FATAL COLLISION OCCURRED ON 8/20/15 ON SR 126E IN LANE COUNTY, OREGON. VEHICLE DRIFTED OFF ROADWAY AND SUSTAINED FRONTAL IMPACT WITH LARGE TREE RESULTING IN ENGINE FIRE. THIS IS THE THIRD OF THREE CHEV SILVERADOS THAT HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN FRONTAL IMPACTS THIS YEAR THAT HAS RESULTED IN A FIRE
MY FATHER RECENTLY DIED AS A RESULT OF INJURIES SUFFERED IN A ONE VEHICLE ACCIDENT. HE WAS DRIVING HIS 2000 CHEVROLET C1500 PICKUP TRUCK. HE INDICATED THAT THE THROTTLE ON HIS TRUCK STUCK AND HE COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, HE RAN OFF THE ROAD, HIT A TREE TOTALING THE VEHICLE. *TR
From the initial report, the driver was over speed limit. However, the airbags DID NOT deploy that could have potentially saved his life.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. HE WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AFTER 20 SECONDS OF APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE IN THE DRIVEWAY, IT DRAMATICALLY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. SMOKE APPEARED AND THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD, CAUSING HIM TO CRASH INTO THE GARAGE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP UNTIL THE POWER WAS COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT HAS PICTURES. THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 99,000.
My husband just had a wreck last night. His gas pedals got stuck causing him to lose control of the truck and the truck to spend around in the middle of the street. It hit another car and a telephone pole before jumping the curb and landing in a field. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY ON ANY PARTS OF THE TRUCK THAT WAS IMPACTED BY THE WRECK. Both sides of the truck are completely smashed in and both windshields have been busted out. My husband actually came of the windshield of the truck where the Airbag should have deployed.
MY SON FELL ASLEEP WHILE DRIVING AND HIT A TREE AND NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. HE HAD HIS SEATBELT ON HOWEVER I DON'T THINK IT WORKED PROPERLY EITHER DUE TO HIS CHIN HIT THE STEERING WHEEL AND HEAD HIT THE WINDSHIELD. HE PUSHED THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN INTO THE DASH ABOUT 4-5 INCHES AND COULDN'T EVEN MOVE THE SHIFTER ON THE COLUMN. THE TRUCK IS TOTALED AND THERE IS MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE ENTIRE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AS HE HIT THE TREE HEAD ON BUT TOWARD THE PASSENGER SIDE. THIS IS A 2000 CHEVY SILVERADO CREW CAB, 4X4, STEPSIDE
THIS TRUCK HAS HAD ISSUES SINCE I FIRST PURCHASED IT. BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE TRUCK IN A SAFE DISTANCE WHICH ENDED UP WITH ME HAVING AN ACCIDENT WITH IT. THE BRAKE LINE RUSTED OUT AFTER LESS THAN 100,000 MILES AND NEEDED TO REPLACE THEM ALL. NOW WITH 173,000 MILES THE GAS LINES ARE LEAKING AND THE FRAME IS RUSTED SO BAD THAT IT CANNOT BE PUT UP ON A LIFT TO FIX THE BRAKE LINES.
WHILE TRAVELING NORTH ON RTE 3 IN NH I WAS IN TRAFFIC AND A CONSTRUCTION AREA HAD SLOWED TRAVEL ALL THE CARS IN FRONT OF ME SLOWED DOWN AND AS I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AND MY TRUCK WAS SPEWING BRAKE FLUID FROM UNDER THE DRIVERS DOOR. UPON EXAMINATION I CAN SEE ALL BRAKE LINES ARE SEVERELY CORRODED. THE MAN I HIT HAD A BACK INJURY THANK GOD I HAD MY SEATBELT ON! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE DRIVER STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH IN HEAVY WINDS, SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER SEVERAL TIMES AND THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HER HEAD AND STOMACH. THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HEAD, MOUTH AND HAND. ONE OF THE PASSENGERS IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE RECEIVED INJURIES TO THE BACK AND THE OTHER PASSENGERS HEAD AND HANDS WERE INJURED. THE PASSENGER SEATED IN THE MIDDLE SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HER FACE. THE INSURANCE COMPANY CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE BODY SHOP. THE MANUFACTURER INVESTIGATED THE FAILURE, BUT CONCLUDED THAT THEY NEEDED MORE EVIDENCE. I WAS DRIVING MY 2000 CHEVORLET SILVERADO 1500 EXTENDED CAB PICK UP APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND STRUCK THE RIGHT SIDE OF A 20 FT. CATTLE TRAILER THAT WAS BEING PULLED BY ANOTHER TRUCK MAKING A LEFT TURN IN FRONT OF ME. MY TRUCK WAS TOTAL LOSS. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I RECEIVED NECK AND HEAD INJURY, CRACKED RIBS, COMPLEX CONCUSSION AND INJURY TO MY HIP FROM THE ACCIDENT. I WAS WEARING MY SEAT BELT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED.. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING APPROX 25 MPH IN THE RAINY, WET EVENING OF JUNE 15, 2010 AT 10:30 PM TRAVELING EAST ON CR 87 AND TURNING TO GET UP ON THE OVERPASS BRIDGE OF EXIT 234. I STARTED TO HYDROPLANE WHEN I HIT THE GRAVEL, ROCK PART OF THE ROAD AND SKIDDED INTO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BRIDGE HITTING MY PASSENGER TIRE AND BOUNCING ME OUT AND SPINNING AROUND. I TRIED TO COMPENSATE BY APPLYING BRAKES GENTLY AND MY BRAKES LOCKED UP, MY SEAT BELT DID NOT HOLD ME BACK AS I HIT THE STEERING WHEEL WITH MY HEAD AND CHEST. I THEN WAS SPUN HEAD ON INTO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BRIDGE AND SMASHED THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF MY TRUCK. I WAS SO SCARED AND ALL I COULD THINK IS WHEN IS MY AIRBAG GOING TO GO OFF, IT NEVER DID. THERE IS OVER $5000.00 DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE AND IT IS ONLY WORTH $8000.00. I WENT TO THE ER AND SUFFERED MILD CONCUSSION, NECK STRAIN AND BRUISED CHEST. *TR

THE VEHICLE SLID ON THE ICE AND STRUCK THE MEDIAN ON THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE THEN SPUN FROM THE LEFT OF THE HIGHWAY TO THE RIGHT, AND FINALLY CAME TO A STOP WHEN HE WAS ABLE TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. HE EXITED THE VEHICLE AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. NO ONE WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED, ALTHOUGH THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR BACK PAINS AND A SWOLLEN JAW. DRIVING AT 35 MPH I WENT TO STOP FOR A TURNING CAR. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP. TO AVOID AN HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, I VEERED TO THE RIGHT AND WENT INTO A DITCH. AFTER INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE IT WAS NOTED THAT EVERY ONE OF THE BRAKE LINES (SHAPED AS A HOOK) THAT ARE NEAR THE ABS BOX WERE ABNORMALLY CORRODED AND RUSTED THROUGH EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE MADE FROM STAINLESS STEEL. BRAKE FLUID GUSHED OUT WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THIS VEHICLE IS STORED DURING WINTER MONTHS (NOV.-APR) SALT AND SNOW ARE NOT ISSUES. I HAVE A 2001 GMC 4X4 AND INSPECTED THE BRAKE LINES AFTER THE ACCIDENT WITH THE SILVERADO. THOSE BRAKE LINES LOOK FINE.*TR

THESE TIRES ARE SECURED UNDERTHE REAR OF THE TRUCK BY THE SAME TYPE OF CABLE THAT WAS INVOLVED IN THE ON GOING TAIL GATE CABLE RECALL. ALL CHEV AND GMC PICKUPS HAVE THESE DEFECTIVE CABLES HOLDING THE SPARES TIRE AND THEY ALL ARE EVENTUALLY GOING TO FAIL . *TR

THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE WET AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH. ONE PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE SHOULDERS AND CHEST ALONG WITH A SORE NECK. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MAY BE DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED EXTENSIVE FRONT END DAMAGE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 77,000.
MY WIFE AND I WERE INVOLVED IN A NEAR HEAD ON COLLISION ON MAY 6,2007 WHILE DRIVING A 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 EXTENDED CAB PICK UP. THE SPEED AT IMPACT WAS APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH , AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE SEAT BELTS PERFORMED AS DESIGNED. HOWEVER, THE 2 INJURIES COULD HAVE BEEN REDUCED IF THE AIR BAG FAILURE HAD NOT OCCURRED. *AK
