MY VEHICLE WAS PUT IN PARK AND ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER IT JOLTED BACKWARDS AND HIT A RETAINING WALL IN THE DRIVEWAY.

2009 DODGE CARAVAN MODIFIED BY THE BRAUN CORPORATION TO INCLUDE A MANUAL RAMP FOR WHEELCHAIR PASSENGERS WAS TRAVELING ON A 2 LANE ICY BRIDGE AND WAS UNABLE TO STOP FOR A 1997 CHEVY TRUCK THAT HAD ALREADY SLID OUT ON THE BRIDGE AND WAS LEFT SITTING ACROSS BOTH LANES. THE DODGE CARAVAN HIT THE VEHICLE HEAD ON WITH SUCH FORCE THAT THE DRIVER HAD THE PARTS FROM AN ARTIFICIAL HIP COME OUT. Parked vehicle and put gear in park.Vehicle rolled down hill through chain link fence and did front end damage. No person was inside vehicle at time it rolled off.

THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AFTER I HIT A BUMP DURING A TURN, I RAN INTO A DITCH AND SOMETHING IS BROKE ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. LOUD NOISES COMING FROM TIRE AREA. I HAVE ALREADY HAD THIS HAPPEN MULTIPLE TIMES AND REPLACED THE BEARING. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON AN INCLINE, FACING UP, AND PUT IN PARK. THE DRIVER EXITED THE VEHICLE AND THEN REACHED BACK IN TO TURN OFF AND REMOVE THE KEYS. THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL BACK DOWN THE DRIVE, HITTING TWO OTHER VEHICLES BEFORE THE DRIVER, WHO WAS HIT BY THE OPEN DOOR, COULD GET BACK IN THE VEHICLE AND APPLY THE BRAKES. IT IS UNKNOWN WHY THE KEYS WOULD HAVE COME OUT IF THE CAR WAS NOT IN PARK, OR WHY THE CAR WOULD SWITCH FROM PARK TO REVERSE WITHOUT THE KEYS IN OR A FOOT ON THE BRAKE. *TR
The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked at his residence, a fire started from the drivers side tail light. The tail light, the rear bumper, and part of the rear seat were melted, additionally the rear windshield shattered. The fire department was called and they extinguished the fire using chemical powder and water. The fire marshal wrote an incident report. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact did not take the vehicle to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.

DRIVING ON THE HWY 485 TOWARD AIRPORT WHEN I HEARD A SUDDEN SOUND IN MY DASHBOARD. IT WAS A ETC (ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT) AND THE ESC (ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT) THAT CAME OUT AND, MY TEMPERATURE CONTROL GAUGE NEEDLE DROPPED FROM MI-RANGE TO ZERO. I SLOW DOWN THE CAR PULLED IT ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY SO I CAN CHECK TO SEE WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND THE NEXT THING I KNOW WAS A HEAVY SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE HOOD AND THAT WAS IT.

AFTER INSPECTION, HE NOTICED THAT THE HEATER HAD FRACTURED AND WAS CAUSING WATER TO LEAK ONTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE PART TO THE DEALER WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE HEATER HOSE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 73,866.
225/65 R 16 100 My van is available for inspection; the left front driver’s-side tire was repaired (under warranty) on 6 August 2022; a plug was installed to repair a ticking sound, which ended up being a nail imbedded in the tire. Once on the road again, I still heard an annoying sound( I realized the mechanic may not have cut the plug flush). I intended to go back to have them cut it off, but forgot due to my recent part-time work activities & starting College at night.(as well as getting Covid on 28 September 2022. I was scheduled to work at Davanni’s on 21 October 2022. I got into work around 12:33. I use an App on my phone to deliver pizza’ & hoagies. I took a large order around 15:30. I was nervous driving, because my van(previously reported on this site)was having the electrical issues, even when I put my vehicle in park. I messaged my customer when I was 2-3 minutes away(I was extra cautious because my signals wouldn’t show drivers behind me that I was turning, so my 1st text would usually be at a semi-fore, then when I park in driveway, I send a text I am there. The customer had a pretty high incline when I parked. After sending the text I proceeded to exit my vehicle. (my phone was in my right hand). I stepped out with my left foot, then the right; I was fully standing when all of a sudden I felt my door pushing on my left side, I braced my left arm, looked down & noticed the van was rolling back. I felt the tire start to hit my toe then instantly brought my right foot up to step on the brake. In doing so I had my right buttocks wedged against my seat base. I slammed my elbow & ribs onto the threshold of the door and my right arm/pit against the seat. I looked up by the steering wheel where the shift stick is, & realized it was down. I reached up with my left arm & pushed up 2- notches, couldn’t reach park. I texted the person that I need help. He came out swiftly, put it in park & help me arise from my wedged position. I went to ER next day
WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH ALL THE SEATBELTS IN OUR DODGE MINIVAN PRIOR TO THE DATE OF THIS INCIDENT BUT UNTIL NOW WE HAD ONLY SEEN THEM AS AGGRAVATIONS. THE SEATBELTS TEND TO TIGHTEN SLIGHTLY AND WHEN TRYING TO LOOSEN THEM THEY WILL LOCK UP AND HAVE TO BE UNBUCKLED TO RESET THEM. SOMETIMES THEY WILL STILL REMAIN LOCKED UP EVEN WHEN THE SEATBELT IS UNBUCKLED. SOMETIMES JERKING THE BELT SEVERAL TIMES WILL FINALLY RELEASE IT. ON AUGUST 19, 2011, OUR 10 YEAR OLD CHILD GOT CAUGHT IN THIS FAULTY SEATBELT. ON A LONG OUT OF TOWN TRIP, THE CROSS BELT WAS BEHIND THE HEADREST AND THE LAP BELT HAD BECOME TIGHTENED. AS HE STRUGGLED WITH THE SEATBELT, IT GOT TIGHTER. ALL THIS WAS DURING TRANSIT. WE STOPPED AND HE UNBUCKLED THE SEATBELT BUT THAT ONLY MADE IT TIGHTER. HE IS A THIN BOY BUT IT WAS OBVIOUS HE HAD HIS GUT SUCKED IN AND THE BELT WAS PUSHING UNDER HIS RIBS. THE CAR WAS PARKED AND SHUT OFF. WE STRUGGLED WITH IT A FEW MINUTES TRYING TO GET IT TO RELEASE BUT IT WAS APPARENT OUR CHILD WAS IN DISTRESS. WE WERE JUST ABOUT TO CUT THE BELT WHEN WE DECIDED TO LAY THE SEAT AS FAR BACK AS POSSIBLE AND HAD OUR CHILD DO A SOMERSAULT OUT OF THE LAP BELT. OUR CHILD HAD BRUISES ON HIS STOMACH AND SIDE AND WAS SHAKEN UP AND SORE. WHAT WOULD BE THE OUTCOME IF HE HAD BEEN TRAPPED DURING A CAR ACCIDENT/FIRE? *TR
Car will crank but not start. Can cannot be started intermittently which could be dangerous considering location of vehicle, adverse weather conditions, etc. There are no warning lamps or messages related to the problem. This is a known problem with other Chrysler models and model years. TIMP fuel pump relay has failed. Bypassing the fuel pump relay will allow car to start.
