STOPPED MY ENGINE. I IMMEDIATE STOPPED AS SMOKE STARTED TO COME INSIDE THE CABIN. AS SOON AS I EXITED THE VEHICLE I NOTICED A BIG FIRE UNDER THE CAR AND INSURE THE HOOD. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE FIRE OUT USING 3 FIRE EXTINGUISHERS. THIS REALLY COULD'VE ESCALATED QUICKLY. I NOTICED A BIG HOLE ON THE SIDE OF THE ENGINE. LOOKS LIKE IT THREW A ROD SINCE THE OIL PRESSURE WAS LOW. PROBABLY DUE TO FAULTY OIL FILTER MOUNT. THE EXACT REASON FOR THE ENGINE FAILURE AND SUBSEQUENT FIRE HASN'T BEEN DETERMINED YET AS THE DEALER WILL OT LOOK AT IT UNTIL CHRYSLER SENDS AN INVESTIGATOR TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. CHRYSLER WILL NOT SEND AN INVESTIGATOR AND IS ASKING FOR THE DEALER TO LOOK AT IT. IT'S BEEN OVER 10 DAYS AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. SO FAR, NEITHER PARTY HAS TAKEN THE ISSUE SERIOUSLY. Was in a car accident in which my jeep wrangler sport rolled twice and the front end is smashed. The car adjustors reviewed it as totalled out. The driver, I was the driver, airbags did not deploy. I'm highly concerned with this considering the damage to the vehicle and the wreck happening at a speed of over 50 mph.
TAKATA RECALL WE GOT THE NOTICED ABOUT THE RECALL. HOW IT COULD BE LIFE THREATENING. WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND IS HOW A RECALL CAN BE PUT OUT LIKE THAT AND THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. WE TOOK OUR JEEP TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WAS TOLD PART HAD TO BE ORDERED. LITTLE OVER A MONTH AND THE PART STILL WASN'T IN. NEEDLESS TO SAY OUR JEEP WAS IN A WRECK. NOW MY HUSBAND HAS NIGHTMARES BECAUSE WE WERE HEADING FOR A MEDIAN WALL STRAIGHT ON. SOME HOW HE GOT THE WHEEL TURNED JUST ENOUGH SO WE HIT THE CORNER OF THE BUMPER. THANK GOD THE AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY AS I COULD HAVE BEEN BADLY HURT OR DIED. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY GETTING PARTS TAKES SO LONG. SOMEONE NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE WHEN IT IS THE MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH. I HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH JEEP AND THEY WANTED TO KNOW WHERE OUR JEEP WAS SO THEY COULD LOOK AT IT. WHY DOES THAT MATTER?! IT DOESN'T CHANGE THE FACT THAT IT TAKES SO LONG TO GET PARTS. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS IS MY WHOLE REASON IN WRITING YOU. CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WAIT FOR PARTS ESPECIALLY WHEN THAT PART IS IN A VEHICLE. THE DATE BELOW IS THE DATE OF OUR ACCIDENT.

PARKED VEHICLE ON A SLOPE IN THE MOUNTAINS WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND WAS IN PARK. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING ALL PASSENGERS EXITING THE VEHICLE, IT SLOWLY STARTED ROLLING AWAY, BACKWARDS. IT TRAVELED DOWN A 4WD ROAD A SMALL DISTANCE BEFORE TURNING OFF AND TUMBLING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN. LUCKILY EVERYONE HAD EXITED THE VEHICLE AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THOUGH WE WERE PARKED ON A SLOPE, PROBABLY AROUND 15 DEGREES, THERE WAS COMPLETE FAILURE OF BOTH THE PARK GEAR AND THE PARKING BRAKE ALLOWING A ROLLAWAY. THE PARKING SURFACES WAS A COMBINATION SOLID ROCK AND DIRT.
WHEN CAR WAS 3 MONTHS OLD, I WAS PUTTING GEAR SHIFT INTO PARK AND IT POP BACK OUT AND I ALMOST WAS RAN OVER BY VEHICLE. LUCKILY, HAVE OF MY BODY WAS STILL IN CAR BUT IT HAPPENED SO FAST THAT I WAS PARKED NEXT TO A BRICK WALL AND IT HIT EXACTLY WHEN I PUT FOOT ON BRAKE. I DO HAVE REPAIR FORMS FROM RON LEWIS JEEP AND INSURANCE REPORT. SINCE THEN I HAD TWO MINOR PAINT PEEL ISSUES.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. THE BRAKE PEDAL STARTED PUMPING LIKE THE ABS SYSTEM KICKED IN. THE BRAKES WORKED AS EXPECTED MINUTES LATER (AFTER REAR ENDING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME).
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO SHUTTER THEN LOCKED UP CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO VIOLENTLY SWERVE TO THE RIGHT. MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN AT LOW SPEED, VEHICLE KEPT TURNING (DRIFTING) RIGHT, ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT TO THE LEFT WITH NO RESPONSE, VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH A BARRIER POST. JEEP SUSTAINED SIGNIFICANT FRONT SUSPENSION DAMAGE, RIGHT FENDER AND RIGHT WHEEL. AT TIME OF ESTIMATE, REPAIR SHOP HAD FOUND THAT THE STEERING BOX HAD SHEARED AND STATED THAT THE IMPACT SHOULD NOT HAVE CAUSED THIS DAMAGE. THEY ARE INVESTIGATING AND WILL KNOW MORE WHEN THEY BEGIN TEAR DOWN.

INCIDENT: WHILE STOPPING IN TRAFFIC WITH THE FOOT FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE MY JEEP HAD AN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION CAUSING A REAR IN CRASH. THIS UNINTENDED ACCELERATION HAPPEN BEFORE ON A TRIP TO TENNESSEE IN JUNE BUT WAS THOUGHT TO BE THE FLOOR MAT WHICH NOW IS KNOWN NOT TO BE THE CASE. ( BOTH WERE WITNESSED BY THE PASSENGER) THESE INCIDENTS AND COMPLAINT WERE GIVEN TO CHRYSLER REGARDING THE EXPERIENCE WITH THE VEHICLE ACCELERATING AND SURGING. HOWEVER, CHRYSLER DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY REGARDING THE MALFUNCTION WHICH RESULTED IN THE ACCIDENT. BECAUSE I REALIZED THE JEEP WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE LOCAL CHRYSLER JEEP DEALER. DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS AND TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY. I REFUSE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND BOUGHT ANOTHER CAR. THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED MY NEW VEHICLE WAS TOLD NOT TO SELL IT UNTIL THE TIMP IS REPLACED IN THE JEEP. THIS MISHAP HAS COST ME SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS WHICH SHOULD HAD BEEN PAID FOR BY CHRYSLER. *TR
