I PURCHASED A NEW 2008 SPECIAL 60TH EDITION FORD F-150 ON 4MAY08. I NOTICED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ABOVE SPEEDS OF 55MPH IT STARTED TO VIBRATE IN THE FRONTEND. I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY SAID THE VEHICLE WAS SOUND AND HAD NO PROBLEMS. I WHEN TO EDMONDS.COM AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE SPECIAL 60TH EDITION FORD F150 WITH THE DRIVELINE, WHICH MAY MAKE THE VEHICLE VIBRATE AT SPEEDS OF 55 -60MPH. WHAT CAN I DO IF THE DEALERSHIP WANT FIX THE TRUCK? *TR
The contact owns a 2008 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at approximately 40 MPH and rounding a right-hand bend, the steering wheel veered to the left direction. The contact stated the "tire pressure" warning light was illuminated. The contact stated the vehicle crashed into a guard rail on the driver's side and flipped over the rail and landed on the driver's side. The contact said that there was damage to the front fender, driver's and passenger door, and rear quarter panel. The contact said he had received medical attention on-site for minor lacerations to his left hand and bruising on his left shoulder. The police wrote an incident report. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The contact said that a day prior to the crash he had smelled a burning smell coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle had not been diagnosed by a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. AIRBAG DID NOT FULLY DEPLOY IN FRONTAL COLLISION DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEED OF 65MPH AND UPON STRIKING A TREE AFTER LOSING CONTROL OVER TIRE ISSUE. I REMEMBER AIRBAG OPENED LIKE A BALLOON AND THEN DEFLATING AS SOON AS IT OPENED UP AND IT SEEMED LIKE IT WAS ROLLED. I REMEMBER WAKING UP TO FIND MYSELF BEING LIFE FLIGHTED TO HOSPITAL. I SUSTAINED SEVERAL INJURIES WHICH I'M BLESSED TO BE ALIVE. I SUFFERED HEAD INJURY WHICH NEEDED STAPLES AND STITCHES, BROKEN RIBS AND STERNUM, HIP DISLOCATION AND SURGERY FOR ACETABULAR FRACTURES OR I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO WALK AGAIN, KNEE INJURY FROM DASHBOARD, BROKEN LEFT ULNA ON LEFT ARM AND ULNAR STYLOID ON RIGHT WRIST. ALL DUE TO AIRBAG NOT FULLY DEPLOYING LIKE ANY OWNER OF A VEHICLE EXPECTS IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

THE INSURANCE COMPANY HAD NOT YET INSPECTED THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER, BUT WAS WAITING FOR BOTH TO FURTHER INVESTIGATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

ON MARCH 24, 2013, MY GIRLFRIEND AND I WERE DRIVING TO DENVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPRT VIA I-70 EAST BOUND. MY TRUCK AS WELL AS MULTIPLE OTHER VEHICLES HIT SOME BLACK ICE ON A LONG BRIDGE I-70 EAST BOUND. BY TRUCK SLID SIDE WAYS AND HIT THE CONCRETE MEDIAN HEAD ON AND AT SAME TIME WAS HIT BY ANOTHER OUT OF CONTROL VEHICLE WHICH HIT ME IN THE DRIVERS DOOR. THIS CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO SPIN SEVERAL TIMES ACROSS 3 LANES AND RAN INTO GUARD RAIL HEAD ON. UPON ALL THREE IMPACTS THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT LOCK NOR DID ANY AIR BAGS DEPLOY CAUSING MY GIRLFRIEND TO HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND I STRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL WITH MY CHEST AND CHIN. WHEN THE FIRE DEPT. ARRIVED, THEY CUT TALL BATTERY CABLE TO PREVENT THE AIR BAGS GOING OFF ACCIDENTALLY WHILE WE WERE BEING REMOVED FROM THE TRUCK. NO TICKETS WERE ISSUED TO MYSELF OR THE DRIVER OF THE TRUCK THAT HIT ME. THE TRUCK WAS TOTALLED AS THE FRAME WAS TWISTED AND TOTAL FRONT END WAS DESTROYED. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FORD DIRECTLY. I SENT THEM PICTURES AND INFORMATION THEY ASKED FOR. THEY ARE REQUESTING INFORMATION AND ACCESS TO THE TRUCK THAT I CANNOT PROVIDE AS MY INSURANCE COMPANY TOOK POSSESION OF THE VEHICLE. TO THIS DAY FORD ONLY SENDS ME LETTERS ASKING FOR MORE INFORMATION I DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO. THE PICTURES I SENT TO FORD SHOWED EVERY ANGLE OF THE FRONT END DAMAGE AS WELL AS PICTURES OF THE INSIDE CLEARLY SHOWING THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I CAN ONLY ASSUME THAT SINCE I'M THE AVERAGE PERSON STRUGGLING TO MAKE A LIVING AND FORD IS THE BIG CORPORATION WITH BOTTOMLESS POCKETS THAT NOTHING WILL BE DONE OR HAS BEEN DONE. AT APPROX. 274 EXIT, MY TRUCK STARTED SLIDING ON ICE AND HIT HEAD ON INTO MEDIAN CONCRETE BARRIER. AT THE SAME TIME I WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER OUT OF CONTROL VEHICLE AND WAS PUSHED TO THE SHOULDER SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE HITTING THE ON-RAMP GUARD RAIL AT APPROX. 45 MPH HEAD ON. THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT DID NOT LOCK UNTIL AFTER MY GIRLFRIEND HIT THE WINDSHIELD WITH HER HEAD.I HIT THE STEERING WHEEL WITH MY HEAD ALSO. YES, THE MAJOR COMPLAINT IS NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AFTER HITTING 2 STRUCTURES HEAD ON. THE FIRE DEPT. CUT ALL THE BATTERY LEADS TO KEEP THE AIR BAGS FROM GOING OFF BEFORE LETTING POLICE LOOK INSIDE OR BE TOWED. I CONTACTED FORD WITH MY CONCERN FOR THE AIR BAGS NOT WORKING. THEIR RESPONSE WAS " WHAT DO YOU WANT FORD TO DO"? I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD ASKING FOR INFORMATION THAT WILL TAKE ME FOREVER TO ACCUMULATE. ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF BIG CORPORATIONS NOT CARING ABOUT THE PEOPLE THEIR PRODUCTS FAIL TO PROTECT. IT WAS ABOUT 6:00AM WHEN I STARTED MY TRUCK UP AND DROVE TO MY MAIL BOX WHICH WAS ABOUT 300FT FROM MY CARPORT. I HAD BACKED MY TRUCK UNDER THE CARPORT TO REMOVE GROCERYS THE DAY BEFORE, SO I DROVE FORWARD TO THE MAIL BOX AND DROVE BACKWARDS TO PARK MY TRUCK BACK UNDER THE CARPORT,. I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL AND PRESSED THE BRAKE WHEN THE TRUCK STARTED SPINNING THE TIRES AS THOUGH THE ENGINE WENT TO FULL TROTTLE. I TOOK OF IN REVERSE RAN THRU A TWO FOOT DITCH, OVER MY OUTSIDE AIRCONDITIONER UNIT AND SLAMMED INTO MY BRICK HOME. I HAD APPLIED THE BRAKE AS HARD AS I COULD WITH NO EFFECT. UPON THE IMPACT WITH THE HOUSE I TURNED THE IGNITION SWITCH OFF TO STOP THE WHEELS FROM SPINNING . I COULD FINALLY PUT IT IN PARK . *TT

I OWN A 2008 FORD F-150 XLT SUPERCREW / I HAVE BEEN HAVING ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. ONCE SITTING AT AN INTERSECTION LUCKILY I WAS THE FIRST ONE AT THE LIGHT THIS VEHICLE JUST STARTED RACING AND TOOK OFF ON ME LUCKILY MY LIGHT JUST TURNED GREEN I PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKES AND IT DIDN'T DO A THING AS THE TAC WAS BURIED AND ENGINE REVVING AS FAST AS IT WOULD GO BY THEN I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION AND STILL OUT OF CONTROL I PUT THE TRUCK INTO NEUTRAL THE TRUCK STOPPED BUT THE ENGINE WAS RACING SO FAST I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BLOW UP I THEN PUT IT IN PARK AND SHUT THE TRUCK OFF, I HAD MY TWO BOYS 14 AND 16 WITH ME TO WITNESS THIS AND WE WERE ALL SCARED TO DEATH. I FINALLY STARTED THE TRUCK BACK UP RELUCTANTLY BUT I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION AND IT WAS FINE I PULLED OVER INTO A SHOPPING CENTER TRYING TO CALM DOWN AND FINALLY DROVE HOME WITH NO OTHER PROBLEMS THAT DAY. SINCE THIS WAS A WEEKEND THE FORD DEALERSHIP WAS CLOSED SO ON MONDAY MORNING I WENT TO THEM THEY LOOKED IN THEIR COMPUTER FOUND NO RECALLS AND TOLD ME IF I PUT IT ON THE COMPUTER IT WOULD COST ME 60 DOLLARS.1 YEAR LATER THIS SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME THIS TRUCK TOOK OFF ON ME LIKE A ROCKET ENGINE RACING THIS TIME I WAS BY MYSELF ON WAY TO WORK I KEPT IT ON THE ROAD AS LONG AS I COULD THEN SHOT OFF INTO A FIELD WENT APPROX.1/4 MILE TAKING OUT STUMPS AND TREES IN APPROX 8IN.OF SNOW THEN WENT AIRBORNE BACK OVER THE ROAD LANDING INTO A DITCH UP AGAINST TWO TREES. I WAS SEMI CONSCIOUS WHEN I FINALLY LANDED AND STOPPED BUT ALL I COULD HEAR WAS THIS TRUCKS ENGINE RACING AS FAST AS IT COULD GO AND I COULD SEE STEAM COMING OUT OF THE FRONT IT SCARED ME SO I HAD THE SENSE TO PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK AND SHUT IT OFF. BEEN DOING SOME RESEARCH SAME COMPANY THAT MAKES THROTTLE/SENSORS FOR TOYOTA ALSO MAKES THEM FOR FORD. I TRULY BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP.
