DRIVER LOST STEERING CONTROL DUE TO WARPED/CRACKED RIGHT REAR BRAKE ROTOR. VEHICLE ROLLED OVER LANDING ON ROOF. DRIVER PARTIALLY EJECTED. WITNESS BEHIND GRAND CHEROKEE OBSERVED DRIVER FIGHTING WITH STEERING WHEEL PRIOR TO ROLLOVER.*AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION WITH A TELEPHONE POLE ,AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, CAUSING MINOR INJURIES. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH, THE CONTACT LOST CONSCIOUSNESS AND LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CONSEQUENTLY CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HEAD THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACTS RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
DRIVING HOME EARLY MORNING DURING A SNOWSTORM, A SNOWPLOW WENT THROUGH A STOP SIGN AND MY VEHICLE HIT HIM DEAD CENTER TOTALING MY VEHICLE. EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS A FRONTAL COLLISION NEITHER THE DRIVER'S OR PASSENGER'S AIR BAGS DEPLOYED RESULTING IN INJURY TO THE DRIVER. *TR
DRIVING 60 MPH ON HIGHWAY 242 (POSTED SPEED LIMIT) A CAR PULLED OUT FROM A STOP SIGN INTO MY PATH. I APPLIED BRAKES AND IMPACTED HIM ON HIS PASSENGER DOOR AREA (SPEED APPROXIMATELY 50MPH). MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND I RECEIVED BACK AND KNEE INJURIES THAT ARE STILL A PROBLEM TODAY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING APPROX. 30-35 MPH TRIED TO ROUND A BEND IN THE ROAD AND THE STEERING FAILED, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE AND CROSSED THE CENTER LANE OF THE ROAD AND CRASHED HEAD-ON INTO A SCHOOL BUS. THE VEHICLES WERE TOWED FROM THE SCENE AND MY VEHICLE WAS LATER INSPECTED BY AN ENGINEERING FIRM TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WHICH WAS TIE-ROD DEFECT/PITARM FAILURE. THE REPORT INDICATED THAT THIS AREA DOES NOT HAVE GREASE FITTINGS. THE FAILURE OF THE PART WAS DUE TO IMPROPER MANUFACTURING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE PARKED, THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, DROVE OVER A RETAINING WALL, AND RESTED AGAINST A NEIGHBORING HOME. THE DOOR OF THE VEHICLE KNOCKED THE CONTACT TO THE GROUND AND CAUSED MINOR BACK AND WRIST INJURIES. THE GEAR POSITION INDICATOR FAILED, WHICH CAUSED THE CONTACT TO BELIEVE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 114,000.
99 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH ENGINE PROBLEMS CUSTOMER STATES THAT THE RPM'S WOULD IMMEDIATELY GO UP TO THE 200 OR SOMETIMES HIGHER AS SOON AS HE STARTS UP THE CAR AND ALSO ACCELERATE WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED**CC THE CONSUMER STATED VARIOUS PARTS WERE REPLACED, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM RETURNED. THE CONSUMERS WIFE WAS DRIVING, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN, SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES AS HARD AS SHE COULD, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO PROCEED IN A FORWARD MOTION. THE ONLY SOLUTION WAS TO PLACE THE VEHICLE INTO PARK. AFTER PLACING THE VEHICLE IN PARK, THE CONSUMERS WIFE PLACED IT IN DRIVE AGAIN AND IMMEDIATELY IT STARTED TO ACCELERATE UNCONTROLLABLY. APPLYING THE BRAKES WITH FULL FORCE DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. WHEN AAA ARRIVED AND STARTED THE VEHICLE, NOTHING HAPPENED. THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE THE CONSUMERS DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING. DURING ONE OF THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION INCIDENTS, THE CONSUMERS WIFE WAS INJURED. THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE COOLANT RADIATOR FAN RELAY AND WATER PUMP WERE REPLACED. THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ON, THE TRANSMISSION SEAL WAS LEAKING. THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED. THE RIGHT AND LEFT HUB BEARING WERE REPLACED. *JB
DT: CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS AT A STOP SIGN WHEN IT WAS REAR ENDED. CONSUMER'S VEHICLE HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. UPON IMPACT, BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. ACCORDING TO HIS PHYSICIAN, IF THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, THE CONSUMER WOULD HAVE GOTTEN A FRACTURED SPINE. THERE WAS POLICE REPORT. CONSUMER HAS SOFT TISSUE INJURIES AND HIS SON WAS GOING TO BE TAKEN FOR X-RAYS TODAY.*AK
THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND NEITHER OF THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. *JB THE DRIVER WAS INJURED AND WAS OUT OF WORK FROM MAY 2 TO JULY 19. THE DRIVER STILL HAS PAIN IN HER NECK AND LEG. HER LEFT ARM AND LOWER BACK WERE ALSO SPRAINED. THE PASSENGER HAS BRUISE CHEST AND BREAST. *NM
WHILE IN PARK VEHICLE ENGAGED INTO REVERSE. AS A RESULT, VEHICLE ACCELERATED DOWN A RAMP IN REVERSE AND CRASHED INTO A CEMENT WALL. DRIVER SUSTAINED BRUISES ALL OVER THE LEFT SIDE OF HER BODY. *AK
MY WIFE HAD THE CAR IN PARK, LEFT THE CAR TO CLOSE OUR GATE AND THE CAR CAME OUT OF PARK AND BACKED OVER HER. WHEN SHE GOT OUT FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE SHE CAME INTO THE HOUSE BRUSHED AND CUT. I CALLED THE EMS AND WENT OUT TO MOVE THE VEHICLE. IT STILL WAS IN PARK WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. JEEP'S REP CAME OUT AND LOOKED AT IT AND HIS ANSWER WAS " THE POERATIONAL MANNAL; STATES THAT WHEN YOU LEAVE YOUR VEHICLE YOU MUST PUT IT IN PARK TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND REMOVE THE KEYS FROM THE CAR. OK I MAY AGREE WITH THAT, BUT SHE WAS ONLY CLOSING THE GATE. WHAT MY CONCERNS IS THAT THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE TRANS FOR THIS TO HAPPEN . *AK

VEHICLE WAS IN A FRONTAL COLLISION WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED UPON IMPACT.*AK
I WAS DRIVEN OFF THE HIGHWAY BY A SNOW PLOW. I WAS DRIVING MORE THAN 40 MILES PER HOUR AND I STRUCK A TREE HEAD ON. THE COMPLAINT RESULTS FROM THE FACT THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG ON MY 1999 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE DID NOT DEPLOY. ALTHOUGH JEEP CONDUCTED AN INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE, THEY REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THERE WAS A FAILURE.*JB

THE CONSUMER STARTED THE VEHICLE FROM THE PARK POSITION AND PLACED IN REVERSE, WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE HAD TAKEN OFF OUT OF CONTROL, HITTING OTHER VEHICLES. THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. SCC
WHILE TRAVELING DOWN A MOUNTAIN ROAD, GAINING SPEED, PUT CAR INTO 2ND GEAR IN ORDER TO SLOW DOWN AND NOT OVER-USE THE BRAKES...CAR SUDDENLY BOLTED BACK AND BRAKES LOCKED UP AND BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. I STEERED OUT OF HITTING THE MEDIAN , (IT WAS A WINDY MOUNTAIN ROAD), BUT HIT THE BACK OF A TRACTOR TRAILOR.. I WAS THEN HIT FROM BEHIND BY ANOTHER TRACTOR-TRAILOR AND PROJECTED FOWARED. I WAS ABLE TO MANUEVER OVER TO SHOULDER OF ROAD. PLACED CAR'S TRANSMISSION IN PARK..BUT IT CONTINUED TO MOVE FOWARD !!! I HAD MINOR ACHES AND PAINS, CAR SUSTAINED AT LEAST $9500 WORTH OF COLLISSION DAMAGE. TOLD REPAIR TO CHECK BRAKES AND TRANSMISSION...THEY SAID EVERYTHING OK.. I DID NOT DO ANYTHING UNUSUAL IN THIS DRIVING EXPERIENCE. I AM EXTREMELY FEARFUL OF THE VEHICLE. IT IS STILL IN SHOP WAITING FOR FINAL ESTIMATE. I WANT TO MAKE SURE THE FRAME AND BRAKES AND TRANSMISSION ARE OK BEFORE I CONSIDER USING VEHICLE AGAIN. MY CONFIDENCE IS LOST. CAN JEEP RESPOND AND LET ME KNOW WHY THIS HAPPENED...WILL THEY BUY-BACK ? IT IS ON EXTENDED WARRANTY TIL JANUARY 2003 OR 43,000 MILES. I JUST PURCHASED IN JANUARY OF 2002. I NOW REALIZE MANY JEEPS HAVE MANY PROBLEMS.*AK
