On 7/1/2023 my vehicle began to malfunction while driving - power was flickering with EMC drive error flashing. When this happened, I was at a complete stop in traffic, so I put it in park, then restarted. Everything seemed to be fine, but I was cautious. The same thing happened again, so I pulled into a parking lot and went inside a store for a few minutes. I got back in the car, started the vehicle, then before pulling out into traffic, the center console reported a flashing error again, so I put it in park and restarted again, put my hazard lights on, then pulled away. I was consciously trying to stay a few car lengths behind vehicles ahead because I was nervous about what was going on and just wanted to keep away from other vehicles. I made it to an intersection where there was a red light with 2 cars ahead of me. I began braking and decelerated to around 5 MPH and within 30 feet of the vehicle in front of me when the vehicle lost power to the brake. I don’t recall if the steering also went out. I hit the bumper of the car in front of me, and her car was pushed into the car in front of her. Fortunately, I did not sustain any injuries. My airbags did not go off. My confidence in this equipment is seriously affected. How will I know this will not happen again? I could have died or taken the lives of other people. I requested that the company MobilityWorks not make any repairs to the vehicle until they explain the origin of the problem. Instead they replaced parts and stated they could not replicate the problem--it took them 6+ months to return the vehicle to me & the headlights do not even work. They refuse to inform me of what the malfunction was but cite neglected vehicle maintenance. I can document consistent vehicle maintenance. I refuse to drive this vehicle as it is clearly compromised. They aren't being transparent and should be required by law to notify disabled individuals including veterans of this risk. These modified vehicles are death traps!
MY SONS AND I WERE INVOLVED IN A HIT & RUN INJURY CAR ACCIDENT. WE WERE REAR-ENDED ON THE FREEWAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. I WAS GOING ABOUT 5 MPH AND DRIVER BEHIND ME PLOWED INTO US AT ABOUT 30 MPH! INSTANTLY ME AND MY YOUNGER SON BOTH SAID WE HIT OUR HEADS. OUR HEADS HURT BESIDES BEING THRUST BY THE IMPACT. MY SON KEPT POINTING AT SOMETHING ASKING ME TO LOOK WHEN I WAS TRYING TO CALL 9-1-1 FOR HELP AND THE OTHER DRIVER WAS TRYING TO TALK TO ME UNSAFELY IN THE HIGHWAY! MY SON TOLD ME TO LOOK AT OUR HEADRESTS. BOTH FRONT SEAT HEADRESTS HAD DEPLOYED AND STRUCK US IN THE BACK OF OUR HEADS ON IMPACT! WE COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. AS MY YOUNGER SON SAID, WE SUFFERED ENOUGH WITH NECK, SHOULDER, BACK AND STOMACH PAINS FROM BEING THRUST IN THIS CAR ACCIDENT BUT TO BE PUNCHED IN THE BACK OF OUR HEADS ON TOP OF THAT?? IT REALLY HURT US AND WE WERE MOVING AT THE TIME OF IMPACT. FORTUNATELY WE WERE CHECKED ON SCENE MEDICALLY BY THE PARAMEDICS. EVEN THE HIGHWAY PATROL OFFICER HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THE HEADRESTS DISLODGED, NEITHER HAD THE PARAMEDICS. I LOOKED ON LINE AND FOUND A LITIGATION AGAINST A MAJOR CAR MANUFACTURER AND FOUND OUT THIS MAY BE AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE DEFECT ON OUR 2014 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WE CAN'T EVEN PUT BACK THE HEADRESTS IN PLACE ON EITHER FRONT SEAT HEADREST. THIS WAS VERY SCARY FOR BOTH OF US, HAVING OUR HEADS HURT SO MUCH UPON IMPACT. YET WE DIDN'T GO FORWARD INTO THE STEERING WHEEL OR DASHBOARD, RATHER WE GOT CLOCKED, PUNCHED IN THE BACK OF OUR HEADS BY THE HEADREST SUPPOSEDLY THERE TO HELP CURTAIL WHIPLASH. EXTREME LIES BY THE CAR MANUFACTURERS AND A TOTAL SAFETY HAZARD. THEY NEED TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR CAUSING THIS MUCH DURESS AND INJURY TO ALL THESE CUSTOMERS WHO TRUST THESE MAJOR CAR COMPANIES TO KEEP US AND OUR LOVED ONES SAFE, NOT INTENTIONALLY INJURE THEM.
AFTER GOING SIDEWAYS INTO A VERY STEEP DITCH, BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONT SIDE AIRBAG CHARGES WENT OFF, BUT NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THE SEAT BELT LOCKED SO TIGHT THAT I COULDN'T REACH THE DOOR HANDLE OR WINDOW SWITCH, OR UNBUCKLE THE SEAT BELT TO EXIT THE VEHICLE.

WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT DEPLOYED, ON ITS OWN, PUSHING MY HEAD FORWARD. NO COLLISION HAD OCCURRED AT THE TIME OF DEPLOYMENT. THE HEAD RESTRAINT LOOKS AS IF THE PLASTIC BRACKET INSIDE BROKE BECAUSE I TRIED RESETTING THE HEAD RESTRAINT, PER MANUFACTURER INSTRUCTIONS, BUT IT WILL NOT RESET. HEAD RESTRAINT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WITH A NEW PART.
I WAS IN MY CAR I HAD JUST PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY WHICH IS ON AN INCLINE, MY CAR WAS IN DRIVE MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE WHEN YOUR FOOT COMES OFF OF THE BREAK AND YOU ARE IN DRIVE MY CAR WILL ROLL BACKWARDS IT IS DESIGNED THAT WAY. ON THIS PARTICULAR DAY MY CAR ROLLED FORWARD I NOTICED IT WAS ROLLING FORWARD AND I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AS I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND WAS STEPPING ON THE BRAKE THE CAR MADE A HIGH PITCHED NOISE AND THEN THE RPMS REVVED UP AND UP AND THE CAR ACCELERATED FORWARD AS IF I WAS PUSHING ON THE GAS AND IN DRIVE. THE CAR WOULD NOT LET ME GET IT OUT OF PARK AND IT KEPT GOING FORWARD ACCELERATING INTO THE HOUSE AND GARAGE OVER AND OVER. I HAD TO SLAM THE GEAR SHIFT AND HIT IT OVER AND OVER FROM PARK DOWN INTO REVERSE WHICH FINALLY HAPPENED AND THEN I WAS ABLE TO GO BACKWARDS AND STOP HITTING THE GARAGE. I TURN THE CAR OFF PUT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR TO SEE THE DAMAGE. PICTURES ARE BELOW I HAVE SEEN OTHER FORUMS AND COMPLAINTS THAT THIS VEHICLE YEAR AND MAKE HAVE DONE THIS ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. IF MY LITTLE GIRLS WERE IN THE CAR AND THIS HAPPENED AT A INTERSECTION, WE WOULD HAVE BEEN THROWN INTO ONGOING TRAFFIC SERIOUSLY INJURED IF NOT KILLED!! THIS IS A KNOWN VEHICLE FAILURE WHICH HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN CARE OF WITH PROPER RECALL PRECAUTIONS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING PROBLEM. MY LIFE MATTERS AND SO DO MY CHILDRENS. FAILURE TO ACT IS MURDER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TAILGATE SPOILER DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE SPOILER STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 32,800.
DURING TRAFFIC AT ROUGHLY 10PM, THE CHARGE INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. OUR VEHICLE ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTED LOSING POWER ON THE FREEWAY. BY THE TIME WE GOT TO THE NEXT EXIT, WE WERE LOSING POWER WITH STEERING, CAUSING US TO CRASH INTO A FIRE HYDRANT. WE WERE ABLE TO GUIDE IT INTO A PARKING SPOT BEFORE LOSING THE REST OF THE ELECTRICAL CAPABILITIES (WINDOWS, LIGHTS, ETC.). MY FAMILY WAS STUCK IN THAT DESOLATE ARE WITH NO WAY TO CHARGE OUR PHONE AND TWO SLEEPING YOUNG CHILDREN. AFTER GETTING IT TOWED, THE VEHICLE ENDED UP IN THE SHOP FOR A LITTLE UNDER 3 WEEKS FOR REPAIR TO THE COLLISION THAT HAD OCCURRED. THE ELECTRICAL CHECKED GOOD. THE NEXT DAY, THE CHARGING INDICATOR LIGHT AGAIN WENT ON AFTER BEING ON THE ROAD FOR ROUGHLY 18 MILES. THANK GOODNESS THIS TIME IT ALL HAPPENED IN THE DAY AND WE WERE STUCK IN A BETTER AREA. AFTER CHECKING GOOD AGAIN AT THE COLLISION CENTER, THE VEHICLE WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE DODGE DEALER FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS. THIS IS WHEN THEY FINALLY PINPOINTED IT WAS AN ALTERNATOR ISSUE. THANKFULLY THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A FREEWAY BRIDGE CHANGING LANES WITH LITTLE TRAFFIC TO INSIDE WALLED LANE AROUND A SLIGHT TURN,WHEN THE VAN FELT LIKE IT LOST TRACTION IN THE FRONT RIGHT ;AND SLIGHTLY SPED UP.I DROVE ALONG THE EDGE OF THE WALL,SAFELY TRYING TO REDUCE SPEED AND PULL OFF THE FREEWAY. LUCKILY I MANAGED TO ONLY GLANCE AND SCRAPE THE WALL CAUSED MILD BODY DAMAGE ;DEEP SCRAPS AND DENTS.WHEN I PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY,I HAD A TRASHED FRONT RIGHT TIRE,HALF A RIM AND EXTENSIVE STEERING COMPONENT DAMAGE.I THINK IT IS POSSIBLE THE TIRE WAS LOW,WITH NO INDICATION OF IT,BUT WHAT SCARED ME WAS THE ACCELERATION INCREASE OF UP TO 10+ MPH.THE ROAD THERE JUST IN THAT AREA WAS DARK AND I THOUGHT I MIGHT HAVE HAD RUN OVER SOMETHING THAT CAUSED RT FRONT WHEEL TO LOSE GROUND CONTACT,;I.E A TRUCK RETREAD OR A ROLLED UP CARPET,BUT THE POLICE FOUND NOTHING IN THE ROADWAY,THE TEMP WAS IN THE HIGH 30'S,NO ICE......WATER AND I HAD $6500 IN DAMAGE.I HAVE BASIC STEEL RIMS,PLASTIC CAPS. *TR
Vehicle started on fire while parked. It was a total loss. The auto shop reported that the fire started due to faulty wiring under the driver side seat. Specifically, related to the harness wiring. Thankfully this didn't start while I was driving. I have seen other reports on this website for similar fires on the Dodge Grand Caravan AND an actual recall for the Crysler Town and Country for similar fires related to faulty wiring. That vehicle is almost identical to the dodge grand caravan. Something need to be done before a loss of life incident...I reached out to Dodge to notify them, and an investigator sent me a same day email that Dodge is not responsible. I only had 65,000 miles on this 2014 DGC and took great care of it.
Hello good morning I have a serious situation. On April 20, 2022, my 2014 Dodge minivan caught fire at 3:00 a.m. Yes. no explanation. After searching the internet I realized that the same thing has happened to many people with these cars. Look on the official Dodge website, make a claim and they gave me an appointment to see my car on May 24 at Triangle Chrysler in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Later I called today May 27, 2022 to see the result of the investigation and they say that they are not responsible and they do not give me any other explanation. My van is a total loss, everything burned inside. I feel very sad and disappointed as the fire started inside the car in the middle of the morning and it is exactly the same as the recall of this car says. I don't have insurance that covers those damages, nor do I have money to buy another one. I lost everything. I need immediate help. search the internet co. the vin number of the car and the factory recall appears but nobody ever sent me any notification. what can i do i need help
My vehicle in the middle of the night got on fire and completely burned. After a week without turning my car on . I'm out of town and my neighbors call me at 3am telling me the vehicle got on fire . The fire department arrived and turn off the fire . They said the fire started on the front inner part . No one was near my vehicle. The vehicle got on fire by it self. I lost my car completely 😫 .
This vehicle was reported as parked and unoccupied when a fire started in the engine compartment
Engine oil filter adapter assembly failure of Manufacturer OEM Part Numbers: 68105583AA, 68105583AB, 68105583AC, 68105583AD, 68105583AF, 68105583AE This failure results in many safety concerns to include engine bay fires. The inferior plastic OEM part is prone to failures causing pressurized oil leaks at the top of the engine that contaminate many other parts to include the exhaust manifold, exhaust components inclusive of the catalytic converter which operates at normal temperature exceeding 650 degrees F. Flash fires accrue frequently in this regard and engaging the occupants, others, environment, and may result in fatalities. There are no check engine lights or safety warnings of any kind for this failure unless oil pressure is lost after the fact. The OEM parts is not a suitable material for typical engine temps exceeding temps of 200F and will break down on a molecular basis. There is currently an aluminum upgrade manufactured by Dorman, part number 926-876 that is not supported nor provided by Mopar. I am a retired ASE Master Technician with over 40 years of experience. I have seen over 30 instances of this failure effecting a wide rage of 2014 Chrysler vehicles with the 3.2 and 3.6 liter gas engines. Vehicle mileage is not a factor in this regard. Inferior simply put, OEM Product, plus time, plus normal engine temps will cause the molecular material breakdown and thus component failure. It is aggravated by oil change procedures when even skilled technicians try to change the filter by removing the cover or over torque the cover and fracture the now brittle inferior materials. Internally we have also noticed severe chemical softening of the housing sealing surfaces that remain in constant contact with engine oil. This further proves the inferior product material incompatibilities. Please validate ASAP to begin a Recall campaign that will surely prevent future fatalities or catastrophic damage to personal property or the environment.

MY WINDOW VENT SWITCH IN DRIVER SIDE DOOR CAUGHT FIRE
DRIVER STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, TURNED RIGHT, ACCELERATED TO 10-15 MPH AND THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE SHUT OFF. AT THE SAME TIME THE FOUR WAY LIGHTS BEGAN FLASHING, HORN SOUNDED (LIKE A CAR ALARM ACTIVATED - ON-OFF-ON-OFF), WIPERS BEGAN MOVING BACK AND FORTH ALONG WITH WIND SHIELD FLUID SPRAYING OUT. AFTER COASTING TO A STOP, THE DRIVER SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING AND IMMEDIATELY EVACUATED THE VEHICLE AND CALLED 911. FIRE CREWS ARRIVED TO FIND A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, DRIVER'S SIDE. FIRE EXTINGUISHED WITH WATER. NO INJURIES. VEHICLE TOWED TO SECURE LOCATION FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION. ...*BF UPDATED 10/30/18*JB *DT*JB *DT*JB
