I was crossing a road to get to the median and my Jeep stopped moving in the middle of a 4 lane highway, separated by a median that I never made it to due to it stopping moving during acceleration. It made noise when I pressed on the gas pedal but didn’t go anywhere. I was hit by a car that couldn’t avoid me, and my daughter and I were injured in the crash. My daughter had a fracture in her right leg & facial bruising. I had a laceration requiring stitches and facial bruising, lost consciousness at the scene and am severely concussed. Progressive deemed my Jeep a total loss.
Air bags failed to deploy during major MVA. Sensors clearly should have been hit (see images). The vehicle is no longer in my possession. Safety- driver knocked unconscious likely from hitting head on steering wheel. If the vehicle did not collapse the way that it did, major injuries or death would have occurred with the airbags failing to deploy. Reproduced- unsure Vehicle was collect and assessed by the insurance company. There were no warning lights prior to the accident.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the contact noticed that the vehicle was hesitant to move and the accelerator pedal was able to be pushed all the way to the floorboard. No warning light was illuminated The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle had been diagnosed by a dealer however, the mechanic was not able to pinpoint the failure. A week later the same problem reoccurred. The contact also stated that when the contact was reversing the vehicle had taken off and crashed into someone else vehicle. The air bag did not deploy. The speed at the time of the crash was unknown. The vehicle did not have to be towed. The service external throttle control warning light was illuminated. A police report was not filled. The driver had gotten injured. There were no other people's injuries. The driver sustained an injury on her right shoulder. The contact had taken medicine for her injury. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised that they would investigate the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000. No VIN Provided.
I lost control of my 2015 jeep grand cherokee Laredo and crashed head on into a utility pole. The airbags did not deploy and my seat belt did not lock up on. I was traveling about 40mph at the time. The lack of restraint from the seat belt and no airbag sent me smashing into the steering wheel. No warning lights telling me something was wrong with airbag.
None of the air bags deployed after running of the road and hitting a tree causing inuries to the driver (broken ribs, compressed lung, fractured vertebrae, extreme bruising on right side). Insurance company is currently working a claim to total the vehicle. There has been no inspection of the vehicle or problem duplicated. If there was a passenger in the front passenger seat they would have been killed. No warning lamps or indications the air bags would not work.
On April 23rd at 9:28pm I was driving my Jeep Grand Cherokee 2015 on a highway at approximately 45mph when suddenly the transmission slipped to neutral without any human interference. I tried shifting it back to drive but the transmission did not respond. The Jeep lost momentum very quickly and came to a complete stop in the highway. As soon as it went to a complete stop it locked itself in parking position and l lost all ability to put it back to drive. I turned my blinkers and emergency lights on, but one minute later I got rear-ended by a car traveling at 50mph. My Jeep Grand Cherokee 2015 got totaled and I was taken to the hospital in stable condition. I was in a bad collision due to the Jeep slipping into neutral and locking itself in parking. I lost ALL ability to control my Jeep. The jeep got towed to a safe location. Two weeks later, we needed to move the car to another area for the insurance inspection. The car turned on and moved, yet again when the car gained velocity, the gear slipped to neutral and again came to a complete stop it, locking the transmission in the parking position. I always took my car for regular maintenance and it was a very well kept Jeep Grand Cherokee 2015.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVEN TIMES, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 64723187. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT A CRASH OCCURRED BECAUSE THE BRAKES SEIZED WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE POLICE WAS PRESENT AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED AND TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

I SHIFTED MY CAR FROM DRIVE TO PARK AND EXITED THE VEHICLE PARKED IN A GAS STATION PARKED LOT. AS I EXITED THE DRIVERS SEAT AND BEGUN TO STEP AWAY I NOTICED THE JEEP WAS IN MOTION (ROLLING BACKWARDS, TOWARDS ME JUST STEPS AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE).BECAUSE THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS OPEN IT KNOCKED ME DOWN ON MY FACE AND THEN ROLLED OVER MY LEGS WITH THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL. THE JEEP CONTINUED TO ROLL UNTIL IT CRASHED INTO A FUEL TRUCK PARKED IN THE GAS STATION LOT WHERE I HAD PARKED.
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY (SPEED APPROX. 45) WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE FAILED TO YIELD AT A STOP SIGN. FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE IMPACT WITH FRONT OF OTHER VEHICLE. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT DID NOT LOCK CAUSING THE DRIVER'S FACE TO HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. DUE TO THE SEAT BELT NOT LOCKING FACIAL INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED.
MY JEEP WAS PLACED IN "PARK" POSITION BY MY ADULT SON. I WAS GETTING INTO THE BACK SEAT AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED IN REVERSE, HITTING ME WITH THE OPEN DOOR WHERE I WAS ATTEMPTING TO ENTER THE VEHICLE, AND CAUSING ME TO HAVE A HEAD INJURY. I WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE FOR A CONCUSSION AND LACERATION ON THE BACK OF MY HEAD. I HAVE NOTICED DIFFICULTIES SINCE THAT TIME GETTING THE VEHICLE SECURELY INTO "PARK." I HAVE TO PUSH THE HANDLE FORWARD SEVERAL TIMES TO GET IT TO ACTUALLY GO INTO PARK.

THE CONTACTED CALLED THE DEALER TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE A REASONABLE TIME FRAME TO COMPLETE THE RECALL REPAIR. IN ADDITION, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN PARK ON AN INCLINE, THE GEAR SELECTOR INDEPENDENTLY REVERSED DOWN THE INCLINE AND CRASHED INTO A FENCE. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED BRUISES TO THE KNEES AND SHOULDERS, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE TOWED TO A DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS WAITING ON AN INVESTIGATION TO DETERMINE THE MANUFACTURER'S SOLUTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 15 MPH ON A CITY STREET THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE CONTROL ARM FRACTURED, BROKE LOOSE, RIPPED APART THE WHEEL WELL AND CAUSED THE CAR TO PULL TO THE RIGHT AND BRUSH AGAINST A PARKED CAR CAUSING MINOR PAINT DAMAGE ON THE FRONT BUMPER.
DEC 30, 2015 I WAS BROADSIDED BY A VAN IN MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO ROLL OVER SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE CRASHING HEAD ON INTO A SOUND WALL. I WAS PINNED IN THE VEHICLE UPSIDE DOWN WITH MY RIGHT LEG PINNED UP UNDER THE DASH. THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG DEPLOYED AT THE MOMENT OF IMPACT, HOW EVER MY DRIVERS AIRBAG AND KNEE BOLSTERS DID NOT DEPLOY CAUSING ME TO IMPACT THE STEERING WHEEL WITH MY STERNUM AND SMASHING BOTH KNEES INTO THE DASH WHICH CAUSED MY RIGHT LEG TO BE PINNED UP UNDERNEATH THE DASH. THE TERRIBLE PAIN I HAD TO SUFFER AND STILL TO THIS DAY EXPERIENCE WAS THE WORST PAIN I HAVE EVER FELT IN MY LIFE. WE COMPLIED WITH THE SAFETY RECALL WE RECEIVED REGARDING THE AIRBAGS, BUT ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASTIONS OF TAKING THE JEEP INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR WARRANTY REPAIRS THEY NEVER PERFORMED THE REQUIRED SAFETY RECALL REPAIR. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE STILL WAITING ON THE SOFTWARE PROGRAM FROM CHRYSLER. THE DEALERSHIP IN WHICH THE JEEP WAS PURCHASED WAS: TURLOCK CHRYSLER DODGE/JEEP 1600 AUTO MALL DRIVE TURLOCK, CA 95380 209/ 250-5800 PURCHASE DATE: SEPTEMBER 20, 2014 I WAS TRAVELING WESTBOUND ON BRIGGSMORE AVENUE DOING 43 MPH WHEN I ENTERED THE INTERSECTION AT ROSE AVENUE I WAS BROADSIDED ON MY DRIVE RSIDE DOOR BY A LADY WHO RAN THE RED LIGHT DOING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH CAUSING ME ROLL OVER A COUPLE OF TIMES AND SPIN OUT OF CONTROL UNTIL I CRASHED HEAD ON (UPSIDE DOWN) INTO A SOUND WALL, THEN BOUNCED OFF THE WALL AND CRASHED AGAIN THROUGH THE SOUND WALL WITH THE REAR END OF MY VEHICLE FINALLY COMING TO A STOP, I WAS PINNED IN THE VEHICLE, UPSIDE DOWN AND MY RIGHT LEG WAS PINNED UP UNDER THE DASH. THE DRIVERS SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG DEPLOYED AT IMPACT, HOWEVER NONE OF THE OTHER AIRBAGS DEPLOYED CAUSING ME TO FULLY IMPACT MY CHEST INTO THE STEERING WHEEL, AND SMASHED BOTH OF MY KNEES INTO THE KNEE BOLSTER PART OF THE DASH, WEDGING MY LEG UP UNDERNEATH THE DASH
I THOUGHT THE CAR WAS SAFELY PARKED AS I OPENED THE ELECTRIC HOUSE GATE AND EXITED THE CAR. I WANTED TO ENTER THE GATE FIRST, SO THAT I COULD SECURE THE DOGS. ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE CAR STARTS ROLLING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. I TRY TO JUMP INTO THE CAR TO TRY TO STOP THE CAR, ONLY TO BE PINNED AGAINST THE DOOR AND THE CLOSING ELECTRIC GATE, I FALL. I GET BACK UP AGAIN TO TRY TO STOP THE CAR, AND I FALL AGAIN. THE CAR ENDS UP ROLLING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY AND ALMOST FULLY TIPPING OVER THE DRIVEWAY WALL. THE DRIVEWAY IS AN ELEVATED DRIVEWAY, THE CAR JUMPED OVER THE 4FT WALL. AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, TWO WRECKERS WERE NEEDED TO SHIMMY THE CAR OFF THE DRIVEWAY WALL. ACCIDENT FREE RECORD FOR +20 YEARS. THE SHIFTER IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED, IN THIS CASE, IT LEFT A WORLD OF DAMAGE.

JEEP WAS IN THE DRIVEWAY AND HAD REMAINED THERE OVERNIGHT. MY HUSBAND AUTOSTARTED THE CAR USING THE KEYFOB FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE. MY SISTER WAS BEHIND THE CAR AS SHE WAS GOING TO GET HER BAG OUT OF THE TRUNK. THE CAR BEGAN TO MOVE IN REVERSE (ON OUR FLAT DRIVEWAY) AND PINNED HER BETWEEN THE JEEP AND THE CAR BEHIND HER. THE JEEP DID NOT STOP MOVING UNTIL SOMEONE JUMPED IN THE CAR AND HIT THE BRAKES. THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE BEHIND THE JEEP WAS IN HIS CAR. HE WAS ABLE TO BACK UP BUT THE JEEP WAS MOVING FAST ENOUGH TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO HIS CAR. THE CAR APPEARED TO BE IN REVERSE, NOT JUST IN NEUTRAL. MY SISTER'S PATELLA WAS FRACTURED. A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THE VEHICLE STATING THAT PEOPLE ARE NOT AWARE THAT THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK WHEN THE VEHICLE IS EXITED. HOWEVER, THE JEEP WAS CLEARLY IN PARK BECAUSE WE WERE ABLE TO AUTOSTART THE VEHICLE USING THE KEYFOB.
I HAVE A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH A MONOSTABLE GEAR SHIFTER. NUMEROUS TIMES I HAVE HAD THE CAR GO INTO AN UNDESIRED GEAR. ON OCTOBER 20, 2015, I DROVE THE CAR INTO THE GARAGE TO PARK IT; I PLACED IT IN WHAT I THOUGHT TO BE PARK, EXITED THE VEHICLE, AND THEN THE VEHICLE (IN REVERSE) STARTED TO DRIVE OUT OF THE GARAGE. I WAS CAUGHT BETWEEN THE DOOR AND CAR AND UNABLE TO GET BACK IN DUE TO THE SPEED OF MOVEMENT. AS THE CAR BACKED OUT, THE DOOR CAUGHT ON THE MAIN SUPPORT COLUMN TO THE HOUSE AND BENT BACKWARDS; EVENTUALLY THE DOOR HINGE GAVE OUT AND THE CAR CLEARED THE GARAGE. ONCE IN THE DRIVEWAY AND WITH THE DOOR OUT OF THE WAY, I WAS ABLE TO RUN FAST ENOUGH TO GET INTO THE CAR AND STOP IT BEFORE IT DROVE INTO THE HOUSE ACROSS THE STREET. THE CAR HAD ENOUGH SPEED TO SCREECH WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. MY SHOULDER AND ARM WERE BADLY BRUISED BUT I DID NOT SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE HOUSE DAMAGE WAS MOSTLY MINOR; WE ARE AWAITING AN INSPECTION TO VERIFY THE COLUMN'S INTEGRITY. THE CAR DAMAGE WAS SUBSTANTIAL, REQUIRING A NEW DOOR AND TWO NEW PANELS. MY INSURANCE COMPANY, USAA, COVERED THE DAMAGE (MINUS DEDUCTIBLE). MY BROTHER HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE IN A CHRYSLER 300 WITH THE SAME SHIFTER, HE BACKED INTO ANOTHER CAR WHEN HE THOUGHT THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. MY WIFE HAS MADE THE MISTAKE ON OUR JEEP A NUMBER OF TIMES AS WELL, BUT SHE HAD NOT GOTTEN OUT OF THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY BEFORE NOTICING THE ERROR.
