THE F-150 WAS PARKED IN THE CARPORT ATTACHED TO MY SON'S HOUSE. IT HAD BEEN PARKED AND NOT RUNNING FOR AT LEAST 3 HOURS. A PASSERBY NOTICED THE TRUCK ON FIRE AND TRIED TO WAKE ALL OCCUPANTS IN THE HOUSE(DUPLEX). AT 5 A.M ON 9/11/2008. MY SON NEVER LEFT THE HOUSE. HIS BODY WAS FOUND JUST INSIDE THE HOUSE BY THE CARPORT DOOR. THE FIRE WAS COMING FROM SOMEPLACE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. DUE TO MY SONS EMPLOYMENT WITH THE MILITARY AT THAT TIME AND LIVING ON POST THERE HAS BEEN EXTENSIVE INVESTIGATION INTO THIS INCIDENT. I CAN SUPPLY FURTHER DATA WHEN ASKED. I HADN'T BEEN ALLOWED TO SEE ANY OF THE INVESTIGATIVE INFO UNTIL THE MILITARY COMPLETED THEIR INVESTIGATION. THAT IS THE REASON FOR THE LONG DELAY IN REPORTING THIS INCIDENT. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 35 MPH IN RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE DRIVER CRASHED INTO A TREE THAT HAD FALLEN AND OBSTRUCTED THE ROADWAY. AS THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER THE IMPALED TREE, ONE OF THE TREE BRANCHES FRACTURED THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND STRUCK THE DRIVER. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE DRIVER WAS KILLED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO LOCK INTO IT'S BUCKLE. THE BUCKLE FAILS TO ACTIVATE THE LOCK AND RELEASE THE SEAT BELT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WHEN A VEHICLE SLIPPED ON ICE IN FRONT OF THEIR VEHICLE, IN ORDER TO AVOID CRASHING, THE CONTACT ENDED UP STEERING INTO A NEARBY DITCH CRASHING INTO TREES. THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE FAILED TO SECURE THE SEAT BELT CAUSING IT TO SWING AND HIT THE CONTACT. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TOWED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT CAUSED HIS TEETH TO BE FRACTURED AND MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO HAD NOT DIAGNOSED ANYTHING REGARDING THE SEAT BELT AS OF YET. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,00.

THE SEAT BELTS FAILED TO PROPERLY RESTRAIN THE CONSUMER AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY WHICH RESULTED IN INJURIES TO THE OCCUPANT.
