Was hit in the side and in my Dodge minivan the side curtain airbags never deployed. The van was a total loss so was the car that hit me and his airbag did deploy. I did injure my lower back and shoulder.
The contact owned a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed however, the brakes failed to operate causing the vehicle to rear-end another vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The passenger-side airbag deployed upon impact; however, the driver’s side air bag failed to deploy causing the contact to impact the steering wheel. The contact was taken from the scene to a hospital and was treated for bruising to both knees and head. No other injuries were reported from the accident. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was deemed a total loss. A VIN search showed there were two open recalls on the vehicle; NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V234000 (Electrical System) and 20V396000 (Air Bags, Steering). The dealer nor the manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was approximately 220,000.
GOING ROUGHLY 55/60 MPH A DEER HIT MY DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VAN, TOTALLY MY VAN. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND WHEN LOOKING AT THE DAMAGE TO MY VAN I WAS TOLD THAT MY AIR BAGS SHOULD OF DEPLOYED. THE DAMAGE TO MY VAN WAS CONSIDERED A "TOTAL LOSS" AS WELL AS I WENT THROUGH MASSAGE THERAPY AND CHIROPRACTIC CARE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH DURING RAIN WEATHER CONDITIONS, THERE WAS A OBJECT ON THE ROAD THAT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SWERVE INTO THE NEXT TRAFFIC LANE AND CRASH. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO CRASH INTO A POLE AND CAME TO A STOP WHEN IT ROLLED OVER. THE CONTACT SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE HEAD, THE BACK, THE KNEES, AND THE HANDS THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A STORAGE FACILITY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH TURNED FROM THE START POSITION WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A WALL. THE DRIVER SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE RIGHT ARM AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE BACK AND RIGHT ARM. THE PASSENGER IN THE REAR SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE NOSE. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS RECEIVED. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PART FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,902.
2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN DANGEROUS DRIVER SIDE AIR BAGS. *MW THE CONSUMER AND HIS WIFE WERE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. WHEN THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, HIS WIFE WAS INJURED. THE CONSUMER STATED HIS WIFE WAS HIT BY THE AIR BAG WITH SUCH FORCE, IT KNOCKED HER UNCONSCIOUS FOR 20 MINUTES OR MORE. THE DODGE INSIGNIA FROM THE CENTER OF THE STEERING WHEEL WAS PERMANENTLY IMPRINTED ON HER STOMACH. HIS WIFE ALSO SUFFERED FROM INCREASING NERVE DAMAGE FROM SPINAL INJURES CAUSED BY THE AIR BAG. *JB
MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING OUR FAMILY HOME AND SOME ONE LOST CONTROL OF THEIR VEHICLE AND OUR CARAVAN HIT THEM HEAD ON. THE WHOLE FRONT OF VAN WAS AFFECTED AND IT WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. NONE OF AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND THE PASSENGER REAR BUCKET SEAT BELT FAILED AND MY 5 YEAR-OLD'S CARSEAT FLEW INTO THE PASSENGER SEAT AND CONSOLE. HIS NECK AND LEG WERE INJURED AND HE WAS TAKEN TO LOCAL ER BY AMBULANCE. I WAS THE PASSENGER AND MY NECK HAS BEEN SEVERELY INJURED. I FEEL IF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED MY NECK MAY NOT BE AS BAD. I WAS HORRIFIED WHEN I SAW MY SONS CARSEAT NOT IN THE SEAT. THIS VAN OBVIOUSLY HAS SAFETY ISSUES. *TR
2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WITH ONE PASSENGER (DRIVER) WAS HIT BY A DRIVER RUNNING A RED LIGHT AT ~ 50MPH. THE COLLISION OCCURED AT THE FRONT RIGHT (PASSENGER) SIDE OF THE GRAND CARAVAN. THE COLLISION WAS SEVERE AND THE VAN WAS TOTALED OUT AS A RESULT OF THIS ACCIDENT. ALTHOUGH THE ACCIDENT WAS A SIDE IMPACT NONE OF THE SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, ONLY THE FRONT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER OF THE VAN SUFFERED HEAD INJURIES DUE TO CONTACT WITH THE SIDE WINDOW OF THE VAN DURING THE CRASH. *TR
ON 3/29/2013 MY DAUGHTER AND HER FIANCE WERE USING MY VAN, FIANCE WAS THE DRIVER. HE HIT A 200+LB ROCK THAT WAS PARTIALLY IN THE ROAD. THIS SENT HIM OFF THE ROAD WHERE HE HIT A PARTIALLY BURIED ROCK WALL FROM THE 1600'S, THIS SENT THEM AIRBORNE SCRAPING SOME TREES ALONG THE WAY. THEY LANDED ABOUT 20 FEET AWAY, NOSE DOWN INTO ANOTHER SECTION OF ROCK WALL, ALSO BURIED. THIS LAUNCHED THEM FURTHER UP THE EMBANKMENT CAUSING IT TO BE LODGED ON A STUMP. THERE WAS OVER 8,000 IN DAMAGE, THE FRONT BUMPER WAS ALL MESSED UP. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. ONLY ONE SEATBELT LOCKED CAUSING INJURY TO MY DAUGHTER WHEN HER FACE SLAMMED OFF OF THE TOP GLOVE BOX, NOT ONCE, BUT TWICE. I HAVE SERIOUS CONCERNS ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE SMALL GRANDCHILDREN THAT RIDE IN MY VAN ON A REGULAR BASIS. I HAVE VOICED MY CONCERNS TO MY INSURANCE CLAIM REP, THE ADJUSTER, THE BODY SHOP, MY DEALERSHIP AND DODGE ITSELF. ALL I'M LOOKING FOR IS A STRAIGHT ANSWER ON WHY THIS HAPPENED. IF THE AIRBAGS SHOULDN'T HAVE DEPLOYED BECAUSE OF THE TYPE OF ACCIDENT, OK, TELL ME WHY, BUT THAT SEATBELT FAILURE, THAT'S A MAJOR DEAL. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A TRUCK HEAD ON. THE FRONT DRIVER'S AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE NECK AND BACK DURING THE CRASH. THE MANUFACTURER INVESTIGATED THE FAILURE AND CONCLUDED THAT THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY BECAUSE THE VEHICLE ABSORBED THE IMPACT OF THE CRASH. THE VAN MOTOR CUT OUT WHILE TURNING LEFT AT AN INTERSECTION AND ANOTHER CAR COLLIDED WITH THE VAN. THE FRONT AIR BAGS WENT OFF . THERE WAS CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END. ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS I COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER THAT THE ENGINE WAS STALLING, CUTTING OUT, MISSING AND LACK OF POWER. THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM AND NOTHING SHOWED UP ON THE COMPUTER. THE DEALER HAS A RECORD ON FILE OF MY COMPLAINTS. HAS ANYONE PURSUED LEGAL ACTION REGARDING SIMILAR PROBLEMS SUCH AS I HAVE EXPERIENCED?
VEHICLE STALLED WHILE REVERSING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. MOMENTS LATER, WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AND RUNNING, VEHICLE BEGAN TO DRIFT BACKWARDS AND HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. *TR

MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING OUR 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN DOWN A RESIDENTIAL STREET WHEN SUDDENLY IN TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE IGNITION SHUT OFF. BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS GOING 30MPH IT DIDN'T JUST STOP AND HE COULD NO LONGER CONTROL IT. THE VAN HIT THE BACK OF ANOTHER VEHICLE AT FULL SPEED CAUSING THE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY IN THE VAN. NO ONE THANKFULLY WAS HURT BUT OUR VEHICLE HAS BEEN DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS. WE HAVE CONTACTED MOPAR SINCE THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED ON 3/18/2020 AND HAVE RECEIVED THE RUNAROUND. BECAUSE THE IGNITION JUST CUT OFF WE CONTACTED A DODGE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE VIN NUMBER CHECKED AND WERE INFORMED OF THE OPEN RECALL THAT CAN CAUSE EXACTLY WHAT OCCURRED WITH OUR VEHICLE. WE WERE DIRECTED BY THE DEALERSHIP TO CONTACT MOPAR. WE JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AT AN AUCTION IN JANUARY 2020 WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE RECALL NUMBER IS R03.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, A DEER JUMPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD CAUSING A CRASH. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG AND DRIVER'S SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG PARTIALLY DEPLOYED DUE TO IT BEING PUNCTURED BY AN UNKNOWN COMPONENT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FENDER WAS DAMAGED AND THE BRACKET WAS BENT DURING THE IMPACT. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DETERMINED. POLICE REPORT NUMBER: 19-2687 WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 217,000.
WAS ENTERING A PARKING PLACE. RIGHT FOOT ON TOP OF BRAKE. WHILE MY CAR WAS MOVING AT IDOL SPEED-THE ENGINE RPM'S SPEED SURGES CAUSING NO CONTROL IN STEERING, BRAKE . THE SURGEING OVER RIDES THE BRAKE. STEERING, EVERYTHING.. HIT PARKED CAR. YOU HAVE NO CONTROL IN SITUATION. HAD ANOTHER "2010" VAN & SAME THING HAPPENED GOING THRU GARAGE DOOR -2ND TIME ALMOST HIT BUILDING AT MY DENTIST BUILDING. DEALERSHIP MADE DEAL & SWITCHED TO PRESENT VAN. NOW THIS ONE HAS DONE IT. CHRYSLER HAS INSPECTED VAN FOR TWO WEEKS. THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG . CASE NUMBER AT CHRYSLER IS #23859956. CAN'T DRIVE THIS VAN AGAIN. NEXT TIME MAY INJURE OR KILL SOMEONE. I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT AT SAM'S CLUB IN WOODBURY, MN. AS I WAS PULLING IN, MY VAN RAPIDLY ACCELERATED AND HIT THE CAR PARKED ACROSS FROM ME HEAD ON. IT FELT AS IF I WAS RIDING A BUMPER CAR AND I WAS WHIPPED AROUND A CORNER. MY VEHICLE SUFFERED DAMAGES AT APPROXIMATELY $2600--SO IT WASN'T JUST A SIMPLE BUMP. SENT A E-MAIL COMPLAINT TO DODGE? VERY GENERAL RESPONSE TO MY COMPLAINT, I COULD SEE THEIR WERE NOT CONCERNED. IS THIS A MAJOR PROBLEM FOR THE DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH, HIT A LARGE (APPROX 6 FEET X 4 FEET X 4 FEET) WOODEN SHIPPING CRATE. THE CRATE EXPLODED, AND A BOARD BECAME LODGED IN THE TIRE WELL AND ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I ALSO LOST POWER THE VEHICLE - THE WRECKER DRIVER ADVISED THAT THE BOARD APPEARED TO HAVE DISCONNECTED THE COMPUTER WIRES. THE CRATE HIT ON THE FRONT DRIVER FENDER. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I WOULD THINK HITTING SOMETHING THE SIZE OF THE FRONT END OF A CAR AT 60 MPH SHOULD SET OFF THE AIR BAGS. *TR
