BRAKES FAILED AT LOW SPEED. *TR
AIR BAGS 1999 CHEVROLET PICKUP FAILED TO OPEN /DEPLOY. *AK
BRAKE LINES RUSTED OUT CAUSING ME TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT IN MOTION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE LOCKING MECHANISM FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT FRACTURED, CAUSING THE SEAT TO SLIDE FORWARD AND PIN THE CONTACT BETWEEN THE SEAT AND THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR BRUISING TO THE KNEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
MY VEHICLE WAS WRECKED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE VEHICLE THAT HIT MY VEHICLE WAS GOING EXCESSIVE SPEEDS (50-60MPH) AND RAN A STOP SIGN. DURING THE INCIDENT A PASSENGER WAS THROWN FROM THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW. THE FRONT AXEL WAS BROKEN AND THE ENTIRE PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL WAS TORN OFF INCLUDING THE AXEL AND BRAKES. THERE WAS SO MUCH DAMAGE DONE TO THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE IT IS A MAJOR CONCERN THAT NO AIRBAGS WERE DEPLOYED DURING IMPACT. THE VEHICLE ADVERTISES DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIRBAGS. *TR
I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO DRIVE AROUND A SHARP BEND, WHEN I PRESSED ON MY BRAKE PEDAL AND IT DROPPED TO THE FLOOR. I THEN DOWN SHIFTED, BUT COULD NOT STOP. BEFORE MY TRUCK PLUMMETED DOWN A WOODED HILL ( THE HILL BEING APPROX 50-60 YARDS LONG) I JUMPED FROM MY TRUCK, BUT GOT CAUGHT BETWEEN MY TRUCK AND A STATIONARY VEHICLE. I WAS THEN CRUSHED, AS MY TRUCK PROCEEDED TO PLUMMET DOWN THE HILL. THIS ALL CAUSING THE STATIONARY CAR TO HAVE SCRAPES, AND A DENT WHERE MY BODY WAS, AND CAUSING SEVERE BRUISING, SWELLING AND ABRASIONS OF MY UPPER LEGS, HIPS, AND BUTTOCK, AND I WAS UNABLE TO WALK FOR 3 DAYS AFTER THE INCIDENT BECAUSE OF LEG WEAKNESS, EVERY TIME I WOULD PUT WEIGHT ON MY RIGHT LEG IT WOULD GIVE OUT, AND CAUSE A SEVERE SHOOTING PAIN UP MY LEG INTO MY LOWER BACK, AND WAS UNABLE TO WORK FOR A WEEK. *TR
I WAS PULLING IP TO A STOP SIGN AND MY THROTTLE STUCK AND I HAD NO CONTROL TO STOP IT AND A GUY HIT ME IN THE FRONT END WHERE ALL THE SENSORS TO MY AIRBAGS WERE AND THEY NEVER DEPLOYED AND THE GUY WAS GOING 95 MPH WHEN HE HIT ME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED WITHOUT A RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE PROCEEDING VEHICLE AND IT WAS DRIVEN OFF THE ROAD INTO A GRASSY FIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE TO THE FRONT BUMPER AND UNDERCARRIAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WAS AN OPEN INVESTIGATION, NHTSA ACTION NUMBER EA11001 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC: FOUNDATION HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000. THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE FILED A REPAIR AND PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM AGAINST THE CONSUMER. UPDATED 08/30/12
MY 1999 CHEVY TRUCK BRAKES FAILED AND I HAD TO PUT IT IN A DITCH TO STOP IT BEFORE I RAN INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. WHEN I GOT IT PULLED OUT OF THE DITCH BY A TOW TRUCK WE LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK TO SEE THE PROBLEM AND THERE WAS A BUSTED BRAKE LINE BUT EVERY LINE UNDER THE TRUCK WAS RUSTED ALL MOST IN TO FOR IT TO BE NO OLDER THEN IT IS, UNDER THE TRUCK LOOKS LIKE IT IS 50 YEARS OLD CHEVY HAS A BAD PROBLEM ON THERE HANDS. *TR
APPLIED BRAKES WHEN COMING TO A STOPLIGHT, BRAKE PEDDLE WENT TO THE FLOOR, AND RAN INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN THE PAST 2 OR 3 MONTH I'VE HAD THIS HAPPEN. THE STEEL BRAKE LINE RUNNING ALONG THE FRAME RUPTURED, THEY WERE DIFFERENT LINE EACH TIME. THE DEALER SPLICED NEW LINES INTO THE ORIGINAL LINES EACH TIME. *TR
1999 C1500 P/U HIT A VAN NEAR HEAD ON AT 50 MPH. DRIVER'S AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY (PASS. WAS SHUT OFF). TRUCK WAS DEMOLISHED.*AK
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING DRIVER HIT A POTHOLE ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSING VEHICLE TO HYDROPLANE AND HIT A BRIDGE. UPON IMPACT, DUAL AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER HIT HIS HEAD AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE, THERE WAS NO FATALITY.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY IN INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE VEHICLE HYDROPLANED, AND THEN HIT A BRIDGE. UPON IMPACT, THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY. *AK THE CRASH WAS HEAD ON AND THE VEHICLE FLIPPED OVER. IT WAS HIT A SECOND TIME AFTER BECOMING AIRBORNE AND LANDED UPSIDE DOWN. CONSUMER WAS HANGING UPSIDE DOWN UNTIL RESCUE OFFICIALS ARRIVED. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *PH *JB
CONSUMER STATES THAT HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING WHEN THE ACCIDENT OCCURED. WHICH CAUSED $11,000.00 WORTH OF DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE FRONT BUMPER WAS MANGLED AND TORN, THE GRILL WAS PUSHED BACK INTO THE RADIATOR RESULTING IN THE ENGINE BEING TILTED UPWARDS. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER STATES THAT THIS LETTER IS IN SUPPORT OF THE AIR BAG RECALL, AS HE BELIEVES THAT THE QUALITY STANDARDS OF THIS VEHICLE HAD CREATED A SAFETY HAZARD FOR THE OCCUPANTS. *SCC
CONSUMER WAS HIT FROM LEFT SIDE BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. FOR CONSUMER TO AVOID CRASH SHE SWAYED AND RAN INTO A DITCH. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 70 MPH. *AK BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND PROPERLY. *YH
OWNER DROVE APPROXIMATELY 65MPH WHEN RIGHT TIRE LEFT ROAD. OVERCORRECTED TO LEFT & WENT OFF ROAD. VEHICLE WENT AIRBORNE & LANDED IN DITCH, FRONT END FIRST. NEITHER AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AT TIME. VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO FLIP OVER AFTER IMPACT. DRIVER SUFFERED RIGHT KNEE & HIP INJURY. NO SEAT BELTS ON. HAD EMERGENCY TREATMENT. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *AK
Driving 65 miles and I rear ended another vehicle from behind. The air bags did not deployed.
PULLING INTO DRIVEWAY AT MY BROTHER'S HOUSE AND BRAKE LINE RUSTED THROUGH CAUSING MY TO ON THIS DOWNHILL GRADE RUN INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE AT HIS HOUSE. DAMAGED THE BUMPER AND GRILL ON MY TRUCK AND HIS BUMPER AND HOOD OF HIS CAR IN AN OLDS ALERO. REPLACING ALL BRAKE LINES WITH STAINLESS STEEL AND NOT REPAIRING THE DAMAGED PARTS DUE TO GM BEING CHEAP ON SUCH A VITAL PART.
AS I TURNED INTO THE DRIVEWAY, THE BRAKES PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND THE ABS SYSTEM KICKED IN (ON DRY PAVEMENT). VEHICLE WAS NOT STOPPING SO I RAN IT INTO THE FRAME OF THE GARAGE DOOR TO STOP, OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE RAN THROUGH THE GARAGE DOOR. THE SHOP COULD NOT DETERMINE WHY THE ABS LIGHT STAYED ON. BRAKE LINES WERE TOTALLY RUSTED. TRUCK HAS A GOOD ENGINE, BUT TERRIBLE RUST ON BRAKE LINES, FRAME, LOWER BODY PANEL BEHIND DOORS. PAINT PEALING OFF HOOD AND ROOF.
WHILE BRAKING HARD FOR AN ANIMAL IN THE ROADWAY, THE BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED. THE BRAKE PEDAL, WHEN APPLIED SUDDENLY AND HARD, WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE BRAKES WERE INEFFECTIVE AT STOPPING THE VEHICLE. THE ANIMAL WAS STRUCK. AN INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE FRONT TO REAR BRAKE LINE HAD RUSTED AND BURST. FURTHER INSPECTION REVEALED VERY RUSTY BRAKE LINES WHICH APPEAR READY TO FAIL IN MANY LOCATIONS. *JS
