MY 7 YEAR-OLD SON WAS KILLED ON 12/21/02 BECAUSE MY 2000 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WENT INTO GEAR WITH OUT STEPPING ON THE BREAK. THE VAN ROLLED DOWN A DRIVEWAY AND MY SON HAD HIS HEAD OUT THE WINDOW AND HE HIT A TREE AND WAS KILLED. GRANTED I AM PARTIALLY AT FAULT FOR LEAVING CHILDREN UNATTENDED FOR LESS THAN 2 MINUTES BUT THE VAN SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO GO OUT OF GEAR WITH OUT STEPPING ON THE BREAK. THIS IS NOT A FAMILY SAFE VEHICLE. I KNOW FOR A FACT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON THAT HAS RAN INSIDE BECAUSE THEY FORGOT SOMETHING AND THE CHILDREN WERE LEFT IN THE VEHICLE. I JUST WANT DODGE TO BE MADE TO PUT THE SAFETY DEVICE ON THEIR VEHICLES SO NO OTHER CHILDREN ARE NOT HURT OR KILLED. THE 2003 DODGE NEON ARE ALSO THE SAME WAY. INSERT THE KEY ONLY AND THE CAR WILL SHIFT THRU ALL THE GEARS THANKS JILL
POWER STEERING FAILED, THEN BRAKES. SERPENTINE BELT WET FROM RAIN CAUSED POWER STEERING & BRAKES TO FAIL RESULTING IN VEHICLE FLIPPING ON ITS SIDE ON I-75. SERVICE DEPT SAID THAT THE POWER STEERING, ETC WAS DESIGNED TO SHUT DOWN WHEN BELT GOT WET. THIS WAS A NORMAL RAIN. VEHICLE WAS NOT IN HIGH WATER. VEHICLE WAS ULTIMATELY TOTALED. *TR
I WAS IN THE CAR LINE AT MY DAUGHTER'S SCHOOL. A CAR REAR ENDED HIT MY 2000 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN GOING 15-30 MPH. I WAS STOPPED. MY DAUGHTER'S SEAT (PASSENGER CAPTAINS CHAIR-2ND ROW) WAS LAID COMPLETELY BACK UPON IMPACT. SHE WAS UPRIGHT PRIOR TO THE CRASH. IF SOMEONE HAD BEEN SITTING BEHIND HER THEN THEY COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED OR KILLED. ALSO, THE DRIVER'S SEAT LEVER TO ADJUST THE ANGLE OF THE SEAT BROKE AS WELL. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET THERE HAVE BEEN SERIOUS DEATH AND INJURY IN DODGE GRAND CARAVAN AS A RESULT OF SEATS BREAKING DURING REAR END COLLISIONS. *TR

CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL 04V480000 CONCERNING AIR BAG CLOCK SPRING FAILURE FROM THE MANUFACTURER. HOWEVER, 1 YEAR AGO VEHICLE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. ALSO, UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.*AK
MY WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON A 4 LANE ROAD AND WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 40-45 MPH WHEN SHE HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE WITH ALMOST NO BRAKING INVOLVED. NEITHER THE DRIVE OR PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THIS WAS A MAJOR SELLING POINT WHEN WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE SINCE WE WOULD BE USING IT TO TRANSPORT OUR FAMILY. IF THESE DO NOT WORK THEN THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION SHOULD DO EVERYTHING TO THE BEST OF IT'S ABILITY TO ENSURE THAT ANYONE THAT BUYS THEIR PRODUCTS SHOULD GET WHAT THEY HAVE PAID FOR. *JB
THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION WHILE OPERATING A MODIFIED VEHICLE FOR THE DISABLED. THE CONSUMER STATED THE HAND BRAKE LEVER FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE WHEN APPLIED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS.*AK *PH *JB
MY GRAND CARAVAN WAS HIT FROM BEHIND WITH SUCH FORCE THE REAR OF THE VAN LIFTED OFF THE GROUND. AT IMPACT MY DRIVERS SEAT BROKE, RECLINING ME, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO REACH THE BRAKES TO STOP MY VAN. I HIT THE CENTER MEDIAN (FAST LANE) WITH THE LEFT FRONT FENDER, BLOWING THE TIRE AND BREAKING AXLE THE VAN THEN BOUNCED ACROSS LANES HITTING BRIDGE RAILING AND CEMENT WALL WITH RIGHT FRONT FENDER BLOWING THAT TIRE AND THEN BACK TO THE MEDIAN (FAST LANE), AND CAME TO A STOP AGAINST THE MEDIAN. I WAS TOLD BY THE INSURANCE INVESTAGATOR MY CARAVAN WAS BEYOND REPAIR DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE.*AK

STRUT TOWERS ON MY 2000 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN HAVE RUSTED THROUGH. VISIBLE, SIGNIFICANT RUST HAS BEEN PRESENT FOR AT LEAST 7 YEARS, HOWEVER, IT IS NOW NOT DRIVEABLE. I DID NOT REALIZE THIS IS SUCH A BROADSCALE, SIGNIFICANT PROBLEM TO MOST OWNERS OF 1996-2000 VANS. PLEASE RECALL THIS MESS! STRUT TOWERS ARE NOT COSMETIC!
ANTI LOCK BRAKES WOULDN'T TURN ON, AS A RESULT I GOT INTO A FENDER BENDER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED ON JANUARY 28, 2007 WHILE IDLE AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE VEHICLE REPAIR WAS PAID FOR WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLY BECAUSE IT WAS UNDER A SAFETY RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WILL NOT REIMBURSE THE CONTACT BECAUSE THE CRASH CAUSED THE CLOCKSPRING TO FAIL. THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY WILL NOT REIMBURSE THE CONTACT BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER WILL NOT PROVIDE A LETTER STATING THAT THE CRASH CAUSED THE CLOCKSPRING TO FAIL, NOT THE SAFETY RECALL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE NEVER RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 118,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000. THE FAILURE OF THE CLOCKSPRING CAUSED THE HORN AND CRUISE CONTROL NOT TO WORK. UPDATED 06/15/07.*JB
2000 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SE HAS NO SHIFT LOCK. 2 YEAR OLD CHILD WAS ABLE TO SHIFT TRANSMISSION FROM PARK TO DRIVE WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. $1800 DAMAGE TO CARAVAN AND $2300 TO ANOTHER CUSTOMIZED VAN; ALL IN THE EXPANSE OF 50 FEET AND 1 MINUTE IN A FLAT AND LEVEL PRIVATE SCHOOL PARKING LOT. *NM
WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CONSUMER HIT A DEER. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. HOWEVER, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER REGARDING THE CLOCK SPRING. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *JB
I STARTED MY 2000 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN AND TURNED ON THE AIR CONDITIONER. I OPENED THE DOORS TO LET THE HEAT OUT AND MY 2 1/2 YEAR OLD SON REACHED INTO THE FRONT SEAT AND PULLED THE SHIFTER INTO DRIVE. THE VAN SHIFTER SHIFTED WITHOUT PUSHING THE BRAKE AND THE VAN RAN INTO MY CHAIN-LINK FENCE. THIS IS A SAETY ISSUE AND I DO NOT THINK IT WAS RECALLED. IF IT DOES NOT GET RECALLED THEN I WILL TRADE IN MY VEHICLE FOR A MORE SAFE ONE. *AK
1ST INCIDENT: JOHN ELWAY DODGE SERVICE ON 12/27/2000 FOR FINAL INSPECTION FROM THE SALE. ASKED TO CHECK RATTLE IN THE FRONT RIGHT DASH AND THE BRAKES, WHICH ACTED SOFT. NO PAPERWORK WAS GIVEN. 2ND TIME OCCURRED 11/13/2001: THE BRAKE PROBLEMS REPORTED TO JOHN ELWAY DODGE SERVICE, UNABLE TO GET IN BEFORE 2+ WEEKS. BROUGHT TO CHRISTOPHER'S DODGE WORLD, INC. 16655 W. COLFAX AVE. GOLDEN, CO 80401 303-238-7311. STATED THAT THE BRAKES FAILED WHEN TRIED TO STOP (PETAL FELT LIKE IT WENT TO THE FLOOR, BUT YET THE VAN DID NOT STOP.) ALSO COMPLAINED ABOUT THE RATTLE IN THE DASH AND ENGINE VIBRATION AT IDLE. INVOICE #24497 WHICH STATES EACH COMPLAINT AND THE FINDINGS A) ENGINE VIBRATION - UNABLE TO DUPLICATE CUSTOMERS COMPLAINT. B) RATTLE NOISE IN R/DASH - CAUSE: REPLACED BELT AND TENSIONER AND REPOSITIONED FUEL LINES. C) BRAKES - CLEAN, INSPECT, AND ADJUST REAR BRAKES. D) THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE SERVICED- BUT MY WIFE DECLINED. THE BILL WAS $62.00 AND THE MILEAGE WAS 13362. THE 3RD TIME @ A WEEK PRIOR TO 1/10/2002. COMPLAINED THE BRAKES WHEN DRIVING ON DRY GROUND WILL ACT AS IF THE ABS IS WORKING, THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO HAVE A SOFT PETAL AND NOT STOP THE VEHICLE PROPERLY. FINDINGS: A) TRANSMISSION - NOT DUE FOR SERVICE UNTIL 40K (FLUID CONFIRMED BY SERVICE MANAGER AT MY WIFE'S REQUEST DUE TO LAST SERVICE AT CHRISTOPHER' DODGE.) B) BRAKES- FOUND TO BE OPERATING NORMAL. MILEAGE WAS 15747. THE FOURTH TIME JUNE 2002- PUSHED ON BRAKES BUT WENT THROUGH STOP SIGN. THE 5TH TIME 7/1/02 UNDER 15 MPH PRESSED ON BRAKES, FOOT FELT LIKE IT WENT TO THE FLOOR NOT STOPPING, PUMPED BRAKES TWICE THEN PUSHED AGAIN FELT LIKE FOOT TO THE FLOOR HIT FROM BEHIND. DRIVER STATED THAT THE BRAKE LITE FLICKERED ONCE, VAN STILL GOING THEN BRAKE LITE ON WHEN HIT. NO DAMAGE, NO MAJOR INJURIES (WIFE'S RIGHT COLLAR BONE RED) 2 TODDLERS AND 2 ADULTS IN VAN. CALLED JOHN ELWAY- VAN IN NEXT DAY. MILES 22772. FINDINGS: COULD NOT VERIFY CONCERN AT THIS TIME. CHRYSLER INSPECTS SAME FINDINGS. VAN AT JOHN ELWAY.*
