DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF HIS VEHICLE FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND STRUCK AN ONCOMING TRAILER AND ULTIMATELY LOST HIS LIFE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED BUT STILL ON OUR POSSESSION. *TR
THERE WAS A DEATH IN THIS VEHICLE ON A STATE HIGHWAY GA I-20 WB. POLICE REPORTS WERE FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNSALVAGABLE. RECALLS ISSUED ARE DATED AFTER THIS DATE.
TL* THE CONTACT CALLED ON BEHALF OF THE VEHICLE OWNER AND DRIVER HIS MOTHER WHOM PASSED AWAY DUE TO INJURIES SUSTAINED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. HIS MOTHER OWNED A 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT PER THE VEHICLE'S ON-STAR REPORT HIS MOTHER WAS DRIVING AT 41 MPH AT POINT OF IMPACT HOWEVER, THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS DRIFTING IN AND OUT OF THE ON-COMING TRAVEL LANES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POINT OF IMPACT WAS TO THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING FOR THE MANUFACTURE TO RETRIEVE THE EVENT DATA RECORDER (EDR) AND CASE NUMBER 929378 WAS OPENED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER IN THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS IN A COMA, SUSTAINING INJURIES TO THE CHEST AND HEAD. THE DRIVER PASSED AWAY ON IMPACT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT WHERE IT WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V64500 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) RECALL NOTICE WAS RECEIVED SEVERAL MONTHS AFTER THE COLLISION AND INQUIRED IF IT WAS RELATED TO THE COLLISON. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
The contact owned a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that while driving approximately 75 MPH, the driver lost control of the steering and drove off the road, down an embankment, and crashed at the bottom of a steep hill. During the crash, the vehicle was destroyed and severe damage to the front end occurred but the air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained a concussion and head laceration, fractured femur, injured lung, and whiplash. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not contacted. The contact indicated that the air bag system was previously serviced under an unknown NHTSA recall. No additional information was available. The failure mileage was 123,000.
The contact owned a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 45-50 MPH, the contact started feeling sick and lost control of the vehicle and drove off the roadway. It was unclear what the vehicle struck after leaving the roadway. The contact stated that there was major damage to the front bumper and steering arms of the vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy and the seat belt shoulder harness failed to secure the contact in place during the crash. The contact pressed the OnStar button for medical assistance however, the system failed to perform as needed. The contact stated that he struck the steering wheel and broke his nose in two places and also sustained a concussion. Additionally, the contact was in the hospital for three days for surgery due to bleeding on the brain. The doctors also found blood clot in the left arm and right upper thigh. The contact also had a pacemaker installed due to the impact of his chest to the steering wheel. A police report was filed. The insurance provider deemed the vehicle a total loss. The local dealer was contacted and informed of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,100.
On DECEMBER 14th 2021 while traveling on interstate 90 from Hardin Montana to Billings Montana I hit a large granite boulder that had fallen off of a semi, I had my cruise control set where I always set it at 77 mph. The boulder was around 500 lbs and was roughly 30 inches tall by 24 wide. It launched my truck in the air and I flew about 17 to 20 feet before touching down. I impacted the boulder just to the right of center of the bumper and it tore everything from the bumper to the firewall. Extremely violent impact and I hit my head on the sun visor and chin on the steering wheel. Not one of the airbags deployed. The first person on scene was Montana Highway Dept employee who was one minute behind me. He and myself as well as the responding highway patrol were shocked that the airbags did not deploy. Since that accident I have had multiple things wrong with my neck my knees as well as my hips and back. Im pretty sure Im messed up for life.

THE CONSUMER STATED DUE TO THE AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING, THE DRIVERS HEAD STRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DRIVER WAS KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS AND SUSTAINED A CONTUSION AND BRUSING ON THE FOREHEAD. THE VEHICLE HAD FRONT-END DAMAGE AND THE FRAME WAS BENT. THE CONSUMER WAS UNSURE IF THE AIRBAG RECALL REPAIR WAS COMPLETED. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE VEHICLES REPAIRS, RENTAL CAR, INSURANCE DEDUCTIBLE AND OTHER DAMAGES.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED AT THIS TIME. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY AND THE DEALER FOR THE REPAIRS OF UNKNOWN RECALLS AND THE LOSS OF STEERING FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,300.

THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVING AROUND A CURVE AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WHEN THE STEERING LOCKED. THE DRIVER IS UNCLEAR IF THE BREAKS WORKED OR NOT, BUT HE ENDED UP STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL ACCIDENTALLY. HE HIT A TREE HEAD ON AND TOTALED THE TRUCK. HE NOTICED THE AUDIO SYSTEM LOST THE SIGNAL FROM HIS IPHONE AND BEGAN PLAYING THE LOCAL RADIO STATION AT THE SAME TIME. THE IPHONE WAS CONNECTED VIA AN AUXILIARY CORD. THE DRIVER IS FAMILIAR WITH A LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND IS QUITE SURE THE STEERING LOCKED AND WAS UNABLE TO BE MOVED EVEN WITH CONSIDERABLE EFFORT. THE DRIVER WAS TAKEN TO A HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE AND IS LUCKY TO HAVE ONLY MINOR INJURIES. PRIOR TO THIS, RECALL #17276 WAS COMPLETED ON THE TRUCK, BUT AFTER THAT IT DID HAVE AN ELECTRICAL INCIDENT WHERE ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WENT HAYWIRE, BLINKING & BEEPING & TURNING ON & OFF, THEN EVERYTHING WENT DEAD, INCLUDING THE STEERING. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO REPLACED THE BATTERY & FOUND NO OTHER PROBLEMS. WE KEPT THE BATTERY THEY REPLACED, HAD IT TESTED & IT WAS FOUND TO BE FINE. THE DEALERSHIP REFUNDED THE COST OF THE NEW BATTERY, BUT OFFERED NO SOLUTION TO THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.
"TAKATA RECALL" DRIVING ON N LOOP 820. VEHICLE DRIVING AHEAD OF ME BEGAN TO SWERVE, AND I AVOIDED THE CAR. ROADS WERE MODERATELY WET--I WAS TRAVELLING AROUND 40 MPH DUE TO POSSIBLE ICE ON OVERPASS. I WAS IN EXTREME LEFT LANE, BEGAN TO SLIDE AND TURNED INTO THE DIRECTION I SKIDDED AND MADE CONTACT WITH CENTER MEDIAN OF HIGHWAY. NEXT EXIT WAS CAMPUS DRIVE. THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE SENSOR WAS ILLUMINATED. I CALLED 911 AND POLICE VEHICLE ARRIVED AN HOUR LATER. THE TRUCK WAS IN THE MOST EXTREME LEFT HAND LANE BLOCKING DRIVERS BEHIND ME. THE SENSOR REMAINED ON, BUT THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. WAS TOWED TO BRUCE LOWRIE CHEVROLET.

ON MARCH 20, 2016, MY RIGHT FRONT TIRE WENT OFF OF THE SHOULDER OF THE PAVEMENT AND I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I SLAMMED INTO A BRICK MAILBOX AT A SPEED OF 45 MPH THUS CAUSING THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY. I SUSTAINED AN APPROXIMATE 3 INCH LONG GASH ON MY FOREHEAD FROM THE AIRBAG.
THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH RESULTING IN SERIOUS INJURY TO THE DRIVER AND SIGNIFICANT, IRREPARABLE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE RESULTING IN A TOTAL LOSS. The bus is always parked on the road, my phone slid off the console, when I reached for it, I accidentally moved the truck to the right, and before I hit the bus, I did not have enough time to correct my mistake. I have forgotten everything that occurred from Saturday the 18th up until Friday the 24th. I kept massive migraines the entire week. Now I just have some headaches. The part that scared me the most, is when I realized, not one single air bag deployed. I personally, am so thankful I was able walk away from it. I will never buy another Chevy Silverado.
