I WAS DRIVING IN THE RAIN GOING THE SPEED LIMIT. MY JEEP HIT A POOL OF WATER ON THE SURFACE OF THE HIGHWAY AND STARTED TO SKID AND HYDROPLOANE. THE NEXT THING I KNEW IT WAS FLIPPING OVER AND LANDED ON THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. I WAS LUCKY TO BE WEARING MY SEAT BELT. I WAS SUSPENDED UPSIDE DOWN BY MY SEATBELT. I WAS ABLE TO UNBUCKLE IT AND CRAWL OUT THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW WHICH WAS COMPLETELY BLOWN OUT. SECONDS AFTER I GOT OUT OF THE CAR IT BURST INTO FLAMES AND THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED AND BURNED COMPLETELY INSIDE AND OUT. THERE WAS NOTHING LEFT OF IT BUT BURNT FRAME. AS SOON AS THE CAR CAME TO A STOP UPSIDE DOWN, I SMELLED GAS AND JUST A MINUTE OR TWO LATER THE CAR WAS TOTALLY BURNED UP. *TR

2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. NO HEAT ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE IN THE WINTER, AC DOESN'T WORK CORRECTLY ACCORDING TO THE DIAL SETTINGS. DEFROST AND DEFOGGER DOESN'T WORK AS SHOULD. HAVE TO HAVE THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW OPEN SOME TO BE ABLE TO SEE AND KEEP THE WINDSHIELD CLEAR. WINDSHIELD FOGGED UP TOO QUICKLY ONCE LAST WINTER AND I PUT THE VEHICLE IN A DITCH AT 5AM IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER. GOT A SMALL CUT OVER THE RIGHT EYE. MY UNDERSTANDING I WILL HAVE TO GET THE AC/HEAT BLEND DOORS AND ACTUATORS REPLACED IN THE UNIT WHICH REQUIRES THE DASH TO BE REMOVED AND COST IS OVER 1000 US DOLLARS. THE PARTS ARE INFERIOR AND MADE OF PLASTIC AND AS I CAN SEE BY THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET THERE ARE MANY, MANY FAILURES. I HAVE NOT HAD THE REPAIR DONE BECAUSE IT'S JUST TOO EXPENSIVE. *TR

I WAS IN A HEAD ON COLLISION THAT TOTALED MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WHILE I WAS 30 WEEKS PREGNANT. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I SPENT THE WEEKEND IN THE HOSPITAL AS A RESULT, AND THE BABY NEEDED TO BE MONITORED BECAUSE I WAS HAVING CONTRACTIONS. I INFORMED DAIMLER CHRYSLER, THEY SENT A LETTER WITH A BROCHURE SHOWING WHERE THE POINT OF IMPACT NEEDED TO BE FOR THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY, STATING THE CAR PERFORMED AS IT SHOULD HAVE. HOWEVER, IN THE BROCHURE, IT CLEARLY INDICATES WHERE THE POINT OF IMPACT NEEDED TO BE FOR THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY, WHICH IS THE SAME AS WHERE THE POINT OF IMPACT WAS ON THE JEEP. I SENT A LETTER BACK TO DAIMLER CHRYSLER VIA CERTIFIED MAIL INDICATING THIS. I HAVE HAD NO RESPONSE FROM THEM, AND THEY WILL NOT GIVE ANY INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE. *JB

THE CAR HAS BEEN TOTALED NOW. IN ADDITION, WHEN SHE CRASHED INTO THE DIVIDER, THE CAR AIR BAG DID NOT OPEN. I THINK THERE WAS A VEHICLE DEFECT (EITHER DESIGN OR MANUFACTURE) IN THE JEEP WHICH CAUSED THIS ACCIDENT. *NM

AFTER TRAVELING OVER THE CONTACT'S LEGS THE VEHICLE CONTINUED FORWARD MOTION UNTIL IT ROLLED OVER A TWENTY FOOT EMBANKMENT AND WAS STOPPED BY A TREE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED LEG INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND LATER INSPECTED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY WHO DEEMED IT A TOTAL LOSS. ADDITIONALLY, IT WAS DISCOVERED THE GEAR SHIFT POSITION INDICATOR WAS IN DRIVE.

THEY RESPONDED THAT THEY DON'T ALWAYS COME OUT IN A FRONT END ACCIDENT. IT DEPENDS ON WHAT PART OF THE BUMPER WAS HIT. I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND THIS WHEN THE CAR WAS TOTALED AND IT WAS DUE TOTAL FRONT END DAMAGE. I BELIEVE SOMETHING IN THIS CAR MALFUNCTIONED. DO WE HAVE ANY RECOURSE? SHIFTING CABLE WAS REPLACED AFTER FAILURE. JEEP WAS "SLIPPING" IN GEAR. I WAS RUN OVER BY THE VEHICLE AFTER PUTTING IT IN PARK AND GETTING OUT. VEHICLE BEGAN "SLIPPING" IN GEAR AGAIN. I HAD NO REVERSE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID A LEVER WAS LOOSE ON THE TRANNY AND THEY TIGHTENED IT. STILL SLIPPING. *JB

I HAVE A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED. IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR, WHILE ON THE EXPRESSWAY, MY CRUISE CONTROL CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF EVEN BY HITTING THE BREAK AND PUSHING THE OFF BUTTON NUMEROUS TIMES. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY PUTTING THE GEAR IN NUETRAL AND TURNING IT OFF. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WHO TALKED MY THROUGH HOW TO LOOSEN A CABLE IN THE ENGINE WHICH APPARENTLY CAUSED THE CRUISE/ACCELERATOR TO STICK. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND EVEN ON MY WAY THERE, THE CAR WOULD ACCELERATE ON IT'S OWN, WITHOUT THE CRUISE CONTROL BEING TURNED ON. THE DEALERSHIP KEPT MY CAR FOR THE DAY AND WHEN THEY RETURNED, THEY STATED THAT THEY HAD REPAIRED THE PROBLEM. TWO MONTHS LATER, I WAS LEAVING MY PARKING SPACE AT WORK AND MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON IT'S OWN. I STRUCK THE BREAK BUT THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SPIN IN CIRCLES AND FORCED MY VEHICLE TO STRIKE THREE OTHER VEHICLE. JEEP CONDUCTED AN INVESTIGATION AND THEY SENT ME A LETTER STATING THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. I JUST WANTED TO SEND YOU THIS COMPLAINT TO LET YOU KNOW THAT THEIR FINDINGS WERE FALSE AND POORLY RESEARCHED. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE TIRE MARKS AND THERE IS NO WAY THAT THIS ACCIDENT COULD HAVE OCCURRED OTHER THAN BY I HIGH ACCELERATION AND MY FOOT BEING ON THE BREAK.*AK

THE JEEP WAS GOING AT AN EXCESSIVE SPEED AND THE DOOR WAS OPEN, IT HIT A POST AND BENT THE DOOR BACK. MY HUSBAND PROCEEDED TO JUMP INTO THE JEEP AND APPLIED THE BRAKES AND SKIDDED TO A STOP. MY HUSBAND PULLED SOME MUSCLES IN HIS CHEST AND BRUISED SOME RIBS. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND A CONSULTANT HAS BEEN SENT OUT, BUT IN MY CALLS TO THE COMPANY I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO TALK WITH ANYONE THAT CAN TELL ME WHAT TO DO OR WHERE TO CALL.*AK
