2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. ATTORNEY REPRESENTING CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEADLY REAR ENDED ACCIDENT INVOLVING VEHICLE WHICH RESULTED IN A FUEL SYSTEM FIRE. *SMD *TR
I OWN A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE I WAS TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY A FEW DAYS A GO WHEN MY TRUCK DECREASED IN SPEED SOMEWHAT. I PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY TO STOP AT A GAS STATION. ONCE STOPPED AT THE LIGHT A THICK PLUM OF SMOKE APPEARED IN THE AFT PORTION OF THE SUV. I PULLED INTO THE GAS STATION WITH SCREAMS OF YOUR TRUCK IS ON FIRE GET OUT. I QUICKLY PLACED THE TRUCK IN PARK JUMPED OUT AND THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO ROLL OUT OF THE GAS STATION ONTO THE STREET HITTING SOME LOCAL CONSTRUCTION WORKERS NEARBY EQUIPMENT. THE REAR AXLE CASE WAS ON FIRE. I GRABBED A C02 TANK FROM THE GAS STATION IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP THE FIRE. THE DETROIT FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD TO COME TO COMPLETELY EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. *TR
I WAS INVOLVED IN A REAR END COLLISION WHICH STARTED A SMALL PILE UP. I WAS STRUCK IN THE REAR AND MY FUEL TANK RUPTURED AND THE JEEP BURST INTO FLAMES IMMEDIATELY AS I WAS PUSHED INTO SECOND CAR. BY THE GRACE OF GOD I SURVIVED.
WHILE PARKING THE JEEP ALONG THE STREET IN BETWEEN OUR OTHER 2 VEHICLES IT TOOK OFF AT FULL SPEED IN REVERSE CRASHING INTO OUR TRUCK THEN TOOK OFF FULL SPEED FORWARD AND CRASHED OUR CAR THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS THE JEEP WAS A TOTAL LOSS.THE JEEP WAS IDLING AND WENT TO FULL THROTTLE WITHOUT TOUCHING THE PEDAL AND WAS ALSO NOT IN GEAR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH, BUT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED TWO CRACKED RIBS AND INJURIES TO THE HEAD. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. MY HUSBAND WAS INVOLVED IN A NEAR HEAD ON COLLISION. HE WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 10 MPH AND WAS HIT BY A VEHICLE GOING ABOUT 35MPH. HIS FENDER HIT THE CENTER OF OUR GRILL. OUR BUMPER WAS TORN OFF, THE HOOD PUSHED UP TO THE WINDSHIELD AND THE MOTOR PUSHED TO A 45 DEG. ANGLE. THE JEEPS AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, THE OTHER VEHICLES DID. *TR
I HAVE A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE..INSURANCE TOTALED IT..FRONT END COLLISION..AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CAR HAD 88,000...MILES. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IN 2005 FROM A USED CAR DEALER IN ALBUQUERQUE. AT THAT TIME NO RECALLS OR REPAIRS OF ANY SAFETY RELATED DEFECTS WERE REVEALED TO ME. I RECEIVED A RECALL IN NOVENBER 2006 FOR COOLING FAN THAT I HAD ALREADY HAD DONE . DAIMLER/CHRYSLER REIMBURSED ME FOR SOME OF THE REPAIRS DONE. ON 4-17-07 I WAS NORTH BOUND ON UNSER APPROACHING LADERA, TRAFFIC WAS STOPPED AT THE RED LIGHT. I WAS TRAVELING THE SPEED LIMIT WHICH WAS POSTED AT 35 MPH. I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO BEGIN SLOWING DOWN AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I THEN SLAMMED MY FOOT DOWN ON THE PEDAL IT WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I REAR ENDED A LARGE PICKUP AT THE INTERSECTION. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, AND I DID NOT THINK THE SEAT BELT ENGAGED UNTILL I HIT THE STEERING WHEEL WITH MY STERNUM. MY INJURIES WERE MINOR, AND I ELT THE INJURIES OF THE PERSON I HIT WERE ALSO MINOR. THE REASON I BELIEVED THISWAS SO BECAUSE I WAS KNOCKED UNCONSICIENCE. AFTER SOME ADVICE FROM AN ATTOURNEY I CHECKED ONLINE FOR ANY SAFTY RELATED RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. I WAS NOT SURPRISED TO FIND MANY. RECALL # 200002004 WAS A SEAT BELT RECALL, RECALL # 20060313 WAS A BRAKE SYSTEM RECALL, AND RECALL # 19991202 WAS A AIR BAG RECALL. THERE WERE MANY MORE I AM SURE YOU WERE AWARE OFF. MY CONCERN WAS FOR ANYBODY ELSE THATWAS DRIVING ONE OF THESE VEHICLES WITH THEIR FAMILIES IN THE CAR. IF MY WIFE OR DAUGHTER HAD BEEN IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME I AM SURE THEIR INJURIES WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE SEVERE. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS VEHICLE, IT WAS NOT SAFE. *AK
ON JAN. 10, 2007, I WAS IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION AND MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE WHOLE FRONT END OF MY JEEP WAS SMASHED AND I HAVE TO GET A WHOLE NEW FRONT CLIP FOR IT. ALSO, THE BRAKES WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND DIDN'T SEEM TO WORK PROPERLY. I AM VERY UPSET ABOUT THESE ISSUES AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY THE AIR BAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN THIS TYPE OF COLLISION. *NM
I WAS IN A CAR WRECK INVOLVING MYSELF AND ANOTHER VEHICLE, WHEN A THIRD VEHICLE CHOSE TO STOP FOR NO APPARENT REASON IN AN INTERSECTION WITH A GREEN LIGHT. WE WERE TRAVELING AT MAYBE 40 MILES PER HOUR. I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO REACT AND RAN SQUARELY INTO THE BACK OF THE TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME. MY AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. I WAS WEARING MY SEAT BELT, BUT NOT PROPERLY, AS THE SHOULDER BELT WASN'T ACROSS MY CHEST. HOWEVER, WHEN THE AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY, MY HEAD SLAMMED INTO THE STEERING WHEEL, CAUSING INJURY. I HAVE CONTUSIONS TO MY UPPER JAW, THE LOWER HALF OF MY NOSE, MY UPPER LIP, AND CHIN. MY FRONT TEETH WERE KNOCKED LOOSE, AND IT IS UNKNOWN YET IF THEY WILL BE ABLE TO RECOVER, A ROOT CANAL MIGHT HAVE TO BE DONE. I BROKE A FINGER ON MY LEFT HAND,, WHEN IT WAS ALSO SLAMMED INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. THE POLICE, EMT'S, AND FIREMEN ON THE SCENE WERE ALL DISCUSSING WHY MY AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. I FEEL LIKE IF IT WOULD HAVE INFLATED I WOULD NOT HAVE ANY FACIAL INJURIES AT ALL. THE ACCIDENT JUST OCCURRED YESTERDAY, SO I HAVE YET TO FIND OUT IF THERE WAS ANY MECHANICAL PROBLEMS CAUSING THIS FAILURE. *JB
ON SEPTEMBER 14, 2006, MY WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IN OUR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE RESULTING IN COMPLETE LOSS OF THE VEHICLE AND NON-LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES TO HER. MY TWO CHILDREN, AGES 3 AND 4, WERE IN THE VEHICLE, PROPERLY RESTRAINED IN CARS EATS AND INCURRED NO INJURIES. SHE WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, AND HIT THE REAR END OF A TRUCK PARKED IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF A THREE LANE MAJOR ROAD. THE IMPACT TOTALED THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE FAILURE OF AIRBAGS IN A HEAD-ON IMPACT AT 40 MPH WOULD SEEM TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN FOR THE MANUFACTURE AND PERHAPS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED TO DETERMINE IF THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE MODEL OR IF THIS WAS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. *JB
I HAD JUST TURNED RIGHT AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, DRIVING SLOWLY FORWARD IN A CONSTRUCTION AREA, WHEN MY ACCELERATOR SUDDENLY STUCK. WITHIN A FEW SECONDS MY CAR HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AT AN ACCELERATED SPEED, CAUSING A CHAIN REACTION WITH 2 ADDITIONAL CARS. MY CAR WAS TOTALED AND I BELIEVE THE ONE I HIT DIRECTLY WAS TOO...I WAS TICKETED FOR CARELESS DRIVING EVEN THOUGH I TOLD THE POLICE WHAT HAD HAPPENED...A YEAR LATER I HAVE HEARD SEVERAL REPORTS ABOUT MY VEHICLE, A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, HAVING THIS PROBLEM. MY INSURANCE COMPANY HAS BEEN DEALING WITH THE SUBSEQUENT LAWSUITS FILED BY 3 OF THE 4 VEHICLES HIT RESULTING FROM THIS ACCIDENT... *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 25PMH THE VEHICLE WAS FORCED OFF THE ROAD BY ANOTHER DRIVER. THE VEHICLE HIT A TELEPHONE POLE WITH THE FRONT END. THE ENTIRE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE RECEIVED DAMAGE AND ALL OCCUPANTS WERE WEARING SEAT BELTS, HOWEVER NEITHER FRONTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES. THERE WAS PROPERTY DAMAGE AND POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALER, BUT HAVE NOT DETERMINED WHY THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. AS I WAS IN PARK WITH MY VEHICLE RUNNING, MY VEHICLE JUMPED OUT OF PARK INTO REVERSE AND ROLLED AWAY EVENTUALLY HITTING A WOMAN PUTTING HER INTO THE HOSPITAL. IT ALSO HAD DONE DAMAGE TO THE FUNERAL HOME WE WERE AT. I WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME. SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE INCIDENT THE CAR SHIFTER WOULD LOCK UP AND NOT EVEN MOVE OUT OF PARK.
2000 GRAND CHEROKEE WAS REAR ENDED AND THE DRIVER SEAT BROKE AWAY FROM THE FLOORBOARD.*MR THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE SEAT BROKE, THE CUSHION RAISED UP AND THREW THE HER BACKWARDS AND CAUSED HER TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. *JB
FRONT BRAKE ROTORS AND PADS REPLACED 4 TIMES IN 40,000MILES. CHRYSLER EVEN REPLACED THEM AND FRONT CALIPERS THE FIRST TIME. THE LAST TIME THEY WERE REPLACD WAS A MONTH BEFORE THE ACCIDENT. FOR THE 4TH TIME, STEERING WHEEL AND PEDAL VIBRATE WHEN BRAKING SUDDENLY.I LOST CONTROL AND ROLLED THE 2000 GRAND CHEROKEE INTO A GUARD RAIL. *AK
THE CONSUMER REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE IN A PANIC STOP WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH. UPON IMPACT, THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE DEALERSHIP OR THE MANUFACTURER WERE PROVIDING ANY INFORMATION ON WHY THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED BRUISES FROM THE SEAT BELT. *AK THE VEHICLE DISPLAYED A HARD START DUE TO IMPROPER FUEL PRESSURE, IT WOULD TAKE A LONG TIME TO CRANK BEFORE CATCHING, AND THE BRAKES PULSATED DUE TO WARPED ROTORS. *SC *JB
PULLED VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO CHECK RIGHT FRONT TIRE. LEFT GEAR IN PARK WITH ENGINE RUNNING, EXITED VEHICLE AND WAS WALKING AROUND THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN I HEARD A "THUNK". VEHICLE HAD SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AND WAS TRAVELING DOWN A SLIGHT INCLINE. ATTEMPTED TO ENTER VEHICLE AND WAS KNOCKED TO THE GROUND. MADE A SECOND ATTEMPT AND AGAIN WAS KNOCKED TO THE GROUND. VEHICLE CONTINUED IN REVERSE, STRIKING A FIRE HYDRANT. I SUSTAINED VARIOUS INJURIES AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH DRIVER'S FOOT WAS STUCK ON ACCELERATOR PEDAL DUE TO A SEIZURE. THE PASSENGER TRIED TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF VEHICLE BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. VEHICLE WENT AIR BORNE AND LANDED ON TOP, CRASHING INTO A BRICK WALL. UPON IMPACT, BOTH FRONTAL AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES, AND WERE TRANSPORTED BY AN AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. *AK
