Airbags for the steering wheel did not deploy.
2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. CONSUMER STATES HIS WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY *TGW
VEHICLE WAS STRUCK BY A MOTORCYCLE TRAVELING AROUND 50MPH IN THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT TIRE. THIS IS A 4 WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS ONLY A 50CC MODEL SMALL MOTORCYCLE. THIS RESULTED IN THE SPINDLE BREAKING IN TWO AT THE POINT JUST BEHIND WHERE THE TIE ROD END CONNECTS RESULTING IN A LOSS OF STEERING ON THAT WHEEL. LUCKILY THE SILVERADO WAS ONLY TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT AND WAS SAFELY STOPPED IN A SHORT DISTANCE. THIS IS A HEAVY DUTY PART AND SHOULD NOT HAVE BROKEN. I was driving on the road. The road naturally turned to the left, and when I turned the steering wheel, the truck did not turn. I hit three parked cars. The steering column steering shaft disconnected from the back of the steering wheel. There was no warning signs prior to the accident. I contacted GM. They sent out a adjuster. And denied my claim but did not give me a reason why. My safety was at risk because I lost my steering. The steering wheel turned but the steering shaft became disconnected from the back of the steering wheel and there was no steering. This is a huge safety concern. If this happens to other people. Some one will get killed. I have pictures of the defective part.

THE CONTACT DID NOT INFORM THE DEALER OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT TRIED INFORMING THE MANUFACTURER BUT WAS PUT ON HOLD AND HUNG UP AFTER BEING PLACED ON HOLD FOR TOO LONG. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 72 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER'S TIRE EXPERIENCED A BLOWOUT. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AS IT RAN OFF THE ROADWAY AND CRASHED INTO A DITCH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL AND THE FRONT BUMPER WERE DAMAGED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE TIRE WAS NOT REPLACED. THE TIRE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 172,000 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.
TAKATA RECALL - BEEN WAITING 4 MONTHS FOR PARTS AT THE DEALER AND I LIVE IN A HIGH HEAT - HIGH HUMIDITY AREA. WAS IN AN ACCIDENT IN NOVEMBER 2010 AND LUCKILY THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY.

I HAVE A 2009 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 CREW 4X4. I RECENTLY HAD COLLISION BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. I COLLIDED WITH A TOYOTA CAMRY BACKING OUT OF A SPACE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE AISLE. WE BASICALLY HIT REAR CORNER TO REAR CORNER. MY COMPLAINT IS THE EXTENT OF DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK ON SUCH A LOW SPEED COLLISION. VISUAL DAMAGE: RIGHT BUMPER END (3 PIECE OUTER BUMPER) IS BENT IN AND UP SLIGHTLY. THE END SECTIONS WILL BE DESTROYED IN EVEN A LOW SPEED IMPACT. THE KILLER IS THE DAMAGE TO THE SIDE BED PANELS. BECAUSE THE REAR OF PANEL IS A SINGLE WALL OF SHEET METAL, UN REINFORCED, IT BUCKLES LIKE FABRIC AT EVEN THE LIGHTEST TOUCH. YOU COULD BEND IT IN BY HAND IF YOU PUSH HARD ENOUGH. SINCE THERE IS NO WAY TO PULL OUT THIS PANEL DUE TO ITS UN REINFORCED SHEET METAL DESIGN, THE MOST COST EFFECTIVE REPAIR IS TO REPLACE THE WHOLE PANEL. THEY SELL THE TRUCK CHEAP! THEY MAKE A FORTUNE ON REPLACEMENT PARTS BECAUSE OF THE CHEAP DESIGN QUALITY. WORD TO THE WISE: GET THE REAR BACKING SENSORS! IT WILL SAVE YOU $3000. IT WOULDN'T HELP IN MY CASE AS I STILL HAD ANOTHER MOVING VEHICLE. NO FAULT COLLISION. *TR
AFTER PARKING MY TRUCK IN DRIVEWAY. I CAME OUT THE NEXT MORNING TO FIND MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS UP AND THE TRUCK DEAD. THE ONLY LIGHT THAT WOULD COME ON WAS THE ENGINE LIGHT. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION, THE FUSE BOX HAD MELTED AND CAUGHT ON FIRE. I FEEL THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I DO NOT SEE A RECALL ON GENERAL MOTORS WEBSITE.
THE TRUCK WAS SITTING PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY AND MY NEIGHBOR NOTICED THAT THE LIGHTS AND WIPERS CAME ON (TRUCK WAS NOT ON, NO KEYS WERE IN IT, NOBODY WAS IN IT OR NEAR IT!). SMOKE THEN BEGAN TO BILLOW OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND A FIRE STARTED. MY NEIGHBOR WAS ABLE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO A GARAGE WHERE THEY TOLD ME THAT THE FUSE PANEL CAUGHT ON FIRE. THEY CALLED GM AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE PART. DEALING WITH INSURANCE NOW.
TRUCK HAD BEEN SITTING OVERNIGHT. WOKE UP TO 3RD BRAKE LIGHT ON. OPENED CAB DOOR, SMELLED LIKE SMOKE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, WOULD NOT TURN OVER. POP HOOD AND THE FUSE BOX AND WIRING HARNESS HAD BEEN ON FIRE, WERE COMPLETELY MELTED. INSURANCE COMPANY WON'T COVER BECAUSE THERE WAS NOT SUBSTANTIAL PROOF OF FIRE, AND COULD NOT FIND SOURCE. FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH GM AFTER THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US THE WIRING HARNESS HAD BEEN DISCONTINUED (ON A 7 YEAR OLD TRUCK). GM WON'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY CANNOT FIND THE SOURCE, AND THEY HAVE YET TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THEY DISCONTINUED A PART. WE HAVE NO WAY OF FIXING THIS TRUCK.
MY 2009 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WAS PARKED FOR TWO DAYS. IT WAS RUNNING PERFECTLY UP UNTIL IT WAS PARKED..AFTER TWO DAYS OF BEING PARKED IN THE RAIN,THE REAR TAIL LIGHT SUDDENLY WENT ON BY ITSELF. I OPENED THE DOOR TO THE VEHICLE TO SEE HOW THIS COULD HAPPEN AND THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT WAS ON. I PUT THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION AND IT WAS TOTALLY DEAD. I OPENED THE HOOD AND LIFTED OFF THE FUSE PANEL COVER,BECAUSE THERE WAS A STRONG SMELL OF BURNING. THEN,THERE WAS SMOKE. I IMMEDIATELY DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALER. AFTER PICKING IT UP TODAY,THEY CHARGED ME $1555 TO REPAIR,YET COULD NOT PROVIDE A LOGICAL REASON WHY THIS HAPPENED! THEY SAID"CORROSION" IN THE FUSE PANEL. HOW COULD A VEHICLE MADE IN 2009 WITH 72,000 MILES HAVE A PROBLEM SUCH AS THIS WITHOUT A MAJOR ISSUE BEING WRONG? I FEAR FOR OTHER'S SAFETY,AS I BELIEVE THERE IS A SERIOUS ISSUE GOING ON. PER MY RESEARCH,THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN THAT EXPLAINS THE PROBLEM. PIT-5090. THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH WATER BEING ALLOWED TO ENTER THE FUSE PANEL BOX DUE TO POOR DESIGN AND THE POOR INSTALLATION FROM THE FACTORY OF A RUBBER SEAL. VERY SERIOUS ISSUE! PLEASE INVESTIGATE!!! TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 CREW CAB. HE STATED THE PASSENGER'S SIDE POWER DOOR LOCKS FAILED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE LOCK ACTUATOR UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. LATER, HE COULD SMELL A BURNING SMELL, SIMILAR TO BURNING PLASTIC, FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE BUT COULD NOT DETERMINE THE SOURCE. ON A LATER DATE, WHILE GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED A TWO INCH BURN HOLE NEAR THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HANDLE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED REPLACING THE DOOR HANDLE. THE DEALER COULD NOT PROVIDE A REASON AS TO WHY THE BURN HOLE WAS ON THE DOOR. THE DEALER FOUND THERE WERE WIRES THAT FAILED AND OVERHEATED, CAUSING THE DAMAGE TO THE DOOR. REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE DOOR AND THE LOCK ACTUATOR WAS REPLACED A SECOND TIME, UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 13,310.
VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE AFTER BEING PARKED FOR 2.5 OR SO HOURS IN DRIVEWAY. DETERMINED BY FIRE MARSHALL TO HAVE STARTED FROM A ECM IN RIGHT FRONT DASH AREA. FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED AND EXTINGUISHED FIRE WITH WATER INSTEAD OF FOAM BECAUSE "FOAM TANK WAS NOT OPERATIONAL AT THAT TIME". NO REPAIRS HAVE YET BEEN MADE TO THE VEHICLE DUE TO OUTSTANDING INSURANCE INVESTIGATION. *TR

After receiving notification of the recall, while driving approximately 35 MPH, the passenger’s side air bag unexpectedly deployed, damaging the dashboard and fracturing the window. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 146,000.
Driver and passenger side extended cab doors metal is cracking horizontally near the front edge of the doors.
The front drivers headlight low beam keeps going out. I just received my second warning for this failure. It got dark before I got home from the store. We took it to a friend who does mechanical work back in the spring. He fixed it; but now it’s doing it again. Yes we had it inspected last November for tag renewal. There are no warning lights or signals that come on.i think it started acting up around November 2024
